In this episode of content marketing 101 I am looking at why you shouldn’t create negative content. And why would absolutely destroy your brand in the long run if you focus on this type of content.
Often people will revert to controversial topics as they know this will drive engagement. You might even hear brand coaches tell you that using something like this is divisive and shows that you stand for something.
However I was always thought that if you’ve got nothing nice to say then don’t say anything at all.
Of course it is good to challenge when you disagree with something and of course it is good to have a healthy and open debate. But building your entire brand around controversy is only a recipe for disaster.
Your audience are coming to you for drama. So when you step out of line and do something wrong don’t be shocked when your audience will turn against you
Create content instead that is positive and educational And stay in your lane.
Sure it might take longer to build but it’s a lot nicer environment and your community will be a lot healthier and stronger for it
