That can be an uncomfortable question to answer because it takes some being honest with yourself and let's face it, that ain't easy. I know for a fact that we all have passions and desires but the number of people that are actually doing something about it is way too small. Most fear either judgement or failure or both which stem from insecurity. The part about being honest with yourself is where you tell yourself truthfully what it is that you want to do and then asking yourself why you are not doing it. If it's judgement from others that's holding you back, here is some good news, you are going to get judged regardless! Whether you are attempting to do something that makes you happy or not doing anything at all, you will be judged either way and since you will get judged either way, why not just do the thing that makes you happy. When it comes to failure, the only way to fail is to not do anything at all. If you take some action you will get a result and that result can tell you a lot. If the result is something you desired, then congratulations, if the result is one that you did not want, then congratulations, you just learned something about yourself and you have an opportunity to take another action! It is not supposed to be easy, we all have our own struggles and our own obstacles, that's what makes us different, but that also means that we have a choice as to how we navigate those struggles and obstacles and that's what makes us unique.
Edina Okanovic (Dina) is a very old friend that I reconnected with recently. She is someone with a passion that has struggles and obstacles just like everyone else, but now she is doing something about it. Dishin' up with Dina is the title of a podcast that she has been wanting to get out into the world in hopes of helping and inspiring people through their obstacles but something was holding her back from committing to it. She is a mother to one daughter and has experienced two miscarriages and she is only 25. She has struggled with taking a chance on her passion and opens up on why that was the case and how she came to a point where she felt that it was time to do something about it in this episode. Her story will resonate with all the moms out there, especially ones that have had to deal with the tragedy of a miscarriage, but even more so with people in their mid-twenties struggling with taking a chance on themselves.
