I rushed through the door to find Clay lying in the fetal position in a long hallway, stretching a distance to my left and right.

“This is the six o’clock news, good evening.

"Finally, I stopped-- alright, this is far enough, time to tell everyone it’s time to leave, I thought. I opened my mouth. “Hey, guys?” They all stopped and turned to look at me.

As I scrutinized the footage, my heart began to race. Suddenly, I noticed something that hadn't been there before - a figure standing in the center of the black square. The figure was so blurry that it was difficult to make out, but its presence was undeniable. As I continued to watch, the figure grew clearer and clearer, until it was standing directly in front of the camera, its eyes fixed on me...

'I never got to finish that thought. From above us came a bassy trumpet blast that did shatter glass. Everyone grabbed their ears and squatted to the ground as if that would make it disappear. I felt my internal organs vibrating. It was unsettling.

After the longest ten seconds in my life, the trumpet blast stopped. I looked over at my kids, and they were sobbing. Cindy did everything she could to hold them together. I ran over, my legs wobbly from the noise, and hugged them tightly.

"Please make his wish come true too, Anna," I said, reaching out a hand to touch her, but quickly changed my mind. She still made me uncomfortable. I stared at her for a moment more, then looked away. Then immediately looked back again. Something seemed different about her.

I walked from side to side, trying to figure out what was different. Was it her pose? Did she get sun bleached? Nothing seemed to have changed much, not that I could tell.

Her hair, I realised, a chill dripping down my spine. Her hair was longer."
