  • 'Is Everything Going To Be Ok?' A chat with psychic Julia George (Part 1)

Mel and Trish were super excited to have psychic Julia George join them in the studio to chat about her life and her work.

Julia is an Australian-based psychic medium, psychotherapist, modern witch, and healer who works with people from around the world to help with a range of issues which include relationship advice, finding purpose, psychological blocks, legal or business issues and past trauma. In addition, she helps people develop their own psychic abilities and learn tarot/mediumship.

The girls were particularly interested in how Julia’s readings can help women (and men) in midlife and as she explains, most are looking for permission. Permission to leave, to change, to spend, to begin something new. She is, not only their cheerleader, but the one to give them that ‘kick up the bum’ if they need it.

A hugely knowledgeable and interesting woman, there was so much depth to this chat, the girls have broken it into two parts.

Enjoy Part 1 of the remarkable Julia George.

  • ‘Living a Life Less Ordinary,’ a chat with journalist, newsreader, and author Nicole Webb

In episode #80, Mel and Trish chat online to journalist, newsreader, and author Nicole Webb about the fascinating story behind the writing and publication of her book, China Blonde.

As a journalist, Nicole spent 20 years in Australian television working as a reporter, producer and presenter which included a decade as a key player at 24-hour news channel Sky News. When opportunity knocked, Nicole and her hotelier husband jumped, packing up their lives and moving first to Hong Kong and then Xi’an in Northwest China with their young daughter. Nicole describes Xi’an at the time as a city of 9-million people teetering on the edge of progression – a truly fascinating time to live there. Knowing no one, possessing no knowledge of the language and with a cultural divide stretching before her like a chasm, Nicole had a lot to adjust to. It was from this, life-changing experience that Nicole found the inspiration to research and write her memoir China Blonde.

The girls love a good story and Nicole’s is just that – a seriously great chat with a gorgeous 40isher.

    Enjoy.

  • The ‘Big Hairy Audacious Goal’ of romance novelist Sandy Barker.

In episode #79, Mel and Trish chat to romance novelist Sandy Barker about the notoriously challenging road that has led her to becoming a published author. Sandy is one of those incredible women, who with tenacity and determination is now seeing her ‘big hairy audacious dream’ of becoming a full-time author turning into a reality.

In 2018, Sandy and her partner took a midlife sabbatical to live and work in various countries around the world. At the time, she had just self-published her first novel and written another but was looking for a traditional publisher and agent. Fast forward twelve months and after perfecting her pitch and approaching multiple publishing houses, Sandy landed herself both a publishing contract with Harper Collins UK and a UK-based agent.

Her first book was published in 2019 and another seven books followed with an 8th published in November last year. She has also just signed a 5 x book ‘romcom’ series with Boldwood Books. Melbourne-based Sandy currently divides her time between working in adult education four days per week and writing.

She is an energised, enthusiastic 50isher, realising her dream and who doesn’t love that?

  • ‘Happy, Healthy You,’ conversations about midlife with Lisa Curry

In episode #77, Mel and Trish sit down with their long-term friend Lisa Curry to chat about, among other things, life, business, and hormones. Although Lisa is well known for her sporting achievements, television appearances and involvement on the speaking circuit, many don’t realise she is also a successful businesswoman.

In 2015, Lisa established Happy Healthy You, an Australian-based health and lifestyle company with women’s hormonal specialist and Naturopath, Jeff Butterworth.

Although the girls have never wanted to hyper-focus on hormones, in the end, it’s an unavoidable topic for midlife women. The impact of the modern lifestyle often leads to poor sleep, low energy, hormonal mood swings, poor immunity, dull skin, and unhappy gut health. The awareness of these extensive issues led to Lisa and Jeff developing a suite of high-quality products, programs and recipes supported by an experience team of natural practitioners. There is also an impressively large community-based support group, all found in their one-stop-shop online business.

As Lisa says, “its important our bodies are working for us, not against us.”

Of course, with such a long history of friendship, there is also a lot of laughs, reminiscing and tearful moments.

Enjoy this super-charged chat with Lisa Curry.

  • Growing Young – How Friendship, Optimism and Kindness Can Help You Live to 100 with author and science journalist, Marta Zaraska.

In episode #75, Mel and Trish were excited to chat to author and science journalist Marta Zaraska all the way from France about her latest book, Growing Young – How Friendship, Optimism and Kindness Can Help You Live to 100. Marta’s articles have been published in a variety of journals and magazines, her books have been turned into TV programs, she has given a TEDx Talk and been featured as an expert in several documentary films. Marta and the girls unpack the three key elements of friendship, optimism and kindness and the role they play in helping us live longer. It’s an interesting move away from the modern-day hyper-focus on diet, lifestyle and exercise and a move towards a more simplified humanitarian and altruistic approach to life demonstrated beautifully in countries like Japan.

Marta is a super smart girl whose book is full of research, some of which she was the ginea pig herself, having her brain chemicals mapped. But the best thing? Her suggestions are easy to incorporate into our every day lives. It’s simple, but it works.

Enjoy the intelligence and knowledge of Marta Zaraska.
