    CD 1617 Atmospheres…

“Life would be impossible without the atmosphere;” in the natural world, the earth's “atmospheres” is where most of our weather comes from!  You have been outside on a scorching summer day and suddenly you smell rain. Suddenly the “atmosphere” changes and here comes the rain! This natural world is a pattern from heaven (Hebrews 8:1-5 & 9:23-24).  Elijah (James 5:13-20) created an atmosphere for rain on earth from the pattern of Heaven (Matthew 6:10). Guard ”the atmosphere” around you moment by moment!

Your faith or fear creates “atmospheres”.

The Lord Jesus works in “atmospheres”!

Remember the devil is a copycat and he too works in “atmospheres”. Satan loves “atmospheres” created for desire (lust- Eph. 2:3), darkness ( Acts 26:18) and death (Heb. 2:14)! These are in direct opposition to what the Lord works in....

Create the correct “atmosphere” by calling Jesus Chriat your everything! He will only be to you what you have the faith to call Him! And faith only comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17)!

Lord, teach me how to create the correct “atmospheres” according to Your will!

    “Atmospheres” of:

#1 Love - *Romans 5:8 (KJV)   But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

#2 Light - (see Matthew 4:12-17) *Matthew 4:16 (KJV) The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

*John 8:12 (KJV) Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

#3 Life - *John 14:6 (KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

*1 John 5:11-12 (KJV) And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Depending upon the needs of the moment we must create by faith the right “atmosphere”! Remember how Jesus changed the “atmosphere” by removing the unbelieving in “Luke 8:51”!

    Closing Illustration:

    The Lumberjack

There was a rookie lumberjack who started out determined to chop down more trees than anyone else. He made it his goal to beat his company’s average tree count of fifteen trees a day.

On his very first day, he felled ten trees. He said to himself, “That’s pretty good for my first day.” But on the second day, he chopped down ten again. No progress at all. Then on the third day, he managed only seven! Now he was puzzled, but not discouraged yet. He simply doubled his efforts the next day. Imagine to his surprise when he finished with only five trees down!

Every day it got worse – no matter how hard or often he swung the ax, when each day ended, he had felled fewer trees than the day before. After two weeks of discouragement, the young man approached a grizzled old veteran. “I don’t understand what’s going on. I work hard every day, swinging my ax from dawn to dusk, but I keep doing worse and worse. What can I be doing wrong?”

“Young fella,” the old man replied after a long pause, “I can see them callouses on your hands and bigger muscles in your arms, to prove you been swingin’ your ax. But let me ask you somethin’ – When was the last time you sharpened your ax?”

  • CD 1616 Are You Using Your Credit Card in the Lord - Your Heavenly Bank Account Benefits

CD 1616 Are You Using Your Credit Card in the Lord - Your Heavenly Bank Account Benefits

I want to open this message with this question, which is the Title of the Word this evening:

"Are You Using Your Credit Card in the Lord?"

Do you realize you have God's Word? With His promises you can base your everyday life upon! Let's look from the natural for a minute:

A "line of credit" is a type of loan that allows you to borrow money up to a certain amount, as needed, and only pay interest on the amount you actually use. Think of it as an avenue that gives you access to money when you need it, without committing you to a fixed repayment schedule.

Now, when we think about living out of God's promises in His Word, it's a bit like having a line of credit from the Divine Bank. God has made promises to us, like His presence, His love, and His guidance, and we can "borrow" from those promises to live our lives with confidence and assurance.

Just like a line of credit, we don't have to wait until we've paid off everything before accessing God's promises. We can live in the now, trusting that He is our "BACKER," and that His Word is always true. So, just like you might dip into a line of credit when you need it, we can rely on God's promises when we need a little extra spiritual support.

*Text: Ephesians 5:15-16 (KJV) See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, [16] Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

    #1 VISION

*Reread Ephesians 5:15 (KJV) See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

Note: "SEE" #991 (blep'-o) to look at and take heed, look at the following verses where "blep'-o" was used by our Lord Jesus translated "looketh":

*Matthew 5:27-28 (KJV) Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: [28] But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Notice this Greek word has to do with mental vision. Here Jesus is warning about sin in the heart because we a person thinks in the heart so are they - they become in other words! So with that truth we understand the Apostle Paul is warning us to see in our minds our walk! Now let’s look at the rest of verse 15 and understand more.

Note "WISE" #4680 (sof-os') clear and wise - in the thoughtful sense!

This world has its own version of wisdom (James 3:13-15) and it is carnal and devilish. We want wisdom of God:

*James 1:5 (KJV)  If any of you lack WISDOM, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Now look at what Jesus taught about those who had prideful “WISDOM”:

*Matthew 11:25-30 (KJV) At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the WISE and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. [26] Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. [27] All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. [28] Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

3CD 1612 E.  "Faith Filled Feelings - Savior Sanctified Senses"

(A Recovery of Joy) WEEK #5

New Year's Theme - “REJOICE” - The joy of the Christian experience is the key theme running through this epistle. The words "joy" and "rejoice" are used 16 times in the epistle. Paul wrote Philippians at a time when he was suffering in prison (under house arrest), when he was weary and wondered if he might soon lose his life for Christ. And he wrote to people he loved. So his words to the Christians in Philippi were heavy but caring; sad but consoling; appreciative but bittersweet.

This Epistle of Philippians teaches that HUMILITY mixed with HOPE overcomes HARDSHIP and results in JOY (See Psalms 118:24 & Nehemiah 8:10)

    Series Theme Verses:

*John 15:11 (KJV) These things have I spoken unto you, that my"joy"might remain in you, and that your "joy" might be full.

*Philippians 4:4 (KJV)“REJOICE” in the Lord alway: and again I say,“REJOICE”.

From these verses we see that our source of “REJOICING” comes from the Word of God on the inside of the Believer! With that being said, let’s go to chapter 2 of Paul’s letter to the Philippians and fill up with the Word:

    #1 CONSOLATION (a word)

*READ Philippians 2:1-2 (KJV) If there be therefore any “CONSOLATION” IN CHRIST, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, 2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

Note first of all, each blood bought, born-again believer is “IN CHRIST”! Since your “IN CHRIST” and He is “IN YOU” we have access and a source of joy because of:

Note “CONSOLATION” #3874 (par-ak’-lay-sis) = a comfort by calling one near!

"The closer we get to the Lord, the more distant the world becomes."

But first let’s make a note of “CONSOLATION” and “COMFORT”:

“Consolation” refers to the act of “comforting” or bringing relief to someone who is in distress or sorrow. It's the act of offering sympathy and compassion, and of providing reassurance that God is present and working in the midst of suffering.

“Comfort”, on the other hand, is a little deeper. It's not just about soothing someone's immediate distress, but also about giving them a sense of hope and strength in the face of adversity. It's about providing encouragement and strength, and reminding them of God's promises and His love for them.

So, “Consolation” is more about soothing immediate distress, while “comfort” is more about providing a deeper sense of hope and encouragement.

Let’s look at where this Greek word is first mentioned in the New Testament:

*Luke 2:25-26 (KJV)  And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. 26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

Notice this just and devout man, “SIMEON” (means hearing with obedience) and He had the Holy Spirit upon him! His message was through the “consolation” we could draw near to God through His Son Jesus Christ! Jesus is the way to God:

*John 14:6 (KJV) I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

    *1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV) For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

    *Exodus 12:21-24 KJVS

Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover. [22] And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. *Philippians 4:4 (KJV)“REJOICE” in the Lord alway: and again I say,“REJOICE”.

*‭Proverbs‬ ‭17:22‬ (‭KJV‬) A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: But a broken spirit drieth the bones.

*‭Proverbs‬ ‭17:22‬ (‭EASY‬) ‭If you are happy in life, you will be healthy.

But if you are sad and upset, your body will be weak.

From these verses we see that our source of “REJOICING” comes from the Word of God on the inside of the Believer! With that being said, let’s go to verses 20-30 of Paul’s letter to the Philippians in this chapter 1 and fill up with the Word:

    #1 MAGNIFIED (To make great)

*READ Philippians 1:20 (KJV)  According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

Note “my earnest expectation and my hope” = looking in the natural - the moment and in the eyes of the spirit of what's coming!

Note “magnified” #3170 (meg-al-oo'-no)to make (or declare) great, that is, increase or (figuratively) extol: - enlarge, magnify.

    Remember what Jesus said:

*John 12:32 (KJV)  And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

*1 Corinthians 10:31 (KJV) Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

    Q. How can we lift up Jesus?

    A. Psalms 34:1-3 (KJV)  I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. 3 O “magnify” the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.

    #2 More NEEDFUL (necessary)

*READ Philippians 1:21-24 (KJV) For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. 23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: 24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

To be with Christ is understanding it's not a place but it's a matter of degree that comes by submission. The more submissive I am, the more Christ can work in me and through me!

Note “more needful” #316 (an-ang-kah'-yos) necessary

*Matthew 17:17 (KJV) Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.

Paul wrote Philippians at a time when he was suffering in prison (under house arrest), when he was weary and wondered if he might soon lose his life for Christ. And he wrote to people he loved.        From these verses we see that our source of “REJOICING” comes from the Word of God on the inside of the Believer! With that being said, let’s go to verses 12-19 of Paul’s letter to the Philippians in this chapter 1 and fill up with the Word:

    #1 PERCEPTION (UNDERSTAND)

    *READ Philippians 1:12 (KJV) But I would ye should UNDERSTAND, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;

Note “UNDERSTAND” #1097 (ghin-oce'-ko) to come to know and perceive.

Note “the furtherance of the gospel” - Paul’s persecution was making him a pioneer for the Gospel! Like Paul, see yourself as God’s trailblazer marking out the path for others to follow! Remember everyone is a leader at sometime, will you come to “UNDERSTAND” - perceive that truth! The etymology of the word “pioneer” = laborer and foot soldier!

It’s not “what” we know rather it must be about “WHO” we know because scripture teaches us our knowledge is fragmentary (incomplete and imperfect):

*1 Corinthians 13:9 (KJV) For we KNOW in part, and we prophesy in part.

The Apostle Paul by the Holy Spirit is teaching how love is so much better than gifts in this chapter. I just want us to see this truth about “KNOWING” in part.

*Proverbs 9:8-9 (KJV) Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. 9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

“UNDERSTAND” or “PERCEPTION” comes by having a humble teachable spirit like these believers at Philippi. Paul had “PERCEPTION” and it opened him up to be in God’s “PLACE”:

    #2 PLACES (people)

    *READ Philippians 1:13 (KJV)  So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the PALACE, and in all other PLACES;

The Lord God with our corporation with the Holy Spirit can move us from the deepest prison to the most palatial palace! Remember Joseph (See Genesis chapters 37-41) went from being disrespected in his own house to the pit, then to Poptiphar’s house, then to prison and finally to second in command in Pharaoh's palace with great honor!

Food 4 Thought: The lower the devil tries to take you will result in the Lord taking you proportionally higher!

Paul tried to go on his own:

Frank Sintra sang about living life by “My Way”. The Eagles sang about “Life in the Fast Lane”. Many have sung it but I first heard Elvis sing about “living below in this ole sinful, where could I go but to the Lord! You and I know how to truly live by dying, by partaking of the cross! We have instruction from God’s living Word as how to have life and have it more abundantly! Do you know what the Apostle Paul knew? This is the key to learning how to live abundantly:

*Romans 7:18 (KJV) For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

With that truth, turn to the letter to the Galatians. In this letter the Apostle Paul reveals 5 different deliverances we have promised to us as born-again children of God! Tonight we are only going to look at the 4th of the 5 he lists:

#1 Evil Age (eon = long time - eternity)

*Galatians 1:4 (KJV) Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world (age), according to the will of God and our Father:

    #2  The Law

*Galatians 2:19 (KJV) For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

    #3 Self

*Galatians 2:20 (KJV) I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

    #4 The Flesh

*****TEXT Galatians 5:24-25 (KJV) And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

    #5 The World(cosmos = the orderly system)

*Galatians 6:14 (KJV) But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

So like I said in the opening, let’s concentrate upon the deliverance from “The Flesh” we just read as our text You might ask why is it so important to learn to “Live by the Cross”? Remember we talked about the cross of the New Covenant is God’s Altar where we present our bodies as a living sacrifice!

*1 Corinthians 15:23 (KJV) But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

    Q. Who do you belong to, the flesh or to the Lord Jesus? A. It makes a difference when He returns as a thief in the night (1 Thess. 5:2)!

Food 4 Thought: Someone once said “nothing has been taught until something has been learned” (see 1 John 2:20 & 27 the Holy Spirit is your teacher)!

    So let’s reread our text:

*Galatians 5:24-25 (KJV) And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Note those who belong to the Lord, those who He is coming after have:

#1 “crucified the flesh” #4717 (stow-ro’-o) to impale on a cross, figuratively to extinguish passions and selfishness!

    #2 “with the affections” #3804 (path’-ay-mah) emotions

#3 “and lusts” #1939 (ep-ee-thoo-mee’-ah) longing for what is forbidden - to covet.

We need to bak up and look at these works of the flesh so we will understand what we need to crucify, place on our cross - on God’s altar:

     New Year's Theme - “REJOICE”

    Book of Philippians

Author: Apostle Paul - one of his 4 Prison Epistles.

Date Written: Written around AD 62, while Paul was imprisoned in Rome.

Written To: Paul wrote to the believers in Philippi and to church elders and deacons.

Key Characters: Paul, Timothy, and Epaphroditus.

The joy of the Christian experience is the key theme running through this epistle. The words "joy" and "rejoice" are used 16 times in the epistle. Paul wrote Philippians at a time when he was suffering in prison, when he was weary and wondered if he might soon lose his life for Christ. And he wrote to people he loved. So his words to the Christians in Philippi were heavy but caring; sad but consoling; appreciative but bittersweet.

Difficult circumstances often make humans want to COMPLAIN and COMPETE against one another, and hoard resources to meet our own needs. But Paul invites us to remember how Jesus' selfless sacrifice leads to true life, freedom with joy. This Epistle of Philippians teaches that HUMILITY mixed with HOPE overcomes HARDSHIP and results in joy!

After coming through the year of release we want to move forward and not go back to captivity in any way. Listen to these statistics about going back in this image above please. Recidivism rates in the U.S. are some of the highest in the world with almost 44% of criminals released returning to prison within their first year out.

Ask yourself: Am I Lord listening or am I Loud listening?

The Lord spoke through the apostle Paul by His Holy Spirit  and told us that there were many voices in the world. The voices of the world speak very loud and they work on our unsanctified fear filled feelings. Remember God spoke to Elijah in First Kings chapter 19 in a still small voice and taught him the importance of intimacy in private with the Lord!

In this new year of 2024 the Lord by His Spirit through His Word is going to sanctify His church in the sense realm. He is going to help us have faith filled feelings, and sanctified senses so we can truly enjoy life and be a witness for the cross! If we will hold on to Him and His life filled words we will not recognize ourselves in a very short period of time. The Lord has chosen us and started this work of Sanctification in us but we must let Him to continue  the process by doing our part (sanctify yourselves 9 times in the Old Testament):

*2 Corinthians 7:1 (KJV) Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Will you raise your hand and lift your voice to the Almighty God and say Lord I will hear and receive and apply and allow you to shape me and mold me as my God, my Father, and my Potter, I will be softened by Your Spirit, in Jesus name!

We just came through the year that the Lord promised us RELEASE and now we can come into a year of REJOICING. We're going to open up this new year by going through the Epistle of Philippians. This is the epistle of joy! The joy of the Lord, Nehemiah 8 and 10

The joy of the Lord, Nehemiah 8 and 10 tells us is our strength! We will need the strength of the Lord to fulfill His calling and our destiny in this upcoming year.

Before we move to the Epistle of Philippians we must lay a foundation so we can ope
