Even though the pipeline is not operating, Nord Stream 2 is currently full of natural gas, a highly toxic substance. Who were the experts that claimed Nord Stream 2 was a bad idea before it was finished? Today we look at one of them in particular, Alex Fak, an investment analyst who was fired from the Russian-owned Sberbank in 2018 after a shocking report he wrote was leaked to the press. We also hear from Jörg Himmelreich and Aliona Osmolovska, two other experts, about their experience speaking out against Germany's collaboration with Gazprom and Russia long before Nord Stream 2 fell apart.

Only one natural gas pipeline in the world (as far as we know) had an actual rollercoaster that it sponsored: the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. This week we watch videos of that rollercoaster, try not to get dizzy, and talk with Ralph Bollmann from the Frankfurter Allgemeinen Sonntagszeitung:

How did a man who used to work for East Germany's secret police force, who is also close friends with Vladimir Putin, how did he end up becoming known as Mr. Pipeline, the guy who built the Nord Stream pipelines? And was he doing his job more ethically than most people in the West would assume? We look into that this week and hear from multiple employees who worked on the Nord Stream project. 

When Germany decided not to turn on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, it broke a bond it had formed years earlier with Russia. And it admitted that it had made a mistake, a big mistake, one that has a price tag: 9 billion euros.
