Doomcast from Curated Doom

Punk Funk group GLANS play a brand new track called Toboggan Ride exclusively for Curated Doom. It takes the Motorik pulse of Stereolab and Cavern of Anti-Matter and mixes it with goth-powered, overdriven guitars. The result is heady mix of one-bar propulsive bass, 60s sci-fi organ, and nosebleed inducing riffs.

Weirdo electro duo BLACK LEATHER ROBOT release an exclusive minimix, Punishment, on Curated Doom’s regular music-only podcast, DOOMCAST. Dark, off-kilter electro beats skitter around synapse-destroying bass lines and wonky synth leads in a looping, hypnotic journey to that place in your brain where breakbeat, the dark web, cyborgs and illegal sci-fi sex clubs merge.

New minimix from the master of mystery, SILLY BULLY, and a lofi journey through the wobbly world of creaky hip hop, grunged breakbeats and speaker destroying bass lines. This music is a doorway to altered perceptions, parallel realities and the darkest parts of the shadowverse.

BRITNEY FEARS takes two bangers, smashes them together and creates the schizophrenic, brain-melting, 150bpm monster that is ADHD. One part adrenaline electro, one part psychedelic Krautrock, but together they are a sonic hand grenade going off in your head.

Hailing from Osaka, jazz prodigy LITTLE JIMMY YOSHIMI, once a student of Lyle Mays, one of the greatest musicians of all time, has graced us with an exclusive track, Yuugen or 幽玄. Not able to be directly translated into English, it means a profound awareness of the universe. Yuugen is a caffeinated jazz fusion trip that incorporates Japanese video game music and 90s Japanese electro jazz wrapped up in a restless 5/4 beat, whizzing through time and space faster than the speed of light. Which, as everyone knows, is impossible. Unless you have a wormhole in your pocket. Or are you just pleased to see me?

A blast from the past with this exclusive track, Obligate, from Don Ricardo side project (and semi supergroup thanks to contributions from the group Nonsphere) URANUS. Remixed for 2021 from the unreleased 1983 album Journey to Uranus, this is a rich slice of looping, woozy space funk: a trippy journey to the stars that’s as slippery as an eel. Mix that with a bit of psychedelic rock and a tab of acid and you have a unique bit of music history.

Imagine if Tangerine Dream weren’t benevolent humans, but were, instead, a group of cold hearted androids, full of anger and sadness as they pummelled their human slaves with increasingly menacing arpeggios from barely working analogue synths. That could easily describe the experimental sonic onslaught from RUBY THROAT and their new minimix, Drowned. Waves of bleeps and rusty melodies from another time threaten to overwhelm the listener in an anxiety-inducing stream of electro consciousness.

New minimix from master of the weirdo electro, APPARITION, with a genre-hopping slice of bendy house and glitchy breakbeats. The mix, called “Sudo Purge” makes you think you’re in for lofi hip hop treat and then wrong foots you with a bit of wonky jazz before careening headlong into a hypnotic four-on-the-floor house track. I’m so confused.
