#028: Scarface and Miami Vice inspired Michael Santos to become a cocaine smuggler. He moved to Florida to coordinate shipments of the white gold to Seattle, then served hard time. Santos is currently caught up in what the FTC says is "the largest overseas real estate investment scam it has ever targeted."

#027: Raised in a gated community in a fancy Seattle neighborhood, owner of a construction company, a theater and a popular pizza parlor ... David Mendoza had it all. He was also addicted to pot smuggling. He started with hockey bag-sized loads, then graduated to trucks and helicopters. After being busted prosecutors promised to extradite him to Spain in exchange for a guilty plea, then double-crossed him.

#025: Long before Scott Weiland married his third wife and then died of an overdose, his second wife wrote a tell-all biography called Fall to Pieces. She starred in a music video of the same name promoting Scott's band Velvet Revolver. It's method acting - she plays herself in the video. A rock star wife tormented by her husband's substance abuse issues. Mary had issues of her own. Lots of them.

#024: Many Seattle musicians from the 1980s punk rock scene fell into addiction and never made it out. Guitarist, user and dealer Tom Hansen survived. After over a decade of mainlining he ended up in the hospital and was near death, but he recovered, went back to school and became the well-respected writer of American Junkie: his brutally honest autobiography. WARNING: This episode contains graphic drug use, gruesome hospital scenes and grim anecdotes about Seattle rock stars who are no longer with us.

#023: In 1928 Decasto Eugene Mayer and his mother Mary Ellen Smith murdered a guy, chopped him up, and stole his car. The body was never found, but Mayer confessed after being subjected to relatively new interrogation techniques - injections of truth serum and the lie detector. On the eve of his almost certain conviction ten years later he killed himself - Epstein-style - in his cell. Smith lived to be 100.
