  • Trade: Intropin
  • Class: Vasopressor /Sympathomimetic 
  • MOA: Stimulates alpha and beta adrenergic receptors resulting in inotropy and increased cardiac output while maintaining dopaminergic induced vasodilatory effects.
  • Indications: Hypotension and decreased cardiac output associated with cardiogenic shock and septic shock. Hypotension after ROSC. Symptomatic Bradycardia that doesn’t respond to atropine
  • Contraindications: VF, VT, or other ventricular arrhythmias
  • Side effects : Tachycardia, arrhythmias, skin and soft tissue necrosis, severe HTN, angina, dyspnea, headache, N/V
  • Dosing

Adults: 2-20 mcg/kg/min IV/IO

Pedi: SAA
