This week we move into the book of Numbers.  The Israelites had been led to the edge of the Promised Land but they were hesitant to enter it.  After the report of the spies the choose their fear over faith in the Lord.  The result was a diversion back into the wilderness for the next 40 years.  Failing to follow the Lord in faith has consequences.

God did not arbitrarily put all of the rules in place for the Israelites. He was teaching them that He is holy. And for good reason! They were to be holy as He is holy. The same is true for us today. We may not be bound by all of the statutes in Leviticus anymore. But we are still called to be holy as God is holy.

Jesus says that those who are good soil will produce, 100, 60, and 30 fold from the initial seed that was planted. There is no limit to what God can do in any person fully surrendered to the Lord! What would it look like to see that kind of growth in each of us?

If I’m saved then it will all work out right? Not necessarily. God wants us to grow spiritually but that requires space and time to grow.

Week 2: Good Soil Needs Deep Roots

There are times when it’s easy to follow the Lord. But that’s not all the time. If true growth is going to occur then we will need deep roots. Otherwise the trials of this world will scorch our faith and wither our relationship with Jesus. Instead we need to sink roots deep down into the gospel to endure and even thrive in hard times.
