Members Reviews:
Good cast recording
This is a fine production. Regardless of belief, the high quality of Christian religious text recordings is also impressive. Another good recording is Ecknath Easwaran's translation of the Bhagavad Gita read by Paul Bazely; it has very nice music too.
The music in this recording is something rather characteristic of Christian audiobooks; that of rather boring yet, not unpleasant background music (usually piano, but strings aren't uncommon).
James Earl Jones' KJV New Testament reading is infamous for being distractingly underwhelming and unnessasary. Here though, the dramatic presentation of a full cast reading makes the whole thing feel rather cinematic with a soundtrack, but...it is all mostly just easy listening piano music. There's no variety and I suppose that's in an attempt to be distracting...still, verses like this in the bible
And David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring tidings to Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on us, saying, So did David, and so will be his manner all the while he dwelleth in the country of the Philistines.
1 Samuel 27:9
accompanied to the tinkling keys of ivory soundes rather insensitive, or least sureal. Intresting none the less.
