Maria is the sprawling romantic saga written by Columbian author Jorge Isaacs, in the 1860s, that many leading literary critics consider to be one of the defining works of Latin American literature.

Rousingly performed with fervent flair by a full Spanish speaking cast, this is the passionate and tortured story of Maria and Efrain, two desperate cousins whose dramatic love never truly had a chance. Fans of Gabriel Garcia Marquez will certainly find this tale enchanting.

FonoLibro, the leading Spanish-language audiobook producer in the Americas, presents a dramatization of Miguel Cervantes masterpiece, The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha, with original music and sound effects, and featuring notable actors from Latin American radio and television. Cervantes romantic description of the travels and adventures of the addle-brained Alonso Quijano and his "squire" Sancho Panza is not just the most influential work of literature from the Spanish Golden Age and the entire Spanish literary canon, but continues generation after generation to be a joyful "chivalric" experience.

Please note: This audiobook is in Spanish.

Crítica Comentarios:

"The well paused, highly dramatic narrations by Spain's Juan Manuel Montesinos, and by a diverse cast of qualified Latin American and Spanish readers, bring Sancho and Don Quixote's adventures to life, allowing listeners to follow the intricate and sometimes complex series of events and stories-within-stories of this amazing novel. Orlando Cuevas's rendering of Sancho stands out, as it evokes the humility, humor, and leisurely attitude of the character, just as Don Quixote's voice reflects the eloquence and lucidity amidst the folly that define this famous figure." Title: Lolita

Author: Vladimir Nabokov

Narrator: Jeremy Irons

Format: Unabridged

Length: 11 hrs and 32 mins

Language: English

Release date: 09-26-05

Publisher: Random House Audio

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 6034 votes

Genres: Classics, World Literature

Publisher's Summary:

Awe and exhilaration, along with heartbreak and mordant wit, abound in this account of the aging Humbert Humbert's obsessive, devouring, and doomed passion for the nymphet Dolores Haze. Lolita is also the story of a hypercivilized European colliding with the cheerful barbarism of postwar America. But most of all, it is a meditation on love - as outrage and hallucination, madness and transformation.

Critic Reviews:

"

Lolita is an authentic work of art which compels our immediate response and serious reflection, a revealing and indispensable comedy of horrors." (

San Francisco Chronicle)

"Language is essential to

Lolita, and Mr. Irons captures Humbert's voice perfectly. In the Random House audiobook, he read the novel with a sensitivity to the language that conveys all of Nabokov's humor, passion, and lyricism." (

The New York Times)

"Jeremy Irons...commands the text with the grand sense of character and palpable eroticism it requires.... The combination of Nabokovs prose and Ironss performance carries listeners out of a seat of judgment into Humberts pure admiration for and desire to possess that archetypical fire-energy of a young girl. This horrifyingly beautiful story of wild obsession truly comes alive in this audiobook production." (

Title: Molloy

Author: Samuel Beckett

Narrator: Sean Barrett, Dermot Crowley

Format: Unabridged

Length: 8 hrs and 34 mins

Language: English

Release date: 02-10-05

Publisher: Naxos AudioBooks

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 155 votes

Genres: Classics, World Literature

Publisher's Summary:

Written initially in French, later translated by the author into English, Molloy is the first book in Dublin-born Samuel Beckett's trilogy. It was published shortly after WWII and marked a new, mature writing style, which was to dominate the remainder of his working life. Molloy is less a novel than a set of two monologues narrated by Molloy and his pursuer, Moran.

In the first section, while consumed with the search of his mother, Molloy lost everything. Moran takes over in the second half, describing his hunt for Molloy. Within this simple outline, spoken in the first person, is a remarkable story, raising the questions of being and aloneness that marks so much of Beckett's work, but is richly comic as well. Beautifully written, it is one of the masterpieces of Irish literature.

Critic Reviews:

"These two skilled actors hold the book together remarkably well....In audio this work takes on the full richness of comedy, probably as Beckett, preeminently a dramatist, intended." (AudioFile)
