Only a Glimpse, So Much is Missing
Don't Rescue Me, God's Molding Me is mostly about a woman name Savannah who is down and out, but is trying to pick up the pieces in her life. She is a positive character, always trying to be upbeat, and always working to better herself. This story as a whole is very sweet and is very inspiring. But unfortunately, it didn't connect with me.
It felt rushed. I felt like an outsider looking in. I didn't learn anything about Savannah other than she's saved, which is wonderful, but what else is there to her? There's a lot of commentary, telling me what happened or happening. I wanted to "live" the life with Savannah and her neighbors on those pages, but unfortunately, Ms. Kinney didn't provide that experience. Give me something more than characters causing superficial arguments and trouble. As a reader, I want to be in the middle. Not looking through a window and only getting glimpses of the life in that apartment building.
As for the Kindle formatting, it wasn't that great. Huge spaces between paragraphs. Too much space between lines in paragraphs. Grammar and spelling errors were minor, but one check would get rid of the mistakes.
The story overall could have been interesting, if it was expanded more. The author has great potential, and I hope she keeps going in her writing and publishing endeavors.
    Easy Relatable Realistic Quick Read
I received this book free from Reading Deals, not for a review, but I wanted to state that anyway :-). Below is my honest opinion.
I enjoyed this book. It was short and to the point and could be read in one sitting. It held my interest as I wanted to see how each character's story ended. There were some grammatical errors, but not so much as it distracted from my reading enjoyment. I cared about each character. I grew up in the inner city which helped me relate to some of the ridiculousness of a couple of the characters. Some of their behavior was sadly laughable as it is how some people truly behave.
One of the 1 star comments asked "who was rescued?" I believe they all were, each of the three main characters, with the exception of the "Bible Thumper." The one who moved into that building was rescued in the sense that she found her purpose. The young girl was received Christ as her Savior. The young girl's mother as she had an encounter with God that changed her life. The door was left open for the "Bible Thumper" to be rescued as a letter was left for her to read at the end of the story.
The only con to this book was the grammatical errors and words misplaced, but again, it was not enough to distract my reading enjoyable.
Use Me Lord For Your Service
I enjoyed this book and the story byline is so typical of today if we are Christians. Christ sometimes allow things to happen to us in order for us to listen to Him and go in the direction that He wants us to go.

Friends don't let authors read their own books.
This book seemed interesting so I thought I'd gamble a credit. I actually enjoyed it and will probably read the next book and see what happens.
That being said the story is pretty flawed on a number of levels. First, the story is gun porn on an epic level. Even Larry Corriea would tell Mr. Lee to tone it done a bit. If you don't like that style then take a pass on this one. The author goes into every weapon and magic power in great (often excrutiating detail).
The author does a great job writing action scenes. The characters aren't very well developed but are likeable. Honestly, this seems more like author wish fulfillment than anything. This story reads like a comic book but I like comic books so I enjoyed it. I gave it 3 stars because of writing flaws more than lack of enjoyment.
Another issue is that the author starts sentences and paragraphs with the name of the character being spoken to a whole lot. it can be kind of annoying and gives the writing a staggering, almost Shatner-like quality to the timing. With slow halting sentences followed by several rapid ones following.
The author read his own book. For the love of God please quit doing this! I felt like the guy tried his best and I liked the main characters voice as he sounds like a higher pitched, slightly nasally version of Macleod Andrews (who would be a great narrarator for the series). The reading was bad enough to be entertaining in its awfulness (if that makes sense) more than annoying. it should also get an award for one having one of the worst Scottish accents of all time. He tries but goes from Scottish, to Liverpool English to American all in the same sentence. Not the worst accent I've ever heard in a book but defnitiely the second worst with a bullet.
The cosmology of the series was actually pretty interesting. The humor in the book is pretty good. I enjoyed this one enough to try the next story in the series. This is what I call a solid 3 star story. It has some good points but is series flawed in many areas. If you want a light action series with humor you might like this one, just don't put it high on your to do list.
    The Performance Ruins It
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I would have likely finished listening to this book if a more engaging, professional narrator had performed it.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I was interested in how a thief could become a paladin.

    The narrater was awfull.
What would have made Stepping Down better?
    Get rid of the narrator
If youve listened to books by Michelle Stimpson before, how does this one compare?
    the story line was good.
How could the performance have been better?
    edit out the mistakes
What character would you cut from Stepping Down?
    good characters
    Any additional comments?
the narrator cleared his throat, and grossed me out. I thought something was wrong with the recording until I realized he was repeating the line because he was not reading it right.
He kept mispronouncing the characters names. This was the worse narrator I have every listened to. Because of William Butler I really did not enjoy this book as much as I should have. Please, please review the people that read for you I can promise you will loose listeners If they have to listen to the gross way this man coughed and cleared his throat on the recording. It was truly gross. Michelle you books are really good please don't make this mistake again.
    Narration very disappointing
Would you try another book from Michelle Stimpson and/or William Butler?
Not the narrator -- I may purchase another of the author's books.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Family unity and overcoming communication issues.
What didnt you like about William Butlers performance?
There were major problems with the clarity of narrator's speech. Inexcusable issues with (mis) pronunciation and enunciation of words. Lacked the appropriate inflections of the voice that would be expected of someone reading a book aloud. Unpolished, unprofessional.
What character would you cut from Stepping Down?
    None
    Any additional comments?
    N/A
    Awful performance by the narrator
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes but only if there is a different narrator.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Good story. I like the author's work.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator was awful. He mispronounced many of the words. The "do-overs" we're not edited out. The volume shifted from low to high. Some of the text was skipped (I guess a recording malfunction) but consequently there were parts of the book I didn't hear.

    a new family
This is a very interesting and believe able story. Young people in the days of wagon trains and settling this country had to help their family. They learned by doing chores such as gathering wood and hauling water when they were probably 3 or 4 years old. They didn't get away with whining or having a fit but learned do what they were told. The family of boys took to helping the young woman who also had been orphaned and the baby she had found. It was a logical solution they came up with after each of them had put their trust in God.
    Love in action.
This book shows God's love for His children. He leads them through difficult losses, and shows them how to love. An orphaned baby is cared for by a group of orphans. I don't want to spoil it, so I won't say more. I thought it was a very good story. Christian theme. No bad language or sex. The editing was very bad, leaving the reader to figure out what certain sentences were supposed to actually say or mean. Otherwise, I enjoyed the book. A simple short story. Would like to have read an epilogue that included how the family continued on......maybe a sequel?
    Awesome story
I love the story from the beginning to the end, very Christian oriented, I would love to read another one just like it

The year is 1943, and Samson Abrams has just made a life or death decision, coming to the aid of a young Jewish boy being beaten by the Nazis. Before long, Samson's entire family must board the train to Auschwitz. As they arrive at the camp, Dr. Joseph Mengele, a man who will later go down in history as a person of pure evil, oversees the "selection" process. The young, weak, and elderly are all sent to their deaths. Samson tries to attack, but is calmed by Maximilian Kolbe, a Catholic monk also at the camp. Samson is soon recognized as a 1936 Olympic boxing participant and is offered a deal: he can box for his life, but if he loses, he will find himself on Mengele's experimental operating table. Adding to the complexity is the slow renewal of Samson's faith through his relationship with Kolbe. Here, he must somehow reconcile with God while he witnesses the violent, tortured deaths of so many. A historic battle ensues with Hitler, Himmler, Höss, and many of the highest ranking officials in the Nazi Party watchingan incredible final fight which culminates in Mengele himself getting in the ring.

This one kept me up for several hours, long past my bedtime, because I did NOT want to stop reading!
This was my first novel to read by Deborah Raney and I was very impressed with how quickly this story grabbed me and kept me interested. You don't know how many times I wanted to jump ahead on my Kindle and find out what happened to Jill, but I didn't cheat! I thought the author put out a great question for us to think about...how seriously do we take our marriage vows? I really have to give Mitch credit for being faithful to his wife, without knowing if he would ever find out the truth about her disappearance. I'm excited to find a new author that writes compelling stories, and I look forward to reading some of her other books soon!
A lot of details little movement
I did not enjoy it. It mainly consisted of a man's search for his wife.
Mostly, a hour by hour, and day by day, personal thoughts some movement towards an expected finish. To say the story is excruciatingly slow, to me, is an understatement.
I generally enjoy books marked "Christian Fiction". I found myself avoiding some of the inner dialogue and looked for quotation marks which moved the story forward. Being a retired Chaplain and Counselor , my viewpoint and experience with grief situations influences my view point a bit. I wanted the book to be better.
    Fantastic!
This definitely rated 5 stars from me. Would have been a 6 star rating if they had it. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The plot was pleasantly different from the usual then what I'm use to. The plot and characters were well developed. Mitch and Shelly's story kept my interest with all its twist and turns, from the very beginning until the very end. I would think I knew how it would end and then something would happen to make me think differently and it would happen again. It just really kept my interest throughout. It definitely went on my Read Again list! I highly recommend this book!
Another beautiful novel from Deborah Raney
Deborah Raney is quickly becoming my favorite Christian author. This particular novel brought tears several times throughout the book. The characters and facts were so real that I felt the weight and the agony of the story for hours after I had set the book aside. It was as if this tragedy had happened to my dear friend or family member. Thank you, Deborah Raney for this beautiful book; it's a treasure!
Deeply moving story of love and loss
I felt the pain, frustration, sorrow and finally the peace of knowing your loved one is safe with the Lord. It would be so hard to go through such an experience. Missing and no trace of where she disappeared or what happened. The joy of finding a new love and resolution of what had happened.

Where does Witness rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
    near the bottom
What other book might you compare Witness to and why?
    None comes to mind.
What didnt you like about Ruth Elsbrees performance?
I could not finish listening to it. I really tried but her style is not for me. Got on my nerves.
If you could take any character from Witness out to dinner, who would it be and why?
    The main character
    Any additional comments?
The book itself is pretty good. The narrator made the book impossible for me to finish.
    History made personal
If you could sum up Witness in three words, what would they be?
    Moving, fascinating history
What other book might you compare Witness to and why?
    Sheen's The Seven Last Words
What about Ruth Elsbrees performance did you like?
Each character was uniquely presented. Her verbal expression was outstanding and the singing of the prayers was wonderful.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Christ's passion through a shepherdess' eyes
    Any additional comments?
One of the best audio books I've listened to.

If you could sum up Witness in three words, what would they be?
    suspenseful
    informative
    engaging
What was one of the most memorable moments of Witness?
. The message that stood out for me is that staying obedient to Gods laws as Rivkah and Shemuel did, not only guards us against guilt and regret, but brings true happiness because that is what He wants for us. Thus, the most memorable moment was their reunion.
Which character as performed by Ruth Elsbree was your favorite?
    Rivkah's father
If you could take any character from Witness out to dinner, who would it be and why?
The centurion - because I would like to talk more with him about his realization that "Christ was truly the son of God."

    Profiled by Renee Andrews
This book has many twist and turns in it, I thought I had it narrowed down to who done it but I was wrong, I recommend this book. I think I would have enjoyed better knowing the struggle Lexie had before getting into the plot, but all in all its a very good read.
    A great twisting, turning mystery
Would you consider the audio edition of Profiled to be better than the print version?
I can't really answer if the audio edition is better than the print version as I haven't read the book in paper form. However, I greatly enjoy crime/murder/thriller stories in both formats so I suspect I would have enjoyed it either way. However, this book got kept me company during a decorating project :) - I found I could concentrate on the work I was doing at home and still follow the plot of the story so it was exactly the right pace of story and level of detail for me at that time.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved the strength of the two women, but I found the Christian aspects of their personality a little hard to deal with
What does Robert Armin bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you had only read the book?
I probably would have read the book with a female voice in my head so it was interesting to hear it with a male narration
I found the strong accent of the narration a little jarring at first, but within the first chapter I had settled into the rhythm of the voice and it helped lend atmosphere and character to the setting of the story.
    Any additional comments?
I'm a big fan of the TV series "criminal minds" and I was really pleased to discover this FBI profiling story - even better, it's the start of a series!
I love Karin Slaughter's books as well, so finding this set in a fictionally-familiar area was nice as well.
I personally didn't enjoy the religious aspects of the story, but these are small and did not dominate the plot - as I say though, that's just personal taste.
I was impressed with the twists and turns as it managed to keep me wondering rather than working it all out early on.
