Ian Baringer may have stumbled upon the greatest discovery of all time. Or possibly, the greatest curse...
As a child, Ian lost his parents in a horrific accident, seeing them give their lives to save his. He never fully recovered, burying pangs of guilt, clinging to religion's promise that someday he'd see his parents again.
But now his demons have resurfaced. Despite the help of Angela Weber, the brilliant psychologist who loves him, he's in the grip of an obsession. He no longer trusts in an afterlife, he must know for certain if the soul survives death.
And incredibly, he may have found a way. A risky bid to cross death's door and return with Knowledge of the Great Beyond. Knowledge that can be verified by anyone who follows his path. The implications are staggering. Proof of a hereafter! Perhaps of God, Himself! Knowledge to halt wars, to end at last the ancient animosities between faiths! Or perhaps a Knowledge to doom us all....
Some believe death's secrets are forbidden to the living, cursed with grave consequences for Humanity. One shadowy sect is sworn to destroy all trespassers, and Ian and Angela have but one hope to survive. They must defy the gates of heaven and hell to steal a Knowledge hidden from the world since the dawn of creation: the knowledge of good and evil.

A Fun Journey with a Gifted Narrator
Find the full review at my blog, The Guilded Earlobe:
Its no secret that I am a fan of MacLeod Andrews work as a narrator. One thing I love about his work is his voice isnt the typical narrator voice. Its not a deep, booming testosterone rich bass voice, nor is it a silky smooth tenor. Andrews voice is full of gravel and grit, and he manages to take his voice and make it suit the text he is reading just right. Here, Andrews brings the story alive, able to take on a cast full of international accents as well and otherworldly beings. Andrews manages to bring a true authenticity to his characters whether they are a Slavic priest, or a denizen of the deepest pits of hell. Andrews moves the plot along well with his crisp pacing that smoothed out any of the roughness of the story. His pacing is fast enough to create tension, while not so fast that it muddles the action. The true highlight for me was Andrews handling of heaven and hell, managing to make Angels sound Angelic while making the demons totally creepy. Really, it was a lot of fun taking a journey like this with a talented narrator.
    A Dance with the Devil
Ian is a complicated guy: He is in love with the extraordinarily beautiful and smart Angela, is studying Near Death Experiences and trying to rescue his beloved parents from Hell after they saved his life when they were in a car accident together. Author Glenn Kleier has given people who enjoy tense thrillers a reason to celebrate... The Knowledge of Good And Evil is imaginative, taught, tense and enough narrow escapes to keep the reader going.
Angela is the type of heroine we all love: she is bright, smart, listens to her own, interior panic button and saves Ian more than once from heading into straight folly. I'm not sure a book exactly like this has ever been attempted before. For one thing, the reader gets about 30 prompts to a web page to show the readers a particular painting or a scientist in the world of certain esoteric sciences. The reader doesn't have to wonder why a special church in Europe is so distinct....

Now she faces an impossible choice between the music in her heart and the traditions branded upon her soul.

    Perfect comfort read (or listen!)
Loved this! Brilliant series. I find that listening to a book on audio makes it rather hard to write a full review as it took me about a month to get through this book, but Rosalind Lauer's Amish novels are simply the perfect comfort reads (or listens). I get attached to her characters and really care about them. I think my only complaint about this book would be that it didn't have a conventional story arc, and I did wonder at times when the story would get going or what direction it would head in. Very much looking forward to reading the third book in the series! 4.5

As MacLaren tracks down clues from all corners of Hopewell, GA, four like suspects emerge. But the police aren't buying her theories. Even her husband, local magistrate Joe Riddley, resists her amateur sleuthing. This case, he feels, is too dangerous. Just how dangerous, both of them are about to discover. A charming mystery set in the South!
This story holds your attention while dropping enough clues and red herrings to keep you guessing. Patricia. Sprinkle is now on my preferred list of cozy mystery authors.

What did you love best about Lost Melody?

    Very enjoyable thanks so much
Would you consider the audio edition of Lost Melody to be better than the print version?
I love to read but don't always have the time, so enjoy listening as I work, it makes the work go easier and faster.
What about Emily Durantes performance did you like?
Yes , she did a great job and her expressions were good.
Christian romance with a story twist.
It is a slow start. I actually was not going to continue listening but I received a request for a review. It is an interesting concept but a slow story to unfold. All in all I enjoyed the story.
    Boring, Simplistic, Empty
Eight hours of emptiness and repetition. Like chewing all day on a piece of used up gum. Utterly obtuse, and simple minded. One and a half under-developed ideas are dragged through the reader's mind for the duration (in an attempt at keeping up suspense, but actually devolving into bored frustration) until this pathetic writing effort finally ends.
    Excellent Story
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. It kept my interest until the very end.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Lost Melody?
The pianist learned she could pass her gift on by teaching.
Have you listened to any of Emily Durantes other performances before? How does this one compare?
    No
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
    Made me laugh and cry.
    Any additional comments?
    No

    Bill Myers rocks again
I pretty much enjoy all of Bill Myers works, but it's always better when he narrates his books himself because he knows where to put the passion in and since he knows the characters he knows how to bring their personalities across.

    Publisher's Summary:
An epic tale of good and evil based on the four horsemen of the Apocalypse found in the book of Revelation. Using the four horsemen of the Apocalypse to symbolize the four Gospels, four transcendentals, and four forces of the universe (air, water, earth, and fire), Sweet and Wagner weave a fast-paced, end-times tale of good vs. evil and the promise of a new dawn for humanity. Set in 2048, when planet Earth is suffering from the damaging effects of years of misuse and abuse, cultural history professor Paul Binder receives a mysterious letter that leads him to examine a lost 2nd-century Diatessaron manuscript. Ancient prophecies, cryptic letters, and strange events set him on a course to uncover the missing clues that could lead humanity into a new age. Each character embodies elements of the four horsemen in a race to save the world from total destruction.
Layered with forgotten symbolism from the ancient Jewish and Christian traditions, the book is a story in which the main character's journal serves as a guide to the reader in interpreting clues and understanding the conclusion.

    Slow start but superior ending!
This story starts off a little slow and complicated. But as the story progresses it all comes together and turns out to be an awesome story! I look forward to book 2!
Avoid unless you are a teen or younger
Yet another YA novel that is not labelled as such
The story is good and well written for the target audience..
The narrator is a different story, His normal reading voice is quite good but his attempts at Scottish & English accents are cringe-worthy.
Overall, a stumbling start for a possibly great series.
    Very Poor.
I really struggled to finish this one. In fact, all I did after chapter 11 was skip through to the end. The story was weak and the narration was absolutely terrible. This guy Dikeos sounded like he was reading to four year olds with his nasally voice.
Very bad accents spoiled the listen
This reader (Gary Dikeos) has the worst and most irritating UK accents I have ever heard. The great shame is that he has a very pleasant natural soft American accent. His Scottish accents alternate between some sort of Olde English, cockney and goodness only knows what else. The book was spoiled by the narration.
