Yet another good story by this author.
Another great story by Ann. All her books tell stories that are compelling.

Loved it, as I have all of the other novels by Ann Gabhart. Great book and interesting look at what the Shakers belief was and why some people joined them.
    Romance and Intrigue
Strange that romance and intrigue could be found in a Shaker novel, but the author skillfully wove them together. Even better she added Asher, the faithful, heroic dog! Read and enjoy.
    Great Reading
Great author and a great book. Hard to put down once you start reading it.
    Five Stars
Great period piece with relevant information about the Shaker beliefs and lifestyle.

At last! Short works by some of CBA's best-loved fiction authors, including Jerry Jenkins, Randy Alcorn, Terri Blackstock, Deborah Raney, and Angela Elwell Hunt, are compiled in one gripping volume! These masterfully told short stories promise to transport listeners around the globe with amazing tales of international romance, mystery, and humor. A short bio accompanying each story allows listeners to "meet" their favorite author. The book even has a philanthropic element: all contributors are donating their royalties to The JESUS Film Project, a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ International.

Not new, very inexpensive, never outdated
What a delicious reading find. The price is simply the cost of the shipping at this point in time. The 29 stories short stories are from a wide variety of very accomplished Christian writers. What a great way to try out new authors. What a wonderful book to set aside for short reading periods. It takes only a few minutes to read one story.
All of the authors contributed the royalty they should have received to the Jesus Film project.
I believe my favorite, although many of the authors have already become favorites of mine before I found this book, was the story titled "At the Village Gate" by Sigmund Brouwer. It had such a surprise ending. I was caught off guard. But many others were a close, tying second place.
This is also a value purchase for any church library. Treat your church friends and buy it for your church. You and they will be blessed. I was.
    Five Stars
    great book to read
    Uneven but not unenjoyable.
I've always loved short stories. And I've read enough short stories to know that writing a *good* short story is a tremendously difficult art. The writers of this collection may have proved themselves at writing novels, with successful Christian novelists such as Karen Kingsbury, Randy Alcorn, Angela Elwell Hunt, Terri Blackstock, Jerry B. Jenkins, Sigmund Brouwer and others all trying their hand at the shorter form of writing. These writers collectively are members of ChiLibris, an organization of Christian novelists, with all royalties going to the evangelistic efforts of the JESUS Film Project. The stories themselves have the theme of international settings and travel, and like the novels of these writers seek to focus our attention on eternal spiritual truths. Their ambitions and intentions may be noble, but that doesn't mean that they are guaranteed to write good short stories. Fortunately, they themselves are not very pretentious, as is evident from the introduction.
The collection of 29 stories as a package is rather so-so, with many rather "ordinary" stories that fail to stir emotion or the heart. But there are a few outstanding efforts that are certainly worth reading.

    POWERFUL MESSAGE AND STORY!
Would you listen to Hush in the Storm again? Why?
If it was edited...the clicking at the end of parts...and the rough recording in certain places was really irritating....
What other book might you compare Hush in the Storm to and why?
I am sure there are other books out there about this subject...but I have not listened to them yet...
What does Lynden Blossom bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
    She does...she gave a good performance...I would give her a B-
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, it too long and drawn out...not a bad book at all, its a good book...just could have been condensed a bit...and for a strong female character Jen is also weak...at times I was like...REALLY?
    Any additional comments?
** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **
First off, I want to say I really like a good christian story...I like when people have faith...I like when people find there way back to faith...and this had that!
Jen thinks her husbands dead, and is grieving for him...then all of a sudden she gets wrapped up in this crazy dangerous world...she is kidnapped, drugged, and introduced to the dirty truth...Her husband was not a good man...she is in grave danger and the man who is trying to help her is someone she is not sure she can trust....she turns to God again finally and eventually gets through this...and is actually rewarded in the end in my opinion...This was a good story, decent narration and I liked the happy ending!
    Thank You Audiobookblast(dot)com
    Good!
Truthfully it took me a bit to get into this story at first. It's not my typical genre but something about this story sounded interesting to me and I'm glad I stuck with it because I really enjoyed this one. The narration was really well done and the story itself had a couple things I didn't see coming and I really enjoyed it.
** A copy of this audio book was provided in exchange for an honest review**
Very well detailed and relevant story.
Where does Hush in the Storm rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
It isn't my genre, so it's the only reason it doesn't rank high.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the wholesome relationship of the main character and Tom/Travis.
What does Lynden Blossom bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I thought she brought the main character to life and gave her a realist voice.

They've helped orchestrate the perfect day for countless couples. Now 12 new couples will find themselves in the wedding spotlight in the second Year of Weddings novella collection.
Mari wants her sister Crystal's wedding to be perfect. But a poorly-chosen maid of honor may turn it into a disaster.
Mari Hays's older sister Crystal is getting married, and Mari is ecstatic to be part of the wedding. But she soon finds her expected role of maid of honor has been delegated to the worst possible choice: Sienna Jameson. She's catty, selfish, and totally into herself, and when Sienna discovers handsome professional baseball player Derrick Richardson is the best man, she sets her sights on her next boyfriend instead of on the wedding plans.
Meanwhile, Mari is determined to keep the glamorous event afloat. Wrapped up in dress fittings, bridal showers, and baking teacup-shaped cookies, she is shocked when Derrick has taken notice of her. In fact, he treats her like she's a home run. With the wedding day looming, an emotional and sensitive sister, a selfish maid of honor, and intense pressure from Crystal's soon-to-be in-laws, Mari fears her attempts to make her sister's wedding perfect will be for naught.
Can Mari keep the waters calm until the bride and groom jet off for their honeymoon? And will she allow herself to be caught by Houston's most eligible bachelor?

    LOVED IT
Mari's older sister is getting married. And Mari couldn't be more thrilled for her, except for the fact that her sister chose her best friend to be the maid of honor. No problem. Mari will still work hard to make her sister's day be perfect, despite the maid of honor who is doing everything wrong. The groom's best man is the handsome right fielder for the Houston Astros, Derrick Richardson. As Mari assists her sister in all of the wedding details, she and Derrick find themselves thrown together more and more frequently. What starts as a friendship soon develops into something else.
I absolutely LOVED this book. Janice's books always make me laugh. And this one was no exception. I'd love to see Mari & Derrick in another book. I loved the way that the main characters stepped in to ensure that the bride and groom's special day was everything it could be despite the very undependable maid of honor.
    Great book
This book made me smile and laugh. I enjoyed it so much. Mari sister Crystal is getting married. She is really excited to help with the wedding and would really love to be maid of honor but things don't work that way. Her sister choices Sienna who is not really into helping with the wedding. She is more interested in the best man and what she wants herself. Derrick is the best man and he finds himself attracted to Mari. I love the nickname he calls her. You will need to read it to find out what it is. A different twist on a wedding story. Really love the story.
    What a great, feel-good story!
Mari Hays is excited to find out her sister is marrying the love of her life and has so many ideas for the perfect wedding..... Until she finds out her sister picked someone else to be the maid of honor. Mari doesn't let it get her down and is determined to make sure her sisters wedding dreams come true, despite her place at the end of the bridesmaid line.

The Tale of Two Thieves: The Untold Story by J. D. Snyder is a novel of redemption, courage, and faith. It was written by an author who has experienced all of these through the Lord despite, and perhaps because of, tragedy in his own life. Listeners who are struggling with their faith, and even ones who are not, will be deeply touched by this story.
The cover design is beyond beautiful. I love the colors. Such a rich look! The cover and title make clear the type of book this is. The author will immediately find his audience of listeners who are open to stories about Christianity.
The story itself is not for children; it is violent and touches upon tough issues, although with restraint and not prurience. I was immediately taken into the time, place, and setting where the author wanted me to go. The story is gripping.
I hope many people discover this wonderful author and story.

    READ the book...Different Narrator Please...:-(
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The story was AWESOME and it really made me think about who the thieves could have been and how they arrived at their death sentence,
Who was your favorite character and why?
Titus...He believed that Jesus was the Messiah.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Guy Veryzer?
ANYONE! Terrible narrator, i will avoid any book narrated by him. Shame, because the short book was unique and thought-provoking
Could you see The Tale of Two Thieves being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Yes. I would love it if PURE FLIX made the movie, they are getting better and better!
    Any additional comments?

I've never even considered why the two thieves were divided in the way they treated Jesus but this story makes me think on those little things we often overlook

    Great Addition! Wonderful Author!
Hard to believe that this is the ninth book in this series. Each book builds this series to an even stronger read. I love each of the characters and how the author develops them. He really is able to bring his characters to life. I am so glad to have found this author and his books. He takes the time to research and set each scene and each scenario in the book. It helps that I also know some of the area in which his books are taking place. I will continue to read this author and pray he continues to write these wonderful novels.
In this book, Fannie is still on the run from both the drug ring and the law. Which will find her first? Meanwhile, the Sheriff is struggling in his own life. Will he be able to settle this matter or will this be the case that will break him? While it is a continuation of the 8th book, this book can be read as a stand alone. With all the twists and turns in the mystery, one cannot but keep turning the page. I would highly recommend this novel!!
    Engaging
Having read all the previous books in P. L. Gaus' series of Amish Country Mysteries, I was eagerly awaiting this latest one. Even though I was familiar with many of the characters already, in this book Gaus developed several of them with great sensitivity and introspection. The plot takes some unexpected turns to keep the reader engaged and guessing. My only disappointment was that the book ended, and I'll have to wait for another to be written and published. Please keep writing, Mr. Gaus!
    Enjoyable
I've enjoyed this series, and keeping up with the character's lives and their development. While an exciting mystery, I feel this was more people driven than the mystery itself. It is a slow paced story with lots of extra information about the Amish, which I assume was correct (such as woman's dresses, etc). I wish I had paid more attention to the dates and times at the start of each chapter, and I also wish I would have reread the previous novel "The Names of Our Tears", then the mystery would have been easier to predict who did it. All in all, an enjoyable read.
Completes "The Names of Our Tears"
This book completes "The Names of Our Tears" story line. It helps to read the entire series from the beginning since characters from earlier ones reappear in them and each book is one year later, building on your knowledge of the town and it's inhabitants. This series is family friendly. There are murders to be solved, but without detailed graphic violence or explicit sex. I would be comfortable letting a teenager read any of these books.
Another good book by this author
This writer has improved in his writing style, although his books are always interesting. He used to write in phrases, now uses full sentences, which I like better. The story is somewhat improbable, but I did enjoy the book.

    Publisher's Summary:
David Grasso has gotten an email from no one. He knows this is impossible, but with a blank "sender" field and no other identifying marks, he's left incapable of tracing the source. The email claims to be from his brother, but David knows it can't be, because his brother is dead.
Upon reading the body text he becomes furious, not at the obvious attempt at deceit, but at what the email says. Furious someone would use his brother's name to perpetuate a lie. Furious the lie existed at all.
Emails from Heaven is a novel following David Grasso's struggle to make sense of the email and those that followed. As a graphic designer at a high-powered ad firm in downtown Chicago, David spends most of his waking hours at the office. He's unmarried, has few friends, and his coworkers bore him. His life is a monotonous running clock. But when the email arrives, his world is turned on end, and he will go to any length to reveal the source and explain the seemingly inconceivable circumstances that led to it showing up in his inbox.
This is the story of one man's struggle with mystery, death, and the idea of faith. When logic is suspended, all that remains is one timeless question:
    What if?

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good fiction read. I'm not really a "reader" but I took a chance on this book because I read his last book and was intrigued to see what this was about. Surprisingly it wasn't what I expected with a title like Emails From Heaven. While the title lead me to believe that this may be another super religious book, it wasn't that at all. I enjoyed the character development of the main character and at many points had a hard time putting it down because I wanted to see what would happen next. Overall I would recommend it.

Iâll say it right from the beginning â Mr. Neumann got me with Emails from Heaven. The teaser 'email' intrigued me quite a bit, and when I started reading it, I was absolutely and completely drawn in. I read front to back in one day....couldn't put it down!! Itâs rare that I find a novel that so riveting that I was wrapped up in to the mystery and found myself faithfully asking 'What it'? Mr. Neumann is an outstanding, creative writer!!
... second book I've read by Sam Neumann and my favorite so far
This is the second book I've read by Sam Neumann and my favorite so far. I literally couldn't put it down. Emails from Heaven forces you to think about the bigger picture and what you should do with this short life you're given. I fell in love with the characters and found myself rooting for them as I read. I finished the book last night feeling content and looking forward to whatever Sam has up his sleave next.
    An engaging surprise
It's not really about the emails. It's about so much more. The more you read, the more you're drawn in. The main character David, is like someone we all know, an ordinary guy, trying to make sense of his life and what's important, what's not. If you've ever worked in an office you'll easily relate to the "office politics." I loved the supporting characters, and the fishing trip David takes with the offices "outcast" Martin.

Some stories take generations to unfold. Gabriel Clarke has the River in his blood: The River that he loved as a child. The River that took his father, John. The River he feared, fled...and has come back to now. Jacob Fielding owes the last twenty years of his life to John Clarkethe stranger who drowned saving him and his brother from their own boyish recklessness. Since that day Jacob's gratitude has extended to everyone around him...especially Gabriel, that brave man's son. But while the death of John Clarke became a powerful force for good in Jacob, it has been an unshakable source of darkness in another man. When gratitude and guilt meet at the River two decades after that fateful day, Gabriel finds himself face to face with a stark choice for his own future: anger or forgiveness, hatred or love, death or life. So much more than an allegory, Into the Canyon will inspire you to love deeply, forgive extravagantly, and live large.

An Inspirational Journey on The River
In this sequel to The River, Gabriel Clark learns to become a river guide. Jacob Fielding, the man Gabriel's father saved at the expense of his own life, takes him into his family and the into his guide business. Gabriel is still struggling with his fears of The River, but the more he learns the more he trusts himself and feels The River is his true home.
The book is peopled with characters from The River: Jacob Fielding and his daughters Tabitha and Sadie, Ezra Buchanan, Gabriel's mother, Maggie, and Rio, his marvelous dog. The book is a continuation of Gabriel's struggle to forgive, give of himself, and find love. The plot is very simple, no twists or complex threads, but it you enjoy inspirational reading, this is a good book.
For me, the major problem with the book is that the writing is very simple and sometimes awkward. However, this doesn't distract too much from the description of the wild river and surroundings. In fact, The River is the major character in the book. The other other character including Gabriel are rather one dimensional. They suffer, but it is almost a foregone conclusion that they will succeed. It seems too easy.
The descriptions of white water rafting are worth reading the book for. They are accurate and exciting. If you enjoy the outdoors, camping, hiking, and rafting, you'll enjoy this book. Likewise if you like inspirational books, this is one for you.
I reviewed this book for Thomas Nelson's BookLook Bloggers.

    Members Reviews:
While Exciting, the Novel Suffers from a Lack of Plot
While an enticing sequel to the previous book, The Last Sacrifice suffers heavily from a lack of clear direction.
    Pros:
A lot of the pros from the previous book still stand. The characters are still interesting and complicated, the eschatological view is still great, and the book is still page-turning and very hard to put down. While none of these are as top-line as in book one, they're still good enough to keep the book interesting.
    Cons:
While this was present in the previous book, this becomes very noticeable in this book: namely, that the book as a whole doesn't have a real plot. There's no discernable goals for many of the characters, other than to stay alive and escape. As a result, the story is mostly driven by the character's reactions to events rather than acting to events. And so you don't really feel like the story has gotten anywhere at the end of the book. It has set up the last book really well. But it feels like, plot-wise, that's all the story is: set-up. And so while it was an enjoyable read, it feels like it should be 50% shorter and part of Book 3, instead of its own separate book.
As a follow-up to the above point, the book has a really abrupt ending. Not as in a cliff-hanger ending--I love good cliff-hanger endings like Empire Strikes Back or Catching Fire. But it really feels like the author just chose an arbitrary point to split Book 2 and Book 3. There's no real climax to this book.
    Overall:
This book is a lot weaker than Book One, mostly because, while this happened in book one as well, it just becomes really clear that there's no real plot for each book in the series: the plot is just an overarching one in the series as a whole. This makes each book feel more like an installment in a TV series than a book that is solely good on its own merits. Because most of this book is a set-up for Book 3, then, a lot of how good this book is depends on how good Book 3 ends up being. If Book 3 blows me away, then the set-up was at least partially worth it. Otherwise, while the story is engaging and a fun read, the lack of structure really hurts the story.
All Three Books make for a Good Story
Well written and good character development. This series is a short rebuttal to the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye.
