    Publisher's Summary:
Is There Really a Fountain of Youth in Paradise?
Welcome back to Bright's Pond, where strange happenings are afoot at the Greenbrier Nursing Home. The folks have suddenly grown younger, happier, and even a bit friskier thanks to Leon Fontaine, the newest Paradise Trailer Park resident. But Mildred Blessing is suspicious and sets out to investigate while the wedding to end all weddings is being planned. Only in Bright's Pond, nothing ever really goes as planned....
    Critic Reviews:
"What's better than Bright's Pond? Bright's Pond at Christmas time. Magnin hasn't just created characters - she's created friends you'll love spending time with. You'll love every page of this quirky delight, and when that last chapter is read, you'll be ready for more of Griselda and the rest of the Bright's Pond residents." (Jenny B. Jones, award-winning author of romantic comedies such as Save the Date and A Charmed Life series)
"The queen of quirk does it again. With her signature wit and charm and penchant for surprise, Joyce Magnin takes us on a leisurely read through Bright's Pond, where uncannily loveable characters reside - God in the midst of them. I want to move there." (Nancy Rue, author of The Reluctant Prophet)
"Creative and fun, a visit to Bright's Pond for the Holidays is just what the doctor ordered. Who can resist spry octogenarians in hot pursuit of the Fountain of Youth or romance in trouble. But it is the endearing thread of love and sympathy that runs through the characters that makes readers return." (Cathy Gohlke, Christy Award-winning author of William Henry is a Fine Name and I Have Seen Him in the Watchfires)

    Sweet story
Sweet story with fun and interesting characters. The town of Bright's Pond is full of unique individuals. But whether they've lived there all their lives or are newbies to the town, they bond together to make a delightful community. Relationships develop, choices have to be made, and lives are changed forever. Blame it on the Mistletoe is a quick and entertaining story that will have you chuckling and tearing up as you fall in love with the folks who celebrate life and cheer each other on through the good days and the bad.
    Really good read for Christmas
    MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Welcome back to Brights Pond and the characters we love so well there. The Holidayâs will be different for Griselda this year since Agnes is in an assistant living place. Agnes seems to adjust well at the Greenbriar Nursing home except for one thing, and that is, something strange is going on around there. The patients seem to act younger all of a sudden. Like one of the older, and smaller ladies riding around on a tricycle? What on earth is happening there? Well, like me, you will need to read this book to find out all about it. And in reading Blame it on the Mistletoe, you will laugh and sometimes cry as these characters live out their story.
This is a really great read, and I thoroughly enjoyed Griselda and all of her family and friends as she changes her traditions this Christmas.

    Hilarious story
This story seamlessly weaves into the Emma Rae storyline. It's funny and dramatic. Must Read
All Kinds of FEELS and Misty Eyed
Would you consider the audio edition of Always the Wedding Planner, Never the Bride to be better than the print version?
I did find the audio slightly better than the print only because I may not have read certain dialogue in the same manner as the narrator of this audio had and I would have lost a little something in it. Delivery is key in fleshing out a character.
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite characters would have to be Sher and her unapologetic love for chocolate and lack of interest in Zumba or Hiking. I so can relate.
Which character as performed by Ann Marie Gideon was your favorite?
Aunt Sophie. She did a wonderful job in portraying the elderly eccentric aunt.
If you could rename Always the Wedding Planner, Never the Bride, what would you call it?
    I wouldn't. Don't fix what isn't broken.
    Any additional comments?
This book gave me all kinds of FEELS. Towards the end of the book I was all misty eyed. The narrator did a wonderful job of pulling me into the story and having me believe all those characters were different people speaking; Not over the top, subtle, and fitting for each.
    Love
Love everything from this author. She is amazing. Beautifully written and beautifully performed. Can't wait for the next one.
    Awesome Story
This story is seems like it would be a corny romance novel. But it was really surprising the number of twists and turns it took. I really enjoyed the story. It was so different because it didn't cram Jesus down your throat instead it showed how Jesus could benefit your life.

This is a sweet and different
I want to get this book to read but I was reading another book by Shelley Shepard Gray at the time. I was either going to wait for it to become free for my Nook or get it though the library. Well I was surfing my facebook or looking at posts that were coming to my surprise Shelley Shepard post Status update saying that her book "A Texan's Promise" was being able to download it free for that day or that week for the Nook at Barnes & Noble website. So I downloaded it to my Nook and started reading it. Now on to my lovely thought of the book.
I really like how the beginning starts in this book. We get learn about Clayton and Vanessa past though the book. We start to see how Vanessa Grant life become rattled and how things change rapidly. Clayton seems to care for her and her pain. He see her in pain and wants to get her safe. We get to introduced to Miles Grant and Vanessa stepfather a little bit. We hear about Clayton's side of the family while he and Vanessa are traveling on the trail from Texas to Colorado. Along the way, you meet a few of Clayton's friends. Their a new set problem that exist with old one between Clayton and Vanessa. You also hear about Miles and his struggles along with Miles and Vanessa stepfather problem is. To find out what they are and struggles each person as is suggest that you go and read it.
    Not bad at all
As a Christian who hates 90% of Christian books, I found this quite refreshing. Unlike so many other books, it isn't syrupy-sweet, unrealistic, or preachy. This book acknowledges that life is tough, the world is fallen, and bad things happen to good people, but it has that underlying Hope that should be the goal of every Christian author to convey. I'm usually an action/adventure reader, so I appreciated the G-rated romance, but I *SPOILER* was rather put out that the gunfight that had been hinted at so strongly didn't happen. We've got undercover U.S. Marshalls, outlaws, gunslingers, and damsels in distress, but no good, old fashioned shoot-out? I had sincerely hoped that Scout and Will would be forced to fight, maybe one would be wounded, but a sudden understanding and change-of-heart would cause them to tip their hats and back away in the end... Frankly, that seems far more in character for Scout than to just blow off the mission altogether. So yes, good, well-written Christian fiction with a fizzle of an ending.
    Love this author!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book but that came as no surprise as I love her books ... she has been a favorite of mine since I first read one of her Amish books under Shelley Shepard Gray and fell in love with Amish reading ... from there on I have been hooked on her books.

    Members Reviews:
    A bit disappointed
I agree with some of the other reviewers that the main character accepted her alcoholism too easily. My knowledge and experience with this horrible disease is that the alcoholic goes through a period of denial for a long time before accepting the fact. They'll even try proving to themselves and others that it's just not so. I would have appreciated more details about Leah's treatment in rehab. Not much said about that. Near the end of the book, Leah's friend Molly reveals her diagnosis of breast cancer and the need for radiation therapy. She talks about having to go through hair loss from radiation. What? Hair loss is a side effect of chemotherapy, not radiation. I also thought the book ended too abruptly with too many unanswered questions.
    Unique voice
This author has a good all around grasp of how to make her readers feel something for her characters. I did find that there were parts of this book that seemed to sail a bit too smoothly considering the subject matter at hand. However, everyone reacts to their personal demons differently, so I reserve judgment having never lived through the situation the main character in this book does. I found it was pretty easy for me to get into this book and immediately I liked the main character and wanted to see her succeed. The way she thinks of herself and the way her internal dialogue is expressed clearly sets the scene for the rest of the book, without making everything too obvious.
I really enjoyed the way the author didn't over-describe everything and allowed the reader to have a little space to use their imagination while reading this work. I thought the ending was appropriate and also appreciated that this author did not choose the cliched everything is beautiful and perfect storyline that has been over utilized a million times. I would recommend this book.
    Had potential
At the beginning I didn't like the main characters. They weren't nice people. Then the story developed and they were growing in a good way. It would have been a wonderful story if things were resolved at the end. The last chapter wasn't written. I don't like to read a book with no resolution. There were too many unanswered questions. There was no point in reading the book.
STORYLINE IN BADLY NEED OF REHAB ITSELF!
Since there have been so many well expressed pros and cons on WALKING ON SHATTERED GLASS, I don't want to beat a dead horse, so to speak. So I'll aim to be succinct and to the point.
As a writer, Christa Allan knows how to express herself, and I thoroughly enjoyed the way she turns a phrase. For a debut novel, I gave her an extra extra star for effort and completing a novel.
That being said, her storyline, itself, is badly in need of intervention and needs to go into writer's rehab.

Meandering down the road of life---may contain spoilers
I found this on my Kindle with no idea when I'd purchased it, but decided I'd give it a read. The opening chapter had a good hook and I was led in by the promise of lots of tension and gut-twisting to come.
Unfortunately, it didn't fulfill the promise.
The premise is this: after a six-year absence, Maura has returned to the little town where she and her husband had gone for his first church posting. Apparently one of the church bigwigs, an old lady everyone called "Miss Hattie," has died and left Maura the town's theater. But in order to inherit, she must move back into the parsonage and live with her estranged husband Nick for at least six months, at the end of which she has to put the theater to use for at least one performance. If these conditions are fulfilled she'll own the theater and her husband's church will get a big donation. The conflict, of course, is that having left her husband, Maura has no intention of ever even seeing him again, much less cohabiting with him. And her husband, who is still hurt and confused by her unexplained departure six years earlier, isn't sure he wants her around, either.
The pastor is a true example of forgiveness here, almost from the beginning covering his hurt and being helpful and kind to Maura, although he occasionally lets slip a snotty or snarky remark showing that he's still miffed. Maura is more openly aggressive, and there's a lot of awkwardness and "I don't wanna do this" from both partners. But it's amazing how just a couple of weeks later they're getting on as well as coffee and cream.
Maura's story is given mostly in exposition (telling, not showing) what had happened that had caused her to leave after living there only a few months. She had also had a real crisis of faith (which was part of why she left). Unfortunately, it's pretty clear early on just what that was, although the author does not finally come out with it until about 3/4ths through the book, but by then it's old hat and being supplanted by more recent events anyway. We are also left to wonder just why it was so obvious to Miss Hattie that Maura should be left this theater, or why Maura should want it. At various points throughout the story we are told (not shown, with one exception) that Maura had some involvement with the theater, but we never know what it is.

"It's Like hearing a Hallmark Hall of Fame story"
I read and reviewed this book on Amazon when it first came out in paperback. Then I read it again on my Kindle some years later. And now I have just listened to it as an Audible book.
Listening to the book creates a very different experience. While listening you can close your eyes and just let the story wash over you. There is no reading effort. The job of interpreting the emotional context of each scene is in the hands of the narrator. There is still the 'theater of the mind' creative experience but it is far different than it is when reading. I enjoyed this book most as an Audible book listening experience. But then I had read the book twice before.
I give the narrator very high marks for this Audible version because of her use of multiple voices. With an Audible book it is very important for the voices of the major characters to be different and to sound like the sex they are. Male voices have to sound like males and females, females. The narrator also needs to get the emotions correct. As such the narrator must perform the book, not just read the words. This book is excellently performed and I give the narrator my highest marks.
That said, I'm going to post some of my print review as it is quite detailed and the book is worthy of serious commentary.
Simply telling what "One Imperfect Christmas" is about does not do the novel justice. It would be like saying that "Tom Sawyer" is simply a story about 19th Century boys growing up in the Midwest. "One Imperfect Christmas" is a serious book and warrants a serious review.
In good novels the characters change in significant ways as the story unfolds. In serious works, like "One Imperfect Christmas", not only do the fictional characters change but the reader changes as well. This potential for growth in the reader's consciousness is what gives great literature its universality and its timelessness.
Serious literature has the potential to impart experiences, knowledge, and sometimes even wisdom. More importantly, literature can enlighten the reader in a way which might not be possible in any other fashion.
    Here's what I mean:
Have you ever lamented: `If I only knew then what I know now'?
I think this lament is common to all mankind.

    Compelling Tale!
Would you listen to They Almost Always Come Home again? Why?
I would definitely listen to They Almost Always Come Home again. Ruchti's intricate characterization made this an excellent audiobook!
What did you like best about this story?
Ruchti masterfully crafted this story blending the ordinary with the unexpected. As the lives of the main characters are revealed, the listener is compelled to continue. If I could call an audiobook a "page-turner," this would be it.
What does Lisa Cordileone bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Pleasant narration with appropriate interpretation of Ruchti's characters. Well-done!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
