It had a good storyline. Characters were interesting. However, I unfortunately didn't care too much for the narrator.

    Feel Good Story
I got this book via audiobook boom. This is a story of how God can use circumstances and our own assumptions to bring about true healing and stronger love. Mattie runs away after assuming that her husband is cheating and she goes back home to her father's house. She parted ways with him ten years before because she did not want to follow his edicts. Her best friend Elizabeth and her husband Carson who is best friends to Richard spearhead the issue of not allowing the marriage to dissolve. God uses this to bring not only Mattie in line but her father as well. All three families are united in the end.
    What happens when we assume.
What did you like best about Christmas in Paradise? What did you like least?
I liked the spiritual aspect of the story. I hated the arguing & shutting the other person out in a marriage.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Nothing. The author did a good job of creating drama.
What aspect of Kay L. Deess performance would you have changed?
    She was OK
Did Christmas in Paradise inspire you to do anything?
    Never assume.

This is the conclusion of the series. Will relationships be mended, or will lives move in different directions?
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed.Kay L. Dees reading was way too slow for my taste. I put it on my Kindle and doubled the speed to make it more listenable for me.

    The Right Answer
J.E.B. Spredermann's book Joanna's Struggle is really a great book, it tells you how much God is really the foundation of a families life. Joanna knew that with the trouble she was in even if it wasn't her doings the first person that she went to was to ask God to help her, kids now days wouldn't do that not if a adult would b but this young girl knew who to ask.
It came first from a person that was right there able to help her out, but we know it was God that made it happen. She then thanked God for sending some one to help her. Even at the end after talking more with the person that saved her, she was then able to do something mostly we would have never done and that was to forgive the one that had tried to steal her away and in her showing him that she forgave him, he found God also an hopefully he never was mean again.
I hope that many will read this story and then also send a message to the author about what they got out of the story and that they would also write a review and also let their friends know how good this story is.
    Disturbing beginning
Painted a terrible picture in the beginning that wouldn't let me sleep. There should be a content warning in the description for those of us sensitive to certain topics. I'm very upset about this. Most of the world may be desensitized to horrible things happening to children but I'm not and I feel blind sighted by this book. I also read the reviews stating this is a good book for all ages. I really hope that's not true. I would never let my daughter read this. So sad to think the image painted in chapter two is okay for children.
Simple, Sweet - but actually for any age
This may have been written for young teens but being 62 - I enjoyed it. Yes it is simply written but it had a lot of God's grace even after being abducted and by His grace being rescued before anything harmful happened. There is also a buggy & auto accident and a Mennonite woman sharing scriptures on John 3:16 and teaching that we need to forgive others - just as God has forgiven us.
I read this in one sitting - short but not too short. A very good story and a blessing. Just wish I had had stories like this while growing up.
    Christian YA fiction
I enjoyed this book mainly because of the writing. The book was very simple aimed at "Christian YA fiction". Cute story but too one dimensional. Also a note to J.E.B. S. incarcerated people are not allowed to open their own mail. It is always inspected in the mail room.
    Joanna's Struggle
I read the book and even though it was for young readers I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. I'm a great fan of Amish fiction and this author captures the essence of Amish life intertwining the Christian faith and beliefs in the daily struggles of Amish life.

    Publisher's Summary:
A wave of suicidal behavior has gripped the nation with no concern for race, gender, or age. Many think it's just a trend, but inspirational singer Candace Tremont knows better. Since witnessing the suicide of her husband five years prior, she's committed her life to fighting the spirit of depression. Unfortunately, suicidal thoughts and dreams also plague her mind, making the war more personal than anyone around her realizes.
Unfulfilled with periodic and low-paying gigs, Candace yearns for an opportunity to touch more lives. Her prayers are answered - or so it seems - when she is offered a temporary job at Ontario Correctional Facility, performing for suicidal female inmates. A surge of self-harming behaviors has put the facility at risk for shutdown, and Candace's music might be the staff's final hope of keeping their jobs. In addition to a substantial fee, Candace is given the assistance of the handsome Julius Barnes, one of the prison's psychologists, who believes her music can help reduce the lethal behaviors of the incarcerated population. However, Apollius, a fallen angel committed to destruction, has other ideas for the inmates, and won't give up his control over these women so easily. A supernatural battle of epic proportions has ignited in Upstate New York, and the consequences could be fatal. Are Candace's songs of faith powerful enough to save the lives of the inmates and keep the facility from closing down indefinitely? Or will her interference with Apollius's plan make her the next target?

    Important story
This is not a your run of the mill novel. It's an important story to educate, advocate, and comfort not only those who are affected by pornography addiction, but everyone. I didn't love the narrators.
    Tough Subject
Porno addiction is a tough subject to tackle, and Stacy Lynn Carroll does it here with sensitivity and tact while remaining honest. The book traces the problems it's caused in one marriage as they struggle to overcome it and keep their family together. I can't say much without giving the story away other than to say anyone who's ever been in a relationship where any kind of addiction has come in to play will understand this deeply, and anyone who hasn't struggled with, or loves someone who's struggled with, addiction will have a new love and understanding for the former.
The low stars on the performance are because the main narrator sometimes sounds too chipper or happy for such a heavy subject, and her voices for the children grate on the nerves and make what would read as charming characters annoying. A man reads the male parts, which would be refreshing if he didn't sound robotic and very clearly reading from a script. His voice had no personality at all which made it a little harder to get on board with the husband.
Other than my nitpicks over the voices, I highly recommend this book.
    Powerful Story!

    MY TAKE
This is such a powerful story. I found myself pulled right in with Sarah, right along with her feelings of betrayal and despair. I felt for her struggles doing the single parent thing but especially her fight to understand and forgive. It's not an easy place to be. Trust, once shattered, can be a hard thing to replace. The story becomes a religious one as Sarah finds God, but even if a reader isn't interested in the religious aspect, the uplifting story--in spite of the nature of the story--still has so much to recommend it.
I have a bipolar child who spent over a year in an adolescent treatment center. Many of the kids there struggled with all kinds of addiction, including pornography.

    Publisher: Lost Diary Press
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 3 votes
    Genres: Fiction, Religious & Inspirational
    Publisher's Summary:
It was not Violet Gladstone's idea to become a mail order bride. She felt it was foolhardy for a woman to leave everything behind to marry a man she had never met. However, when her greedy boyfriend, Ned, jilted her for a rich woman, her friend convinced her to answer an ad. Soon, she was exchanging letters with a nice widower who wanted to wed her. For months, they wrote to each other. All his letters were charming, except the last one. It contained an ultimatum: marry him now or never. He could wait no longer. She wrote back that she would come right away, but she did not. Instead, when the time came, she turned in her ticket to Texas and posted an apologetic letter to the widower breaking off their engagement.
When Ned heard Violet stayed, he accused her of holding a torch for him and offered to make her his mistress. Violet scoffed at his lewd offer and his vile conceit. In a flash, he was in her face, pointing out that a strong-willed 27-year-old servant was too old, too poor, and too disagreeable to find a husband in man-starved postwar Georgia. He predicted she would live out her life, a spinster dwelling in the servants' quarters while she pined away for what might have been. That was all it took for her to pen another letter asking the widower to forgive her fickleness, and informing him she was on her way.
There was no way Ned was going to ruin her dreams. She left on the very next stagecoach bound for Texas. Her fury kept her doubts and fears at bay for some time, but when the road got rough as they traveled farther and farther into the frontier, she regretted leaving Atlanta. When she really thought about it, being a spinster seemed like a pleasant carefree lifestyle and the servants' quarters a safe haven. Her rationalization was for naught; it was too late to turn back. Certain she had left the frying pan for the fire, she stared out the window of the stagecoach as it rattled down the bumpy dirt road heading to her uncertain future.

    When Life Has Other Plans
I agree with other reviewers this was sweet story and pretty straight forward. Violet went West as a mail order bride after her fiance Ned dumped her for a rich widow but still wanted her as his mistress. So Violet answers an ad for a mail order bride then changes her mind twice. Anyhow Josiah Kent the groom is devastated when she doesn't come so marries the rich widow who has been helping him & his 2 boys since his wife died 1 yr ago. There is no detail as what that relationship was so I couldn't really get into that; Josiah was a balding, red-haired postmaster in Waring Texas dominated by his 6 ft tall mother and a bossy brother & sister-in-law. While Annette was an extremely rich, beautiful widow of a judge. It would've made more since if she would've been a widow of the local mercantile storekeeper that l loved him so not sure I got that whole scenario. Of course the proof reading was a little disconcerting i.e balling for bawling; spurning his horse for spuring just mention a few. I would read Carrie's story but refuse to pay .99 for 62 page booklet but if you read Violet's story you pretty much have the rest of Carrie's story. This is a fast read, no sex but realistic sweet romance between Violet and Clint with Aunt Ginnie as chaperone.

    Epic Conclusion
The final book in the series (for now) closes off all the loose ends that normally bleed over from one of the series books to another. The author moves Jack Carter from the safety of the St. Louis area to England to crossover centuries old runner Bartholomew Westley. Westley was in St Louis in the previous book trying to get revenge on Jack for crossing over his friends Harbinger and Serpent, but through a fluke in the rules of combat was returned to his part of the world where he demanded Jack to meet him in another battle or he would begin to kill weaker chasers in the old country. Jack must prepare differently as Westley is stronger on his own soil and an epic battle will begin. Great book. Great series.
    A very interesting book
I chose this rating because it stressed at all things are possible if you believe and trust in God. I wish we had chasers against evil like in this book
    A REAL KEEPER!!!
All the "Chaser" books were very good, but this last one was far better than good. It was written with a nice sense of humor, was fast pace, exciting, thought provoking, and with a beautiful ending. The kind of book you can't put down & hate to see end.
    his books are all great.
Dalglish is one of my favorites, his books are all great.
    Interesting read
Not coming from a Christian background I found this book quite different from what I usually read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it.

I prefer novels to poetry, but this book of poems had some poignant prose that made me stop and think about the meaning. Like the Psalms, there is a story within the lines. This book was divided into four parts, like "themes." I particularly enjoyed parts 2-4. My favorite poems were Offering, Matins, and Adjusting the Darkness. If you enjoy poetry that includes family, faith, and memories, you'll enjoy this collection of poems by Penny J. Johnson.
