Witness - Book One of the Seeds of Christianity Series
An old tale told in a new way! Biblically and historically accurate.
Things are good for young Rivkah. Her father's just givenher a lamb to start her own flock, and Shemu'el wants to marry her. The young shepherdess accompanies her father to Bethlehem where, with Mary's help, sheholds her newborn son. But Mary, Joseph and Jesus are soon gone and Herod's soldiers begin killing the children of her village.
Then her intended, Shemu'el, is dragged away into slavery. Divided by fate, united by love, these two young people grow to separate adulthoods, each with their dreams and desires unfulfilled, while the world of Rome and conquest moves inexorably on.
Rivkah eventually marries and raises a family. Life is gooduntil the day she's in Jerusalem for the Passover when three men pass on theirway to crucifixion. As she encounters Jesus a final time, Rivkah makes a life-changing decision and follows to Golgotha. And, when they take him from the cross, this time it's Rivkah who helps Mary hold her son.

Where does Witness rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
    near the bottom
What other book might you compare Witness to and why?
    None comes to mind.
What didnt you like about Ruth Elsbrees performance?
I could not finish listening to it. I really tried but her style is not for me. Got on my nerves.
If you could take any character from Witness out to dinner, who would it be and why?
    The main character
    Any additional comments?
The book itself is pretty good. The narrator made the book impossible for me to finish.
    History made personal
If you could sum up Witness in three words, what would they be?
    Moving, fascinating history
What other book might you compare Witness to and why?
    Sheen's The Seven Last Words
What about Ruth Elsbrees performance did you like?
Each character was uniquely presented. Her verbal expression was outstanding and the singing of the prayers was wonderful.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Christ's passion through a shepherdess' eyes
    Any additional comments?
One of the best audio books I've listened to.
    Very entertaining
If you could sum up Witness in three words, what would they be?
    suspenseful
    informative
    engaging
What was one of the most memorable moments of Witness?
. The message that stood out for me is that staying obedient to Gods laws as Rivkah and Shemuel did, not only guards us against guilt and regret, but brings true happiness because that is what He wants for us. Thus, the most memorable moment was their reunion.
Which character as performed by Ruth Elsbree was your favorite?
    Rivkah's father
If you could take any character from Witness out to dinner, who would it be and why?
The centurion - because I would like to talk more with him about his realization that "Christ was truly the son of God."

    Profiled by Renee Andrews
This book has many twist and turns in it, I thought I had it narrowed down to who done it but I was wrong, I recommend this book. I think I would have enjoyed better knowing the struggle Lexie had before getting into the plot, but all in all its a very good read.
    A great twisting, turning mystery
Would you consider the audio edition of Profiled to be better than the print version?
I can't really answer if the audio edition is better than the print version as I haven't read the book in paper form. However, I greatly enjoy crime/murder/thriller stories in both formats so I suspect I would have enjoyed it either way. However, this book got kept me company during a decorating project :) - I found I could concentrate on the work I was doing at home and still follow the plot of the story so it was exactly the right pace of story and level of detail for me at that time.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved the strength of the two women, but I found the Christian aspects of their personality a little hard to deal with
What does Robert Armin bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you had only read the book?
I probably would have read the book with a female voice in my head so it was interesting to hear it with a male narration
I found the strong accent of the narration a little jarring at first, but within the first chapter I had settled into the rhythm of the voice and it helped lend atmosphere and character to the setting of the story.
    Any additional comments?
I'm a big fan of the TV series "criminal minds" and I was really pleased to discover this FBI profiling story - even better, it's the start of a series!
I love Karin Slaughter's books as well, so finding this set in a fictionally-familiar area was nice as well.
I personally didn't enjoy the religious aspects of the story, but these are small and did not dominate the plot - as I say though, that's just personal taste.
I was impressed with the twists and turns as it managed to keep me wondering rather than working it all out early on.

    Such a heart warming story!
I enjoyed every page from beginning to end. So inspirational. I would recommend reading this story if you like the stories of the pioneer days and people trusting in God to see them through.
    Five Stars
    Really liked this one
    Not my cup of tea!
This book falls far short of expectation of an exciting journey on the Oregon trail. So many of the circumstances are implausibel, and inconsistent as to time of the year, weather conditions, and geography. I enjoyed bits and pieces, but over all I did not find the book really stimulating.

    Members Reviews:
    compelling
thought provoking. Loved it. Will definitely listen again. Saw the bigger picture of Christmas.
    Absolutely refreshing!
Where does The Advent Calendar rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I would rank this book as the most inspiring book I have listened to. Many others have been thought provoking or funny or challenging but this one combined all of these elements effortlessly into one story that was so easy to listen to.
What did you like best about this story?
As a Christian I listened to this 'knowing' the story and most of the codes, however the author presented them in such a fresh way as to enable me to look again at the meaning of advent through new eyes. What I really appreciated was that the story did not confine itself to the birth of Christ but looked at the effect His birth has had and is continuing to have upon our world.
What about Matt Lloyd Daviess performance did you like?
The narration was excellent and brought the story to life, it was gentle and sympathetic to the story.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I found myself moved throughout the story and the long pauses between chapters was welcome as I had time to pause the story before rushing into the next chapter.
    Any additional comments?
This is a must listen to, in my opinion and one I shall be returning to every year. I shall be purchasing several copies of the book to give away as I feel the profound truths were shared in such an easygoing and gentle way that others would enjoy the story without feeling they were being preached at and may come to ask questions that it raised for them.

    Masterful Interpretation
Set in the world of the Last Witness, War in Heaven is an interpretation, based on Biblical study, of events before and during the creation of the universe that led to Satan's Fall. The story breathes life into the angels, Helel, Argus, and Uriel, and made me think of the reasons behind Satan's fall in a new way. The narration adds to the enjoyment. The voices of God and the angels are very distinct and individual. The music is beautiful and frames and enhances the story perfectly. Highly recommended.
    Insight if you believe

Queste 54 storie sono state tradotte dalla collezione che John Suler ha fatto di storie zen o taoiste già pubblicate o che gli sono state raccontate o inviate sul suo sito "Zen Stories to tell your neighbors". Ava has a loving family, a beautiful house, and a solid faith. Suddenly, her ideal life will be completely broken... in the best of ways.
Avas life is full of great things. Her daughter is getting married to just the right guy, her husbands company has kept them financially thriving for years, her son is a freshman in high school, playing football and doing well, and the ministry she started is keeping her busy as she reaches out to those with "broken hearts".
Then it all falls apart. Avas safe world becomes unanchored, and she is forced to face the childhood shes run away from her entire life. Just as shes trying to sift through the pieces, the doorbell rings and Ava is confronted with the surprise of her life.
Ava must set out on a journey that takes her back home - something Ava hasnt done in 20 years. As she travels across the state of Texas, strangers offer her kindness and remind her of the meaning of hope and forgiveness.
It is in this journey back that Ava discovers God in a new way. She sees she's been hiding her brokenness behind good deeds and a safe life. Learning what it means to lose it all is just the start of Avas journey - as is the new song God is writing on her heart.
    Members Reviews:
    Enjoyable!
In reading about the characters life experiences as they walk with God, the reader can learn
while enjoying a great novel. I think it would be great to have a sequel to this story!
    A more than satisfied reader
Ava's life is full of material blessings, an enviable family. She is a Bible study leader and has organized the women of her church to reach out to the broken-hearted. Ava's world falls apart around her and she realizes she has never told her
children about her early life that is full of many broken-hearted situatins. Ava decides to go back to her chidhood home to heal both the past and the present. She will be returning home with her younger cousin'x baby left on her doorstep. Ava is also troubled that her weeping willow tree is dying, a gift from her brother from their childhood home. The authors' narration of Ava'a trip home is as if they are
telling it just to you. It's reminescent of the readers' own childhood years as told, good or bad, by older relatives. My attention was completely absorbed in
Ava's journey. Ava's own broken heart has a new song at journey's end. And, the
    tree has new life.
    Couldn't Put This Book Down
This book was powerful and once you read the first page, you'll be hooked. It shows us the things that are important in our lives and how quickly all of these material things in this life can vanish in a breath. The only thing everlasting is God's love and in this book he takes the main charactor and her family through all the trials of financial gain and loss, mistrust, misplaced faith, lies and her chains of painful childhood memories that mold her life and relationships. With growing trust in God, he reveals to her the things of this life and the people that are most important as he shows her how to let go of her pain, her past and to love, live and trust in him and the life he created for her. Awesome!!!
    Necessary
This story was a necessity for me to read at this time in my life.
