Members Reviews:

So much potential!

The biggest problem is the narrator of Hebrews. His voice becomes tiring very quickly. Lesser of an issue is the version, ESV, for example, is far superior IMO.

On the contrary, James is wonderful. Excellent narrator and i have less complaints on the translation.

Audio Bible

Excellent I am working in the kitchen all morning and Listened to this Wonder Audio Section of the Bible ...Excellent

WOW

I love the narrator's voice. The words of the NCV are easy to follow. The simple words of the NCV put much more power behind the message. The background music makes the message even more powerful. I recommend this to anyone who wants to study the NCV or have a better understanding of the Bible in general. I have just listened to the first couple of chapters of the book of John. WOW!, what power and beauty. These cds are worth it for the price. Buy it, You won't regret it!

NCV audio review

While this CD set is in a very nice carrying case with a magnetic clasp, and the sound is clear, unfortunately the background music (with an ocassion drum beat etc) is distracting, and, and for me personally, the person narrating it has a 'southern preacher' sound that I don't care for. If you prefer a southern preacher reading this and background music then you will really enjoy this. I'm used to Alexander Scourby with no music/dramatization, so this was a let down for me.

Publisher's Summary:

Hear some of the most important books of

The New Testament read from the most poetic and eloquent English language Bible translation - the King James Version. This unabridged reading begins with the

Acts of the Apostles, a contemporary account of Christianity's early expansion and the works of St. Peter and St. Paul. It also includes the

Epistles, which contains the 14 Pauline and 7 Catholic Letters - documents that form the foundation of Christian thought and practice.

Revelation, the 27th and final book of

The New Testament, is a majestic, mysterious, apocalyptic prophesy of God's triumph over evil, and Christianity's victory over persecution.

Editorial Reviews:

It's hard to imagine an arena of Western culture on which the books in this volume have not left their mark. Audiobook narrator James Hamilton brings clarity and gravitas to his reading of this volume of the New Testament, which includes Acts - the history of the first witnesses to the Christian gospel in Rome - the Epistles, letters from Church leaders to some of the earliest Christian churches - and Revelations, a feverish apocalyptic vision and an essential window into the mindset of the early church. The translation - the King James Version - is one of the major poetic achievements in the history of the English language. Essential listening.

This series explores the Bible through the fascinating lens of feminism. How can feminist methods help you better understand Scripture? What do these methods entail, and why are they important to both men and women?

You will answer these questions with a variety of examples from both the Old and New Testaments. Along the way, award-winning professor Sr. Barbara Reid will teach you different ways to approach the Scriptures from a feminist perspective. In doing so, you will uncover new outlooks that enable a richer understanding of Scripture and spiritual flourishing.

In these thought-provoking lectures, you will look at feminism as a perspective that allows human flourishing. You will also see Mary, the Mother of Jesus, as a woman called to a prophetic vocation.

Then you will encounter two fascinating figures: the Canaanite woman and the so-called "sinful" woman who anoints Jesus. Next you will look at ministering women and female apostles, including Phoebe, Mary Magdalene, Junia, and others. Finally you will consider the implications of the stories of Mary and Martha as well as Jesus' Passion, Death, and Resurrection.
