As we like to say in the South, "Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story".
Ella's life has been completely upended. She's young, beautiful, and deeply in love - until her husband dies in a tragic sailing accident while trying save her. Or so she'll have everyone believe. Screenwriter Hunter needs a hit, but crippling writers' block and a serious lack of motivation are getting him nowhere. He's on the look-out for a love story. It doesn't matter who it belongs to.
When Hunter and Ella meet in Watersend, South Carolina it feels like the perfect match, something close to fate. In Ella, Hunter finds the perfect love story, full of longing and sacrifice. It's the stuff of epic films. In Hunter, Ella finds possibility. It's an opportunity to live out a fantasy - the life she wishes she had because hers is too painful. And more real. Besides, what's a little white lie between strangers? But one lie leads to another, and soon Hunter and Ella find themselves caught in a web of deceit.
As they try to untangle their lies and reclaim their own lives, they feel something stronger is keeping them together. And so they wonder: can two people come together for all the wrong reasons and still make it right?

    Wonderful
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
this is the best book I've listened to in a long time. I love happy endings
Finding your truth in the lies you tell...
When Hunter meets Ella, he's looking for a love story. One that could be his next big break and get him out of his slump. So he lies about who he is and what he's doing in her charming little southern coast city to put her at ease. What he doesn't realize is that the tragic love story he comes to call in love with is not Ella's story. He doesn't realize she's not being honest about herself either. Through all the falsehood, can these two unearth their own hidden truths?
I enjoyed how the author weaved the story, telling parts from both Ella and Hunter's perspective. I love how the story was set in a small town, on the water in the South. My favorite character was Mimi - her sayings, her viewpoint on life and love, and how she challenged Ella. The path Hunter and Ella take is a true journey that brought out some great thought-provoking points...
    - How do you get over an ex? (steps listed)
    - Do we really fall in love with someONE or do we really fall in the love with the idea of being in love?
    - Do we ever just love someone in order to fill a void or a hole that's missing?
    - Can we ever suffocate love?
    Favorite Quote:
"What about love?" he asked. "Don't you want to grab on to that when it comes again?"
"No. If it ever comes again, which I can't imagine, I want it to walk next to me, hold me. I don't want to grab it like a life preserver, like it's the one thing that will keep the ground from giving way. Love can't stop bad things from happening."
The narrator, Andi Arndt, did a great job at voicing the different characters in this story.

    Ridiculous
This is an incredibly unrealistic story. I had to stop reading this book because I couldn't believe how weak the lead character is. I don't want to give spoilers but the dialogue and plot only reiterates how poorly developed the story line is. The only emotion I felt was irritation at the characters and the plot twists, especially the scenes with Paul and Georgia.

    Wanted more
It was a good story. Made me a bit anxious at times. I really wanted more connection with Adams Grove. Wished Jill, Garret and Carol Ann had appeared so we knew what they were up to.
    WHAT AN EXCELLENT STORY! !!
Occasionally a tear jerker, but a truly wonderful story and for once I couldn't tell for certain who she'd end up with from the very beginning. Usually with a romance novel it's obvious from the start. I liked a bit of suspense!

    Publisher's Summary:
A new novella set in the best-selling, award-winning Beyond series.
Mia risked everything to walk away from a gilded cage in Sector Two, but grasping at freedom was only her first trial. With no protection in the sectors, every day is a struggle to stay alive. Her best hope now is a job working for the most dangerous gang in Sector Four - the O'Kanes.
When a motorcycle accident leaves Derek Ford riding a desk at the O'Kane compound, the last thing he needs is a sexy new assistant upending his office and his life. Especially someone like Mia, who greets his growls and commands with smiles and a fierce independence.
The friction between them generates an undeniable heat, and Mia's stubborn refusal to let life beat her down stirs Ford's darkest protective instincts. He has the power to take care of her, protect her not only from discomfort but from threats of her past...but first he'd have to claim her.
And Mia will never be kept again.
This novella was originally published in the Alphas After Dark collection in April 2014 and takes place during the events of Beyond Jealousy.
    Members Reviews:
There's no such thing as a 'bad' O'Kane book
This, unfortunately, is a novella in the Beyond series by the two fab ladies that are Kit Rocha. Itâs also just a small story of the big picture, where the focus is on the two main characters of this novella, not the others.
We return to Sector Four â thank God â where we immediately meet Derek Ford, whoâs originally from Sector Eight. Weâve read about his accident in Beyond Jealousy but we truly get to know him from the first chapter. Heâs in the Broken Circle, watching âthe blonde girlâsâ show â Rachel â and of course that his body reacts to the absolute hedonism thatâs taking place on stage.
âShows at the Broken Circle werenât just skin on display, bored dancers humping a pole and counting down the hours until closing. They were real, in-your-face revelries of lust.â
Our Ford is a little bit more mature than the other characters so far and well, heâs surly and moody and not real friendly. I noticed how he doesnât really care to learn the girlsâ names, even though heâs a part of the OâKane bunch, having the tattoos to prove it.
But hereâs where Mia comes into the picture and totally rocks his world.
The scene where they met for the very first time? *fanning self* Whoa!
âIf I start stroking my d**k right in front of you, youâre damn sure gonna be paying attention. Not just watching â riveted.â
âHeâd stood there unashamedly erect, his belt undone, that top button popped open like a challenge.â
So, heâs surly, moody, grumpy but certainly not shy. At. All. He just thinks he has a bone to pick with life, in general and likes keeping people away.
âOh, he was enchanting. Grumpy and rude and beautiful and so, so fun to look at.â
But Mia changes everything for him. Sheâs there to work for him. Sheâs there to stay. In Sector Four and working on becoming an OâKane.
Because then sheâs free. You see, Mia, just like Lex and Jade, was a whore. Well, she was raised and educated as one but she never got to actually become one. Letâs just say she had a nasty bastard as a patron who did nothing else but belittle her.
But sheâs strong for running away and starting from scratch.

MISUNDERSTANDINGS, SECRETS, A CONTRACT & LOVE
Randolph and Willow have very different backgrounds.... New Age Mysticism vs wealth and spreadsheets, and they have had an unconventional start in this contemporary romance with an arranged marriage. However, when the ink's dry on the marriage licence thing between them soon hot up but unfortunately insecurities, outside forces or fate kept stepping in to ruin their budding romance. And again, when they both finally come clean with their feelings towards each other, there was a bitter ex fiancée waiting in the wings to sabotage and ruin not just one marriage, but two.
This was an entertaining listen, told from dual POV's with lots of likeable secondary characters, angst, sex, humor, tender heartfelt words and bitter self loathing words, character growth, regretted actions and a twist here and there but, IMO, it would have been a far more enjoyable listen if it had a different narrator.
Worth a credit? Although I enjoyed this listen, I just didn't love it, it's probably a personal thing where some books grab you while others, for some unknown reason, just don't and I found myself caring that the H/H got their HEA ending but not really connecting fully with them. Nevertheless it's still worth a credit.
    Good.
I did enjoy this book, this is my first for the author and narrator and I liked the book but think the performance would have been more enjoyable with a different narrator.
Overall it is a very enjoyable listen I just kept finding myself saying, I wish they had gone with a different narrator, she just doesn't pull off the emotion to me, other might not have an issue.
    Amazing read!
    I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

    Members Reviews:
Decent romance with slightly annoying heroine
This is the third in the series and is a fairly decent addition. You dont need to have read the rest of the books to enjoy this one.
It made a nice change that the H and h were openly attracted to each other from the start and there is a really great flirtation scene during the wedding in the opening chapters. Things go wrong (of course) when the h finds herself very opposed to the development plans of the H, while the H desperately needs the development to be successful to get his new business started.
I have to admit to a little irritation at the persistence of the h in insisting that the H jumps through multiple hoops to allay her suspicion that he is about to build on a historic site. She pretty much decided it was a historical site on minimal evidence and then expected him to disprove this fact. There was also a bit too much about her intuition, and her obsession about the one true love she was keeping herself celibate for (while apparently thinking it ok to do pretty much everything else as long as she doesnt go all the way are we in high school here?). The H was so very patient with her various obsessions and I found myself sometimes thinking he deserved someone just a bit more rational. In some places the book started to feel a bit preachy about conservation, preservation etc etc. and I do get tired of writers letting these politically correct issues take over the plot. Throughout all this the h blew so hot and cold about whether or not she was going to actually have sex with the H that she came over as a bit of a tease.
This book had excellent narration (as opposed to book two in the series which I could not finish as the narration was so bad). It was a fairly decent romance, and I will happily read more by the same writer, but for the reasons above I wont be listening to this one again.

    Total waste
The idea seemed like a good one - different - but the bad writing, the whiplash changes of scenario, the stupid "bad guy," the annoying pet names for everything, and so much more destroy this book. It only gets one star because mercifully it ends after only 6 hours of torture.
Don't listen to it at work! hehehe to good ;)
I absolutely loved the book. The Narrator (Carly Robins) done a great job. The story kept me up and seriously wanting more. Hayson Manning is a great writer with a very real deep characters. The book sweep you along feeling the feelings of the characters and with some twists around the corner. I loved every second and will recommend it anytime.

The sequel to His Wicked Games.
After their passionate weekend at the Cunningham estate, Lily and Calder have decided to take their relationship to the next level. But love in the real world isn't all fun and games - especially when it becomes clear that Calder still harbors his share of secrets.
When Calder suddenly suggests they slow things down, Lily knows something is seriously wrong - and she's not afraid to pull out the big guns. She makes Calder a proposal he can't refuse: an ongoing match of Truth or Dare that she hopes will bring them closer together.
But as the contest increases in intensity, so do the stakes, and suddenly Lily and Calder have to face the question they've both been avoiding: what sort of relationship do they have when they strip away all the games?
    Members Reviews:
IT WAS SLOWLY FALLING APART.. UNTIL THE GAME BEGAN
This book was good but sadly (IMO) it just wasn't as good as book 1 as it was a constant struggle for Lily to keep the relationship working with the now broke and broken Calder. One minute he's keen and talking about what he wants to sexually do to Lily then, a phone call changes everything, and he starts to pull away both physically and mentally. But Lily wasn't about to let him brood alone and pull back from her - so, with a lot of thought, she tried hard to keep their connection going.
However, taking sex out of their relationship, left an awkward space where secrets festered, assumptions were made and Calder became a frustrated ticking time bomb. Their bond was stretched but neither one could walk away and a long game of Truth or Dare (that spanned weeks) finally drew them closer, revealed truths, revealed pent up emotional feelings and revealed a heartbreaking decision that had to be made. But sadly Fate had another blow to deliver that would shatter their fragile bond.
There was a lot of roller coaster feels to this listen as Lily tried desperately to keep their secret and tentative relationship from dying and there was angst, a bit of Paparazzi drama, sex and a lot of crossing your fingers hoping that they'd come through a fraught time with their hearts intact and able to move forward... together. Told entirely from Lily's POV and the narration was good.
Worth a credit? This was very enjoyable and there were humorous times along with all the romance, sex and stress, but I wish I'd spent the time revisiting them in book 1 again to refresh my memory of both the start and build up to their very hot intense relationship. Nevertheless I still found this was a creditworthy listen.
    My Truthful Review
Would you consider the audio edition of Truth or Dare to be better than the print version?
Absolutely not, but it is almost as good
What did you like best about this story?
I love the games that Calder and Lily play to try and figure out their new relationship. And how through their games they come to know, trust and love one another.
Have you listened to any of Natalie Dukes other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, one. His Wicked Games book 1. This one is very similar (as it should be). I feel that she did a much better job with Truth or Dare than she did on His Wicked Games.

Lost in Translation by S.L. Scott is a quick and sexy read about a college girl, Kandace, her trip to France and stay at a hostel, and they boy she meets that opens her eyes to a different way of seeing the world.
Kandace has planned this trip for what seems like her whole life. Every penny has gone into her week-long trip to France. When the hostel she is staying at overbooks and puts her in a room with a hot french guy instead of having her own room things do not go as she planned.
Told entirely from Kandace's POV, this was a quick read. Sexy, sweet and emotional. A pleasure to read. Enjoy!
    Perfect for the dreamy-minded individual
What a sweet little story! Lost in Translation by SL Scott was a delightful listen. I listened to it while cleaning over the last week and it made cleaning go by so quickly. I felt like Scott took me on this tour of Paris while Kandance and Olivier fell in love. Keep in mind this is a short little story with little drama or angst. I felt like it was just this fun, little refreshing night cap. Who doesnt dream of going to Paris? This is a delightful little trip for all your romantics out there!
This was my first audio by Maren McGuire. I felt like it was a nice narration. Nothing exceptional, but again, a nice little light listen for a couple hours. Lost in Translation is perfect for the dreamy-minded individual.
    Cute!
What did you love best about Lost in Translation?
I thought it was a really sweet story. A little shorter than I normally would have picked, I was glad I gave it a shot. I really liked the extended epilogue.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Lost in Translation?
The little twist at the end was a surprise I didn't see coming. I was wondering how it was going to end.
Which character as performed by Maren McGuire was your favorite?
I think she really did a good job on all of them. I thought her voice really matched the age of the characters and she did a really good job with the French!
    Any additional comments?
Thank you S. L. Scott for picking me to receive a copy of this audiobook.
