Titel: Im Reich der Pubertiere

Autor:: Jan Weiler

Erzähler: Jan Weiler

Format: Original Recording

Spieldauer: 1 hr and 42 mins

Sprache: Deutsch

Veröffentlichungsdatum: 01-25-16

Herausgeber: Der Hörverlag

Kategorien: Comedy, Stand-Up & Jokes

Hysterically laughing about teenagers

What else can you do when you have at least one piece of wild teenager in the house? Sometimes I am worried that something wrong happens with the brain between certain ages but hopefully everything is erased with one click. Except for those having care of them, who are supposed to be the victims of their confusing personality. As a survivor of the life with a teenager, I may agree with a friend of mine that in the old good times they were so right to send the kids away from families during this age, for acquiring an apprentiship, or getting an education, or whatever reason.

Jan Weiler wrote previously about teenagers - Pubertiere (Tiere means animals in German, so you do not need advanced linguistic skills for understanding the getting the meaning of the title - how he calls them, so this recent book is a follow up. Kind of update saying 'hey, I survived life with 2 - TWO! for Gd's sake - teenagers'. Altough reading this book will not change anything from the usual drama of the co-habitation with such a creature, at least it makes you laugh. Laugh therapy is good. The most efficient weapon against the tyrans. If not used with the German humour - to add a lot of sarcasm and self-admiration abot how smart you are when you make the joke - you may not get it in many cases, but as for now the book is available in German anyway - including audio version - so if you read it it means that you know more than the basic 'ich bin, du bist...' kind of training. (PS. The der, die, das thing you will never get it...never).

Why you have to read this book: because you will feel less lonely, more relaxed, ready for a new day with the teenager under the same roof, and more convinced than ever that the dictatorship should be fought against. Wherever you are on this planet, there are many other parents too trying to understand the secret language of their teenies and to order more Energy drinks instead of the old times lemonade because, this is how it works.

The optimistic me hopes that it is not always the same and at least my sweet little boy will be always respectful and cute and never, but never ever, a wild teenage-animal. At least now, I do have a lot of experience about what to expect. And believe me, be ready to expect the worse.

Another great performance

Great Scottish stand-up, with loads of real world stuff that the audience can assimilate with.

Straight copy of the DVD

I was a fan of the DVD and just needed something for a long drive.

If you like Kev.i.n's standup then obviously you'll be a fan.

Good quality, does go quiet occasionally when he gesturing to crowd but nothing you can't work out what's going on

love it!

Great stuff. brilliant stories about things we all recognise and have done. think I might organise a might out and get some Mexican food!

funny as ever

More brilliant stand-up from Kevin Bridges. A lot of it was a bit too close to the truth. Just as good as his others.

One of my top 3 comedians

Kevin bridges makes me laugh out loud. I can relate to everything he talks about. I love his casual delivery his self teasing and his warmth. I would love to see him live and hope he ventures to grimsby

Funny listen

It's an absolute must for anyone wanting a giggle, top listen. Made my train journey home from London enjoyable...

A laugh a minute.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Totally recommend this audio version of Micheal McIntyre's latest show. Laughed so much and although it was just the audio version, you can still imagine the actions and reactions of his stage performance. One funny guy!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Obviously Micheal is the only one in the show, but he is a comic genius in every sense.

Have you listened to any of Michael McIntyres other performances? How does this one compare?

No I haven't, but I can't wait to listen to another one now.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The laughs start here!

Nothing negative

I love this audio book and I dont see anything wrong. You should watch or listen to more Michael McIntyre as he is proper funny. 5 stars

Autor:: Andreas Hock

Erzähler: Lukas Piloty

Format: Abridged

Spieldauer: 5 hrs and 4 mins

Sprache: Deutsch

Veröffentlichungsdatum: 05-11-15

Herausgeber: Riva Verlag

Kategorien: Comedy, Stand-Up & Jokes

Todd Glass on top form

If you could sum up Talks About Stuff in three words, what would they be?

Genuinely Consistently Funny

What did you like best about this story?

Well, it's not a story, it's a live recording of Todd Glass doing a stand-up set. And it's great. Every chapter is strong. The audio quality is great and the crowd are clearly enjoying themselves. I couldn't say that there's a stand out chapter in particular, the whole recording is consistently great throughout.

Have you listened to any of Todd Glasss other performances? How does this one compare?

I listen to the Todd Glass show every week, so I'm probably biased with my review. But if you're into alternative comedy, you'll appreciate the delivery and content. Glass is a comedy genius and I hope more of his recordings make their way onto audible. I've held off from buying his book in the hope that it'll come in an audio book form soon.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Oh my God... It made me laugh like an idiot. Thankfully I had predicted to that, so I listened to it at home. I usually listen to my audibles on the way to work on the Underground and I'm glad I didn't do that with this one.

Any additional comments?
