Military Man Has Found His Sweet Tooth!
Loved this story of Xavier Eaton and Selena Yates. Ms. Alers has done it again.
It appeared Xavier was love struck at first sight when he stepped into Selena Yates' sweets shop. Xavier, a dedicated military man, did not know what hit him but whatever it was, it hit him hard. Also, Selena thought she had escaped from the spotlight and hoped to settle down away from prying eyes. However, when Xavier caught her eye she was trapped. Their relationship started as a charade but soon became reality when undeniable love caught both of them off guard.
I loved this story of the Eatons!

I WAS a huge fan of Rochelle Alers. Her books were so wonderfully written with fully developed characters and plots. Since she started writing for Kimani, her books have been shallow, unoriginal and boring. I continued to purchase her books because I loved the Hideaway series and kept hoping that her next book would be better than the previous Kimani reads. But I'm done hoping for better.
With this book, I read and continued to read in hopes that something interesting would happen, never did. I didn't really like Selena. She was hot and cold in a poorly written way. Her background was not fully developed. She was on the run from a crazy boyfriend. But didn't move home where she would would be most protected, no she moves to a mystery town. She uprooted her life because of this stalker and was terrified of commitment because of him but the book ties up this loose end with a tacked on paragraph at the end.
Just skip this one.

It end much to soon for me, Xavier and Selena's story intrigued me just that much! I look forward to the next book in the series.
The story is cute, but...
The story is cute, but it's a SWEET romantic novel. There is no "spice" to this book; the love scenes are very sweet! It's not what I like in a story, but it's what I've come to expect from this author. This, however, is not why I gave the novel three stars. Unlike most of Alers' books, this one didn't grab and hold my attention. I completely understood that the hero, Xavier, was a history buff, but I feel that Alers narrated the story with too much history. There was also many details about the heroine's, Selena's, everyday life as a pastry chef/bakery owner. I wanted more romantic details...how they fell in love so quickly, etc. Again, the story is cute, but i just wasn't sold on the depth of Xavier and Selena's rushed romance.

I love the Eaton series....romantic with a twist. If you like a little mystery, lust and true love you will enjoy every book in the Eaton series!
