Publisher's Summary:
How can we create a just, healthy, and humane world? What is the path to developing sustainable energy, food, transportation, production, construction, and other systems? What's the best strategy to end poverty and ensure that everyone has equal rights? How can we slow the rate of extinction and restore ecosystems? How can we learn to resolve conflicts without violence and treat other people and nonhuman animals with respect and compassion? The answer to all these questions lies with one underlying system - schooling. To create a more sustainable, equitable, and peaceful world, we must reimagine education and prepare a generation to be solutionaries - young people with the knowledge, tools, and motivation to create a better future. This book describes how we can (and must) transform education and teaching; create such a generation; and build such a future.

Solutionaries are Possible
This book explains the difference between teaching the old way (the way things are taught now), and a newer way so that students become "Solutionaries," prepared for the world around them. This can be done by incorporating science, math, reading, research, history, etc. in the within the framework of research. There are lots of examples for teaching "Solutionaries." It is an excellent book and if you want to read something quite doable to change our educational system, get this book.
Don't judge this book by its cover. No. Really.
Book arrived quickly and in very good condition. And, this must be said, the book looks cheesy as heck, but it's actually really good. It was a textbook for my class and I was very suspicious, but I've enjoyed reading it so far and I highly recommend it.
A model of K-12 education that our times, students, and educators call for.
REVIEW OF ZOE WEILâS BOOK âThe World Becomes What we Teachâ
This is a deeply thoughtful book exploring the crux of what education needs to be in the 21st century and offers a model that, as a long term educator, I can see how timely and relative it is.
Starting with the most logical and no nonsense title of Weilâs book The World Becomes What We Teach the reader is encouraged to critically assess if, as a society, what we have been teaching during the last fifty years has optimally served all of earthâs inhabitants, and the planet.
