Finding the Way Back to the Great Physician
The first few minutes of A Place Called Morning so affected me that I almost had to turn it off and stop listening . . . I thought, Can I really listen to a book like this? Can I bear it? Where can it go from here? Nowhere good, for sure . . . but I was wrong . . . so wrong . . . as a grandmother, the gut wrenching pain and sorrow I felt at the beginning of the story made me physically sick . . . and I thought, why on earth would anyone write a book like this? But I kept listening . . . and God cracked the shell of my own fear . . . Ann Tatlock is a brilliant, experienced writer . . . the story of Mae and her precious grandson, Sammy who suffered a fatal accident at Mae's house, is many layered, the depths of which touched me in unexpected ways. It is a multi-generational tale of love, faith, healing and forgiveness . . . and I'm sure glad I didn't miss it.
Easy to Listen to and yet thought provoking.
I listened to this book whilst on holiday and found it a good, easy to 'read' story. If you want something that keeps moving, doesn't lose you with heavy detail and yet deals with realistic emotions of people like you and me, then I think you'll enjoy listening to this book.

    Not Interesting or Engaging..
Couldn't finish this...the characters weren't interesting or engaging, a lot of self centered introspection going on. There wasn't much of a plot or anything to grab. I found it dry and very predictable.
Inspiring and superb read! Life changing!
Where does A Slender Thread rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
It's rated tops on my list! While it took me a couple of chapters to learn all the characters it was well worth the read!!! If there were ten******** I would give this book ten stars! I definitely will read/listen again.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mattie is my favorite character being a grandmother and taking in her daughter's five small children raising them in a very good home with great values yet what happens to these five girls and how do they turn out!?! A must read!
    Which scene was your favorite?
The piece quilt and it's meaning and what will happen to this special Mitchell quilt! There were many other scenes as well. There isn't a dull moment with this book!
If you could take any character from A Slender Thread out to dinner, who would it be and why?
All of them! Everyone had their own problems and value; taking them one at a time would be fruitful!
    Any additional comments?
This is a must read book! There is sadness, joy, complications in relationships but what Mattie achieves through her beliefs along with Harry makes for a stronger belief. I found the entire story with hope and inspiration leaving me changed. Absolutely amazing story!!!!The scenery on the farm is appealing to ones heart. The title "A Slender Thread" is so much more than a title!! I enjoyed this magnificent audio!!!
A wonderful story of the power of forgiveness.
Where does A Slender Thread rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
    Near the top
Who was your favorite character and why?
Maddie was a strong yet very much human character.
What about Ruth Ann Phimisters performance did you like?
Her performance was okay but her voice was just not that appealing to me. Sorry Ruth Ann.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
    No
    Any additional comments?
A nice easy listen with a great message for everyone.
    A Slender Thread
I would thoroughly recommend this book - I usually reserve my audiobooks for when I'm on the treadmill but I couldn't wait to see how the sisters would all come together so sat up one night to finish listening. Tracie weaves a rather true to life story not only showing how often things that happen to us in life affect the choices we make but it showed what often happens amonst siblings as they grow up and leave their family home. I loved what the quilt illustrated.

    A Solitary Quest
A SOLITARY SOUL'S QUEST* -by J.Kaval - Katha Kshetre International Literary Journal - First Quarter 2006
Life is a riddle, a samassya. Human life is more so. From the time immemorial man has tried to solve the mystery of human life on earth. Holy books - Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, Bible, Quran and many others - claim to have final answers to human existence. Scientific treatises by Aristotle to H.G Wells offer explanations but never adequate answers. The fundamental questions such as who am I? Who made me? Why am I here? What is my destiny? What is death? What's after death?' remain unanswered. So the human search goes on. After Ontology the Psychology has opened up inner avenues and human spirit is still diving deep further to solve the riddle of human life on earth.
Human search for its identity among the beings will continue on two levels of `I'- (the inner self) and outer self, the world (the society). Here is one such an inquiry into inside one's spirit in `Many Faces to Many Places' written by Judy Azar LeBlanc, author of several books on spirituality. The `inquiry into inside through' is brought out allegorically using the medium of fiction, and that is done beautifully by the author. The sum and substance of the book is graphically scripted on the back cover of the book, thus: `Many Faces to Many Places is a spell-binding three-part story of a courageous spirit who, with her unique gift of communicating with nature, takes an extraordinary journey through the world of timeless knowledge. Guided by faith, Many Faces is led through a land that reveals a succession of the hidden mysteries of the soul. When she thinks that she has completed her journey, she loses her faith. Now alone, she finds herself in a land that is designed to satisfy the subtle but powerful passions of the flesh, and she then discovers that she had missed the ultimate truth. Many Faces to Many Places is a work that allegorically travels to the inner places of the spirit in search for timeless knowledge and truth'
The name Many Faces is reflective of a young and hungry soul like Mary or Martha. She escapes from the clutches of a witch (Avidhya -ignorance) and is guided by `Eyes of Faith'. Many Faces encounters both friends and foes of the human soul - the capital virtues and vices. Finally Many Faces along with the Dove of peace, Eyes of Faith and Elusive the Golden Butterfly of Happiness reaches the radiant light of Freedom that engulfs her, and she feels born again.
The readers will find the author's reflection on time, nature, life, birth, marriage, love, faith, death and freedom.

    Great Series
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I couldn't put this one down. When I had finished one book I had to go and get the next book in the series. It kept my attention all the way through the series.
What does Davina Porter bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I have listened some other books by Davina Porter. I like the way she makes the people come alive when she tells the story.
    wonderful story
Would you listen to The Lady Of Stonewycke again? Why?
Yes, it's is a great story and read by a great actor.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Lady Of Stonewycke?
The moment when Joanna and Alec stood on the cliff
    To long to be reunited
The story was well written and kept my interest but 47 years of life without being with your one true love is way to long for a happy ending, it felt more like a wasted life. Even so the ending did make up for it somewhat.

    This is a lovely story
I am glad I did not get put off by another's review. I found this book to be as enjoyable as Cindy Martinusen's Salt Garden.
Characters are well-developed, and the story is beautifully written as I've come this expect from this writer. The reader of the story is expressive and adds to the story by her narration--I enjoyed her voice very much! VERY much. I've learned to trust my instinct rather than reviews and I'm glad I did so in this case. You can bet I'll continue to read everything Ms Martinusen writes.
The first book I haven't finished in a long time.
I finally got through Part I of this book, hoping it would pick up. The author just didn't make me care enough to want to know the "secret" to endure listening to Part II.
Almost maddening, as well, is that the narrator seems to have a head cold. Listening made me want to blow my nose!

    An easy listen
This book was very good. The characters were well developed and realistic. The narration, however, took some getting used to. All the men seemed to sound alike in some places. I was quickly engrossed in the book, though and got used to the narrator. This book is similar to one that Janette Oke would write in that it has a simple plot and a predictable ending. I have listened to this book 3-4 times since purchasing it and still enjoy it.
    good story but....
I enjoyed the story but the author did a better job of writing the story than she did as the narrator. Her voices for the men and Polly took a lot away from the story. It was hard to picture a handsome romantic lead in my mind when what I heard was barney fife or chester from marshall dillon. The voice she used for Polly sounded like a whiney brat. I think it would have sounded much better if a man had read the story.
    Excellent Read
This was an enjoyable story. I was surprised by what a good job the author did on the reading. One reviewer said it was difficult to distinguish which of the men were speaking in some parts but that did not present too much of a problem for me.
    Very Pleased
It took a little bit of figuring out for me. But after receiving an answer to my email about using itunes and putting the book on cds, I love it. This is one of my favorite authors and even though I'd already read the book I wanted it in my car. You will not be disappointed.
    Sweet
I enjoyed the calming narrator and sweet story. This is a light romance for a quick read.

a good ending to the trilogy
Several years ago there was a Hallmark TV Channel movie called "The Shunning" set in Pennsylvania Amish country about a girl who found she was adopted and determined to find her birth mother, which led to her shunning. This book, "The Reckoning" is the third and final of the trilogy. I enjoyed the entire story. I don't know what it is about these books set in Amish country that I like but I also like Hallmark Channel movies so maybe that's the connection. This book was fairly short and easy to get through and if you like these kinds of books, you'll find this one entertaining.
Speed with which the reader spoke
The book might have been better if The reader had not talked too fast Thanks
    wonderful gutt story,
What didnt you like about Marguerite Gavins performance?
Her reading was quite acceptable, but the Pennsylvania Dutch accent isn't Irish! The wrong accent was VERY distracting to the story.

    Deserving of 10 stars!!!
If I could, I would give this book 10 stars. I have to say this is one of the most well-written books I have ever "read". This is the first book I've "read" by Linda Nichols, but it won't be the last. I love the longer audio books and can usually make them last quite a while. Not so with this book. I listened to it every chance I could. More than 16 hours and it didn't take me long to finish it. This will be one I listen to again! If you get this book, you won't be disappointed.
Raw Truth, No "Plastic" Christians Here
Linda Nichols is one of my favorite authors, and this audio book is no exception. It begins with a young couple living together, unmarried and raising their young son together. When the father of the boy is unable to make a commitment to marry his mother, she makes a difficult, but right decision to leave. What happens after that is a wonderful story, spanning years . . . and not at all what you might expect . . . the characters are human, warts and all, not the "pretty people" you see in church on Sunday, dressed to the nines . . . but real, doubting people . . . sinful people . . . the ones that Jesus encountered and loved . . . the woman at the well . . . the ones who weren't self righteous . . . Don't miss this story . . .
    If I Gained The World
Great listen, interesting characters, entertaining. Wonderful message. God's idea of treasure and the "worldly" idea of treasure are so different. It reminds me of a saying; there is no better time to count our blessings than when we are tempted to believe we have none. Jennifer
    wonderful christian book
loved the family that was created by all different folks from different backgrounds to create a loving family who all accepted each other, supported each other despite their veried backgrounds, showing ttere are different types of families besides the family you are born into.....best part was the ending though..and you will just have to listen to, for that...but I believe you will like it!!!
