All the Way Home

This is an excellent book. With so much attention being given to illegal immigrants this book draws attention to how we treat our own citizens. Some of which who went through the painstaking process of becoming United States citizens through naturalization and some who were never immigrants in the first place. In every place there are going to be those who hate and those who love. The latter takes the help of the Almighty. That's what this book is all about. It's a must read for this point in time.

Never wanted to put down my headphones

I really enjoyed this book. It kept my interest and had great character depth. Inspiring and wonderful reading that was very enjoyable from beginning to end. Not a book that takes several chapters to get into. From the very beginning I found myself not wanting to put down my headphones.

Great Listen!

This was a book that I could not stop listening to! I enjoyed it so much and I wish that there were more books by this author on audible.

A lovely book.

You will fall in love with the characters, I miss them already. The narration was first rate. An all around enjoyable book and one that compells you to question your own stand on many issues. A good novel not only entertains but also teaches, and I learned a great many things about World War II and the fight for civil rights in the South that I never knew.

Lovely Book

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. I laughed, cried and cheered as the women in the book grew and came to know and love each other. I was disappointed with the outcome for Mrs. Judson, but not every story has a happy outcome. It was well written and well read. I loved the book and highly recommend it.

God works in mysterious ways.

The narrator of the book gets and keeps your attention. It doesn't matter how poor or how rich you are we all share the same problems. Pastor Jakes hits a home run with this book.

If I had a teen...

Friends tell me that I ought to lighten up my reading life. So I tired some chick lit, but found most of it boring, poorly written, and often containing too much explicit sex (made more graphic by audio format, even if was cliched). When I saw this on sale, I thought Christian chick lit (or lad lit, I guess, in this case) might be better. If I had a teenager, I'd be glad if she/he read this, but it was a dull listen for middle-aged me.

Great Read

This is an excellent read. I would recommend it to anyone. When one reads the description, you would think it to be a purely entertaining book, however, there is more to this story then meets the eye. This story has some truly unexpected insight into thought relative to relationships and bonding.

If You Believe the Bible, You'll Love This Book

Unlike previous reviewers, I've no interest in reviewing the Bible or Christian Beliefs. Wrong forum for that. I am assuming that the authors, not being hypocrates, believe Biblical teachings.

While this book isn't for the faint of heart, or the "Pie In The Sky" philosopher, and, like many books of prophecy in the scriptures, is more "meat" than "milk," this series by Jenkins & Le'Haye is inspiring and challenging. Having conducted a long term study of prophecy in the scriptures, it interested me to see scriptural prophecies applied to fictious modern events. I think the authors did a wonderful job in keeping true to the teaching of the scriptures (sorry naysayers...but God is a God of Justice too...it's all in the bible. Check it for yourself) and at the same time create a great fictious story surrounding these coming biblical events of "biblical proportions." Nice thing about this series is that the authors remained completely true to the scripture, and were respectful and careful with their conclusions where empiracal information wasn't forthcoming in the Word, even going so far by saying with the characters, "We're not sure what happens here." While I don't agree on all of their conclusions, it should be noted that the Left Behind series is primarily a work of fiction and should be enjoyed in that context.

If your exposure to biblical prophecy is limited, some of the subject matter involving the Tribulation Period can be shocking. If that's the case, I recommend listening to this series with bible in hand so you can "check for yourself" as you go. Some hold the flawed persective that "God" and "Goodness" are soft. They are not. Some don't like to hear that God, the Ultimate Judge, actually passes judgements. Nor when God punishes or puts his foot down (the Flood? Eden?). If you don't accept God as a Judge (Sodom/Gomorrah?) then how can you truly understand God's Love? I knew a man once who said that in court, the Judge was being to Judgemental!

Where is the rest of the sreies?

Audible (and so far everywhere else that I've looked) does not have the complete series in Spanish! I don't know if the other books are "in the works" or not, but I've been watching the availability for about six months now. So far it ends around "Soul Harvest", which I think is about #6.

Pure Crap!

How is this science fiction? This drivel might be considered fantasy, but it surely ain't sience fiction. Do us all a favor and list this crap under religion or cults or something else but not here.

Mediocre follow on

I was more impatient to finish this book and actually found myself fast-forwarding a few sections. I loved the first book and think the storyline is great.

The author is writing about things he clearly doesn't understand, such as blended families. So sometimes he gets into directions that don't work or fails to arrive to the natural conclusion. You could say some of it is necessary for his story line timing but other times it's bad writing.

Author keeps putting lengthy flash-backs smack in front of key story line events in order to develop characters.

Some characters repeatedly admonish themselves word-for-word the same way. This poor writing is aggravating.

I clearly get the feeling 'Left Behind' established a recipe and this series is simply trying to cash-in on that recipe.

Apocalypse Crucible

I like this series even more than the original Left Behind Series. I'm becoming quite intrigued by the different scenarios that are developing. I'm hoping the entire series is on audio. The narrator is excellent. Narration always provides an extra richness and depth to an outstanding novel.

Excellent story and narrator!

I have thoroughly enjoyed the first two Left Behind Apocalypse audio books. I have listened to them both twice because I enjoy them so much. I am, however, very disappointed that the last two books in the series are not on audio. I have a difficult time reading books due to a health problem so I can only listen to books on audio:( I did buy the last two paperback books in the series and I am really going to try to read them. I have to know what happens in the last two books!

SLOW SLOW SLOW

The whole book only advances a couple of days, my goodness he needs to have a better follow up that this. And I wish the characters would stop talking to themselves after every sentence. I would have thrown this across the room if I was reading it.

I can't wait!!

Excellent continuation of the Apocalypse series. I can't wait for the next part to find out how Goose and his family will fair. It really works great with listening to it right after hearing/reading the Left Behind series. Excellent book

Excellent!!!!!

Eli is a great novel that pulls Christ from 2,000 years ago to today's world. It's not only a great work of art, but makes Christ seem more real and very much applicable to today's society. I was truly impressed by this book and very much recommend it to anyone.

Winner! Remember why you said yes to Christ.

I remember my own was walk with God and just how much he loves me. The story held my heart and mind as the story lives in to different worlds. It pushed me to understand that sitting on the fence was not where I wanted to be. Christ gave me a purpose and this book reminded me to stay the course. I don't like when religon is pushed at me yet I was romanced by this book. If you are not sure how to fit God into your life than read this book and find out how you fit in God plan for your life.

Modern Day Parallel to Life of Christ

Fictional work on "what if Jesus was here today" . . . while the book was interesting and okay . . . and certainly biblically correct, I found the story to be predictable and lacking the depth that I would have liked . . . That in no way takes away from what the book has to offer a person who is searching or who may not have read the Bible and know the truth of who Christ is. As a long time follower of Christ, a long way from attaining the goal, I did not find it to be particularly helpful to my growth or my walk.

Inspired!!!

Only God could have inspired such a candid interpretation of the life and mission of Jesus Christ. I was so touched by this book, that I had to pass it on to my husband, who was equally touched. Not only were our lives touched but we also learnt more about Jesus by looking at him as one of us, here and now, not 2000 years ago. It's so well read (and written) that you're just instantly gripped, I was drawn in right from the beginning and there was no letting go until it was all over. I even cried like a baby - you become part of the family, one of the disciples and you're right there. A wonderfully fantastic book!

Not so Grand...

I was very much looking forward to this book but was in many ways let down, and the annoying narrator (who is also the author) sure didn't help. But nonetheless, Myers did an interesting job with "translating" the Bible into today's world.

Enjoyed this book very much

Enjoyed this book very much. It clearly outlined the journey of Salvation through faith in Jesus, but doesn't stop at the profession of faith like so many others. Instead, the author continues the 'journey' through the inevitable changes that a true believer will encounter, all with a clear scripture reference. This book also shows us that though each Christian may have a unique journey, their are key 'seasons' we have in common which makes you feel more connected.

Awesome book!

Loved this book! I have never read a book so full of Scripture. And her use of Scripture to paint the picture of true Salvation is fabulous. I am going to use this book as an evangelistic tool for some of my family members; and to share with some Christian friends in ministry, to encourage Truth in their presentation of the Gospel to others.

This was really sweet...a story of a couple struggling with the death of a child and there healing journey!! I really liked it...Its short and sweet and kept my interest the whole way through!!

Christmas Stray had me catching my breath while losing my heart. Juliette and Gabe's story is as profound as it is heartbreaking. What once was strong, has been fractured by grief and hopelessness. Ms. Ayala tackles the subject of lost faith and broken hearts, while inspiring readers with her courageous characters. No parent should have to endure what this couple did. However, an adorable puppy and an equally lost little boy give this broken couple a chance at healing and moving forward. KLEENEX IS A MUST!!

Lovely story of hope

Juliette and Gabe are a couple who are still very much in love, but their relationship has suffered since the loss of their young son a year ago, on Christmas Eve. They travel to a remote cabin to try to save their marriage. Juliette also looks at the trip as an escape from all things Christmas, since she never plans to celebrate the holidays again. The couple find a little boy and his puppy just after losing power in the cabin, and everything changes.

I adore this story. Juliette and Gabe both seem very real to me, and Patrick and Puppy are adorable. I absolutely love the magical elements. The writing and the narration are wonderful.

A story of loss, love, and the power to heal...

Juliette is like a shell of herself. After losing her son, she wants nothing to do with the holidays. She can't help but feel the loss all the time, and she never feels happy. When her husband, Gabe, insists on a weekend at a cabin, she demands there be no Christmas decorations. Gabe and Juliette find a young boy and a puppy, and Juliette takes him in as if he is her own. As she cares for him, she starts to find joy again. She knows this isn't her son, but she feels closer to him anyway. Can a little boy and a puppy help heal the broken heart and soul of a couple that lost the most important thing in their lives? This story will make you laugh, it will make you cry, and it will make you believe in the power of love. I absolutely loved this story. The narrator was enjoyable to listen to as well. I highly recommend this book!

This was a real tear jerker!

For a relatively short book, this book packed a punch. My emotions were all over the place with this one. It deals with a couple trying to revive their marriage which is in danger of falling apart after the death of their small son. He passed away at Christmas time and the woman, Juliette, is just totally done with Christmas and swears she will never celebrate again. During a snowstorm, she and Gabe discover what can only be described as curious and miraculous beings.

Great melding of history, romance, and Biblical truth

I just love Tracy Higley. I love her books too.

I was excited to read and review her re-release of Isle of Shadows (formerly Shadow of Colossus). Get the first three chapters and more!

The main character, Tessa, is very likeable and believable. I immediately saw her as a heroine and wanted her to succeed in everything: life, love, happiness.

This is the ultimate redemption story, similar to that of many women of the Bible. A fallen woman doesn't know she needs God and she finds living water. All her problems don't go away, but having God and other believers help her makes it all more bearable.

I especially love this book because it takes place during Old Testament times. The history is impeccable and accurate. I would love to travel with Tracy as her assistant on one of her research tours!

As always, Tracy Higley weaves real Bible characters into her story. In Isle of Shadows, our Bible character is Simeon, who trusts God to see our Savior before death. I too wonder if they might have been really like that...

Tracy Higley's books are a beautiful tapestry of Biblical history. The right amount of love story satisfies all audiences. The books don't glorify evil, but show how God and believers can overcome all evil. I encourage my eldest daughter (12) to read Higley's books when they coincide with our history studies!

A vibrant, suspenseful novel that brings ancient Rhodes to life

The Colossus of Rhodes has always held an air of mystery for me, but Iâve never taken the time to learn more about it. Author Tracy L. Higley took a great deal of time to research the history and culture behind this Greek statue of the god Helios, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The result is "Isle of Shadows," a novel of political intrigue, romance, and suspense set in the last days before the earthquake that destroyed the famous statue.

Ever since her mother gave her up to be trained as a hetaera (educated courtesan), Tessa has spent her existence serving the influential Glaucus, one of ten strategoi (political leaders) of the Greek island of Rhodes. Like many men of his day and position, Glaucus views his hetaera as a prized possession, a plaything to use up, rather than as a human being with opinions and feelings.
