Something to belive in.

This is one of Deepak's best. I felt that his theories were substantiated, well-researched and gave me something to think about. Truly, this is a book not so biased about one religious belief on the after-life but a true introspective look into the syncretic nature of all religions. If you are one who believes all religions have some validity, and wish to try to reconcile that with the religion you practice, ethis could be a book for you.

I had to keep rewinding to completely understand everything. I don't normally write reviews, but this one is a very special book.

Didn't meet my expectations

I'm very interested in life after death, because I lost my oldest daughter to cancer in 2003. After she died I had a couple experiences I could only categorize as visits from her. I got a little lost in the Quantum Theory section and did not find overall that the book helped me come to better terms with what I believe (or don't believe). Deepak is somewhat critical of those who doubt and that has given me some ideas to think about as I'm definitely in the doubter camp. Also, his comparison of those who lack belief to materialists was interesting. But it is still difficult for me to "get there"..... I did enjoy his voice and listening for the most part....

WOW What a trip into the unknown. A MUST LISTEN TO

Everytime I listen to Deepak Chopra I learn something new. He has opened new doors to the wonder of life as well as death. Thank you for a great presentation and better understanding of who we are and where we're going.

Criminal

This book is aimed at the weak minded. It is definitely NOT scientific nor relies on peer reviewed references on the topics. Chopra tells lies for money and he knows it. However as an experiment to gauge the gullibility of readers it could possibly be worth something, but the actual material presented is rubbish. If anyone believed in his 'thesis' they would be better off spending their money on a good psychiatrist or banging their head against a wall until they become rational again.

What was most disappointing about Hidayat Inayat-Khan and Deepak Chopra s story?

Hidayat Inayat-Khan is difficult to understand because of his pronunciation and intonation. It takes a lot of effort to understand what he is saying and the meaning of sentences is lost because I can't understand individual words.

Would you be willing to try another one of Hidayat Inayat-Khan and Deepak Chopra s performances?

There are many Deepak Chopra books that I have enjoyed but I wouldn't try another Hidayat Inayat-Khan book unless it had another reader.

The delivery by John Daido Loori Roshi is great. Just as all dharma talks, be present with the words and everything else is secondary.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Shakyamuni Buddha and his struggle which mirrors our own.

What does the narrator bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

It's a lecture. He breaths life into the Buddha.

Don't get it unless you are studying for an exam

Only listened to about half an hour, but couldn't stand it anymore! Reason lies in the format - he reads two lines of Omar, then a paraphrase, then an expanded meaning. This totally ruins the sublime poetry. His voice is perfectly suited to the beauty of the words, and if only he had read the poem in its entirety first, then did the paraphrase and then the expanded meanings, it would have been great. As it is, I could only reccommend this to someone studying this poem in order to pass an exam. I had never read the poem, and it may be ok if you have read it and want to go into it in depth. This is no substitute for the written word
