    Sarah-What Happen??? Narration Terrible!!!!
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Anger- how can audible accept this bad performance?
    Any additional comments?
This narration was just the worse! there is no way to rate the story because Sarah Coomes just killed this book. It is almost like she decided to make fun of the book.
I have heard her in other books and she was fine, maybe not the greatest, but not bad at all. In this book, it was so bad that at times it was commical-every male voice sounded like a badly constipated old man; the entire book is over-acted and sounds like a bad parody, but not in a funny way.
I am very surprise that audible published it as is- where is your quality control?
DO NOT DO IT-bottom line- it is not worth anything, even free it is impossible to listen to it.
    Narration Terrible
Can't comment on the story because the intolerable narration made it impossible to finish. Do not waste money or credit.
    This narrator Sucks
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
The narrator makes getting through this novel; positively tedious. Her reading sounds like its stuck between a whine and a growl which is a little disturbing. I eventually just bought the book for my Kindle as the narrator was really working my nerves.
How could the performance have been better?
    Have another narrator.
Do you think The Stranger I Married needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No all loose ends were brought to a close.
    The voice is ear shattering!
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
No one but the deaf! The book is great but the narrator ruined it!
Who was your favorite character and why?
I like them all because they are so varried yet they blend well.
What didnt you like about Sarah Coomess performance?
Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard! I could not listen without frowning and gaining a headache! How no one noticed the severity of her terrible performance is beyond me!
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
All of the above only because of the narrator.
    Any additional comments?
I would love my money back since I couldn't even get passed half of the first chapter!
    Horrible Narration!!!
I have to stop listening, I can't finish because of the badest narration ever. Spear your credit.

    Publisher's Summary:
Paris, 1919: The world's leaders have gathered to rebuild from the ashes of the Great War. But for one woman, the City of Light harbors dark secrets and dangerous liaisons, for which many could pay dearly.
Brought to the peace conference by her father, a German diplomat, Margot Rosenthal initially resents being trapped in the congested French capital, where she is still looked upon as the enemy. But as she contemplates returning to Berlin and a life with Stefan, the wounded fiancé she hardly knows anymore, she decides that being in Paris is not so bad after all.
Bored and torn between duty and the desire to be free, Margot strikes up unlikely alliances: with Krysia, an accomplished musician with radical acquaintances and a secret to protect; and with Georg, the handsome, damaged naval officer who gives Margot a job - and also a reason to question everything she thought she knew about where her true loyalties should lie.
Against the backdrop of one of the most significant events of the century, a delicate web of lies obscures the line between the casualties of war and of the heart, making trust a luxury that no one can afford.

    Book 0 in the series
Interesting that this book is listed as Book 0 in 'The Kommondant's Girl' series. All of the previous books by the author have been set in World War II while this one is set in Paris and Berlin in 1919. Why the change in the timeline?
This book starts off with the protagonist and her father living in Paris where the father is working on the German side of the treaty ending World War I. They had lived in England during the war as the father was somehow able to avoid the war. It was an interesting time, the European allies were mad at Germany and wanted to stick it to them, the Americans wanted a peace that allowed Germany a change to recover while the Communists were about. The protagonist is a Jewish German, 20 years old, trying tfind her way in the world. When the European countries have their way in the treaty the wheels are set in motion for World War II by dictating terms that would never allow Germany to get backs on its feet. Father and daughter are caught up in this and after the disastrous treaty end up moving back to Berlin. It's a true coming of age story where the girl decides to stand on her own two feet.
One thing about this story different from the others Jenoff books I've listened to is the Jewish issue. The seeds of the issue that became disastrous in WWII are here but the Jewish issue is never at the forefront of the book as it is in the others. But the author leaves the story such that other books could be written with the issue coming out as time moves forward toward to the war.
I've wondered in listening to Jenoff's books where she came up with the ideas for her books? In doing some background work, it turns out Jenoff grew up in New Jersey, went to undergrad at George Washington Univ. in Washington DC, and got a Masters at Cambridge in the UK. She then became a Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Army working at the Pentagon then switched to the State Department and was posted to Krakow, Poland. In Poland, among other things, she worked on restoring Auschwitz and other camps built during the war. Through this process she met many Poles that had survived the war and told her their stories of the war. It is these memories that are at the core of her plots and characters.

    The Last Summer Delivers
I had to listen to this twice. I love Downtown Abbey, and this is in that vain. The writer's diction is carefully chosen. The characters are so vivid both through the beautiful narration and the writer's brush strokes. I found myself close to tears when Clarissa is close to tears. I was rooting for her to be happy. This novel is heartbreaking at times but brilliantly written.
    done well
good story. I liked that everything wasn't perfect, the author did a good job keeping the reader engaged
    Amazing Narrator
I think the storyline was good and yes, it was well written. However the narrator's voice drew me in at once and made me care what happened to the characters.
I would love another of Judith Klinghorn's works to be recorded for Audible with the same narrator.
I love this period in British history as well and I would be sure to buy it
Downton Abbey meets The Great Gatsby
This seemed like a mash-up of Downton Abbey and The Great Gatsby. Entertaining ultimately insubstantial, and MUCH too drawn-out. Lovely narration, however, which kept me listening.
    Romantic, heartbreaking, heartwarming
I found it hard to even begin another book after listening to The Last Summer because I just keep thinking about it. It's descriptive writing draws you into the story. It's heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. It's hard to stop listening. I recommend this book! FYI, the sex scenes are graphic but can be skimmed over.

    10 HRS OF LISTENING PLEASURE
If you are like me and you just love a good Historical/Romances then this one doesn't disappoint.
This book is made up of great characters who have you sympathising over their dilemmas, a good plot that's not your usual 'Rake sees Virgin over ballroom' type, lovely building romance and throw in a couple of baddies, a twist or two and you've got yourself a good listen.
Worth a credit? It is definite YES - but at $9.79 I would just buy it and save your credits for a more expensive book.
A mile wide & an inch deep
It started off good, then it became apparent it was one of THOSE cheap cookie-cutter romance novels where the same lines are repeated over and over and over. The lead characters assuming the worst, constantly whining. Same story, different names & locations, nothing original. Ugh! What a waste of a good credit.
    Enjoyable
I enjoyed listening to "Intimate Deception", although there were details that seemed unimportant to the story that I felt would have been better without. It being a little different from your average Historical Romance held my interest.
Sarah Coomes gave a good performance, adding to the listening enjoyment. In my opinion the narrator can make make or break a story.
I would recommend this audio to any Historical Romance lover.
    Deceive, Deceived, REPETITIVE...
Oh my, I would love to know the word count on Deceive and Deceived. I do believe those words would total over 200 if not more. And I don't believe I am exaggerating. Also, I like a whole lot more dialog, this book had very little dialog in my opinion. The repetitive description of the feelings between the two main characters was just too much. The same thing over and over. I feel like the author couldn't think of anything to write so she would just repeat their feelings and thoughts. I did finish the book, even though I did predict the ending long before the ending. I am not saying the book was bad just annoying with very little dialog. It could have been much better, the plot and story line had so much potential. The narrator I thought did an excellent job and I think that's what kept me listening to the end.
Will tortured hero finally find solace?
Intimate Deception is the first book in a duet by Laura Landon set during Victorian England where the hero is a tortured soul who's lost two wives while trying to give birth to his heirs. He's sworn off getting married again and visits a brothel once a week to escape getting another woman pregnant.

Not Blake's best and killed off by the performance
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
With a decent performance this could have been a 4 star. I had read the book before and liked certain aspects very much.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
    The woman lacked some sense.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Susy Harbulak?
Anyone. I hate to say such awful things about anyone trying to earn their living, but she was just awful. I could have overlooked, with effort, her too strident, too fast narration and her Southern accent that just did not seem right for these characters. But I can not tolerate someone who did not even prepare herself by discovering how to pronounce the words. "Burnoose" does not rhyme with "furnace", "sanguine" does not rhyme with "beguine" or "queen", and "lithe" [and this one set me off yelling as it was farther in the book and barely hanging on] DOES NOT RHYME WITH "PITH". Look it up or use howjsay.com.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment. I have been a fan of Blake's for a long time, but her narrators so far are not great.

    Wonderful story and great narration.
Would you listen to Royal Seduction again? Why?
This is one of my favorite books and have read it countless times. I was thrilled to see it offered on audible. I have to say it was a comfortable listen , I liked listening to the book and will do so many more times. The narrator was great.
I get bored with books easy and don't finish half do what I start but this book is non stop action and so it keeps me engaged in the story. If you are like me and like Johanna Lindsey and Julie Garwood you should like this book also.
What other book might you compare Royal Seduction to and why?
Royal Passion. This it the h/h son's story and is even better than Royal Seduction. The H/h show up a lot in Royal Passion and you find out what happened to everyone in Royal Seduction.
I would also recommend Dream of Me by Josie Litton.
What about Melissa Reizian Franks performance did you like?
I loved Melissa Frank's performance. She is a great narrator and is now one of my favorites. I just relaxed and let her lead me though the story. That is unusual for me but one I loved.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There was a death in the book that really made me sad to see.
    Any additional comments?
I really don't do reviews because I am lousy at them. I figure the book already has a description so I don't like to repeat that. But if I really like a book and like the narrator like this book I want to recommend it. The narrator really made this book for me, and it was already one of my favorites.
    Smart heroine
Good story and pretty good narration. The narrator needs to practice her Scottish accent - hers sounded Jamaican and was often hard to understand.
    Pass this one by
Has Royal Seduction turned you off from other books in this genre?
I have read so many better books in this genre, I know I can find more.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Accents needed some work. The Scottish one especially.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
    None I can think of.
    Any additional comments?
Women are raped over and over. Many scenes of chasing, fighting and men behaving badly, (how many bandits can one small group of people encounter?) Periods were the plot is not being moved along at all. I won't be reading more by this author. I started advancing the book by chapters just to get through it. After a while you just think, "enough already!". I didn't find this "romance" very romantic and didn't particularly care about any of the characters. The narrator wasn't horrible, but her accents need work.

    Very cute enjoyable romances
This was another one of my "on sale" books so I got more than my money's worth on this one. It took me a bit of time to get into this book I think because of the three story lines but once I did I enjoyed it a lot. Some parts were predictable and a few unpredictable which made it more enjoyable. Narration was great!! This is another great book for a rainy day or to take on vacation. ;-)
Three Romances for the Price of One!
This is another book I got simply because it was narrated by the glorious Rosalyn Landor. Due to the rather complex story line following three siblings and their respective love interests, this story really needed someone who could make their voices distinct and Ms Landor did so wonderfully. Having said that, I still found the book a little muddled and it took at least four chapters before I had a firm grasp on what was going on. I won't rush out and buy another Leigh Michaels book...unless, of course, Rosalyn Landor narrates it!
3 GREAT STORIES ALL FOR LESS THAN $10
3 likeable siblings, 1 castle, 2 interfering relations and a Grand Ball are all weaved together to produce this fun Regency tale that shows in the end love can conquer all if it's just given a chance. Easy-going light listen with mild sex scenes.
Plus all the characters are portrayed by the brilliant and gifted voice of Ms Landor who brings charm, elegance and wit to each easily identifiable part that's played.
Worth a credit? As it's only $9.79 I have to say no just buy it and save your credit for a more costly book.
Three romance i one book, can it be better
Would you consider the audio edition of The Birthday Scandal to be better than the print version?
This book i think would be better printed. The audio version got me confused. I love Rosalyn Landor, but the way the book is written, makes it difficult to follow sometimes. It jumps from couple to couple, in the middle of somthing there will happen.
What other book might you compare The Birthday Scandal to and why?
There are many books to compare this one whit, because all the lovestoryes in this book are classic. You know what will happen, but you can't stop reading.
Have you listened to any of Rosalyn Landors other performances before? How does this one compare?
Most of my audiobooks is Narrated by Rosalyn Landor.

    A Heart Warming Story
A well written heartwarming story you don't want to miss. It's a story most people should be able to relate to. The characters are so well portrayed by Natalie Ross, they seem real.
    I would definately recommend it.
    A Wonderful Story
Sam and her young son leaves So. America to live on a ranch that her uncle left her. Wyatt lives on a nearby ranch had hopes of purchasing Ezra's ranch and was aghast when he found out a single woman with a young child was going to raise minature horses there. Later she takes on the town troublesome twins and let them live with her on the ranch. Of course there are problems with the twins and with some of the children at school. There are a series of accidents, with fingers pointing at the twins of course.
Give this book a read you won't regret it.
Natalie Ross is a wonderful narrator, she brings her books to life, you are able to distinguish all of her characters they are done so well.
A Family Story with a hint of Romance!
What did you love best about Starry Montana Sky?
This is a wonderfully grand story about a family coming together. I loved the premise of Samantha being able to live out her dreams after being held captive for so long. Her naivete and kindheartedness towards the children just won you over. I found Wyatt to be a strong leading man faults and all. In addition, I just loved those fallabella horses they almost stole the show!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jack was my favorite character, I found that I loved how honest and protective he was as well as how he progressed through out the book to be more and more trusting of those around him. He also had such wonderful interactions with the different animals.
Have you listened to any of Natalie Rosss other performances before? How does this one compare?
I found Natalie Ross' performance excellent. I found her to be better than in the previous book of the series. She has this wonderful way of creating voices and accents that are so appropriate for the different characters. I think her voices helped me fall in love with Jack and Daniel even more than if I had just read the book. I just loved how she pronounced the names of the horses with so much love!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The most touching moment for me in the book was when Jack saved Sarah.

    Unique Story-Great Narrator
"Dutchess By Night" takes you through a gamut of emotions, as one comes to expect from Eloisa James, and Susan Duerden gave an excellent performance. I don't remember hearing Susan Duerden read before, but she's one of the best I've heard. I will look for books that she narrates in the future.
    Simply wonderful!

Excellent writing, good character growth, inclusion of a great cast of children (and puppy), and sublime narration all contribute to the overwhelming success of this audiobook. We meet the Duke in previous books in the series. We may not have liked him then, but here we must love him. I enjoyed this book tremendously! The epilogue was truly a satisfying finish touch. Thank you to the author, the narrator, and Audible.
    worth the credit!!!

I bought this book cautiously because the reviews were not all that great but I liked the book. I like it when the sexual tension is drawn out in a book and the reader is left in suspension and this book certainly delivers.
Harriet is determined to have a bit of fun after she is ignored for a couple of years by society due to her husbands suicide. She is viewed as the cause of the Ducks death and unhappiness. She travels with to the disreputable home of Lord Strange with two friends but she attends as a man to protect her name. Lord Strange is immediately attracted to her feminine beauty and has to deal with his internal battle of liking someone he believes to be a man. He eventually figures out she is not a man and sets out to seduce her. Since she is not aware of being discovered, his attentions make her uncomfortable about liking a man she thinks is now interested in men. The only issue she lies about by omitting is that she is a Duchess. He does not like titles and even more strongly higher titles. Discovering her identity can ruin the relationship she finds herself in with a man she loves. Now youll just have to read the book to see how she deals with that obstacle.
    Eloisa James at her best!
After reading the previous book in this series, "An Affair Before Christmas, I was a bit wary. But in my opinion, EJ is at her best in this novel. At the center of the storyline is the burgeoning relationship between Harriet, Duchess of Berrow & Lord Strange (Jem). Harriet and her friend Jemma go to the home of the scandalously disreputable Lord Strange on a lark, with the rakish Duke of Villers as their escort.

I really really wanted to love this but......
Yes, this had such potential and I usually love MJP's books but I found this one to be a wee bit too slow and lacking in emotion. Duncan, a Scottish Laird and a weather mage Guardian is attracted to Gwynne (a Mundane) someone who hasn't any magic, or so they thought, and almost instantly proposes to her. The mage Council forces Gwynne to accept Duncan's proposal because they can see future events tie the two together so they go to his Castle in Scotland. But they get caught up in the Jacobite rebellion with dire consequences.
The problems about this book was the two main characters get married early on in the story and they seemed to amble along quite happily until near the end therefore there was no great build-up to the romance and so part 1 was a bit tedious, luckily part 2 was more lively. The characters didn't seem to have any depth to them and it just lacked the 'sizzle' that we normally associate with MJP's books.
Worth a credit? This is the start of a new series so I hope book 2 will be better and I guess I'll be downloading it because I can't resist her books and, if your a fan like me, you'll want this, but she's written far better Historical romances that would be more worthy of your credit.
Good Solid Read by a Very Good Narrator
Where does A Kiss of Fate rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Though not of the high energy variety, this book takes a time in history and wraps it in magic and emotion. Character development is very well done, good since this is the first in a series.
What did you like best about this story?
The linking of all the characters and the telling of their own parts of the story.
What does Davina Porter bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Davina is one of the best narrators. She adds the Scottish feel and makes it work. She also has the ability to soften harsher parts of the story and adds emotion to all the characters.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes, but had to do it in two. (-;
    Any additional comments?
This book is not one of the more intricately written with many sub-plots, but it is a well done and enjoyable story.
Not worth the time to download.
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
    Don't know anyone that would.
What do you think your next listen will be?
It was a Jack Reacher novel.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The narrator was fine. The story and the writing was blah.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
    The narrator.
    Guardian Series- 2nd Story
    Any additional comments?
The Guardian Series is written by Mary Jo Putney otherwise known as "M. J. Putney". A Kiss of Fate is actually the 2nd story in the series. It should follow: 1.
