In simple and easy to follow steps, The Target teaches anybody to become a good leader or manager in a company. It teaches how to develop trust and confidence and to positively influence others to achieve superior performance. It is an innovative, proactive approach that managements in companies, big and small, should take to keep employees completely satisfied and productive. It teaches some simple truths on how to hire well and to match the right people with the right jobs. We all know that motivated employees are highly productive employees and The Target shows the way to achieve that goal.
I have found many useful tips in the book that I was able to implement in my company right away. There were other things mentioned in the book that I had already implemented but getting them from an expert really confirmed to me that I was doing the right things. It also helped me to clearly visualize the roles of my team members and to communicate with them about my expectations for them. Stephen's experience in addressing specific scenarios shows throughout the book.
I highly recommend the book to all individuals but especially to people in a any kind of leadership positions.
Nuggets of wisdom about matching jobs and people
This is an easy-to-read and apply book to help anyone wanting to avoid making those expensive hiring mistakes. Stephen does an excellent job of identifying what it takes to define superior performance and then how to profile a job and candidates to increase the odds for that level of work performance.
The book also shows leaders how to make sure current employees and jobs are a good fit and stresses the importance of establishing clear expectations and then coaching individuals to achieve their potential for superior performance.
Great, easy read with tons of helpful suggestions and examples.
