A collection of poetry.
Only I Hear.
Only I hear the air kisses and giggles I missed
When I was too busy marking off my checklist
Only I hear the words he might have said
As my father fought for life on his death bed
Only I hear time laughing as it slips away
Adding wrinkles and gray hair into the fray
Only I hear my sorrows as they gather around
Their cries and moans create the saddest sound
Only I hear the moments I threw away like trash
Because I didn't understand or was too rash
Only I hear the things I wished I could redo
I would cherish the time I hurried through
I would stop and listen to my babies coos and cries
I would linger over conversations, hugs and sighs
I would stop and smell the flowers and fresh air
I would accept my failings and loose every care
So the next time I think I'm the only one who hears
I won't be ashamed to expose my heart or show my tears

The cover spoke to me!
The cover spoke to me! This book of poetry touched me in many ways. Regina touches on many subjects with her poetry, from reminding people to stop and smell the roses, to having faith in yourself and the world around you. Believe me she know the world today! Poems on missing those we love, what the heart wants, our soldiers and more. She always makes me think about the words she writes and how it resonates with life, people, places and me. I found this book more serious than others, maybe that's the way I read her words. How would this book make you feel?
Well done!
Being an author and poet myself, I seldom get to sit down and enjoy the work of others. This volume by my fairly long-term Goodreads friend, Regina Puckett is a gem!
I will keep rereading it as I see she loves playing with words as well as rhythm. If there was only one thing I could have wished for, it would be that she would vary the style of the poem was most are written in couplets.
But what is here is very well done!
LOVED this!
What else can I say. MS Pucket uses her pen to paint love lost and self regained. In amongst the bitterness and pain love for her first Knight shines through. But why did he have to be such a S.O.B!!
~~Love/Life/Death and the Future~~
Just an outstanding collection of poetry contained in this short book. Perfect for me in Vermont as we are settling in for a Nor' Easter. The author questions existence of humans, death, falling in love, the brevity of life and forces one to examine old loves, new loves as well as what may be on our horizon.
Some of the ones that I really appreciated are: 'Only I Hear', 'I Hold You', 'Once Again', 'The Bravest Thing I Do' and 'No Matter What'. As one gets older, I do believe we can see the mistakes of our youth and learn from them. And, on that rare occasion realize that perhaps we had 'the love of our life' already!
Lots in this one and am sure any reader will find several that either they have experienced....or wish that they may in the future.
Most highly recommended.
Please note that I borrowed this book using the Kindle Unlimited Program.
Meaningful
A meaningful collection of poems, which deal with many of the problems we can face in life.
My favourite line is; Death doesn't let you pack... so, really, we must see what is most important in life and forget the trappings, as you certainly cannot take it with you.
Nicely done.
