Sharing this book with everyone

We started listening to this book during a drive, but soon realized that we wanted to fully focus and share with a few friends. We had a gathering that night and invited our clan over to the house for drinks and "Unconquerable".

This was so beautifully written and with an outstanding narrator. These are the sort of stories that enrich you, change you. I thought that the Invictus games were a subject of sadness and pity. I was wrong.

Heartwarming & inspiring stories, beautifully told

Thoroughly recommend - a collection of stories of incredible bravery and kindness - the triumph of the human spirit over adversity. Whilst you expect to hear stories of the challenges of lost limbs, other, less visible traumas are given equal weighting. Perhaps my favourite story was Kath the cake lady - showing how compassion comes in many different forms and the power of love to change people's lives.

Truly amazing

This book is fantastic, although it covers terribly upsetting injuries it does it with a lot of empathy. The stories are awe inspiring, and i found it be very inspiring. These service people are unbelievably brave, humble and remain an excellent sense of humour despite the atrocities these brave people have seen.

In fact I have ordered a paper copy of the book so I can highlight passages that resonate with me, and remind me to stop moaning and put things into perspective.

We owe our lives and freedom to the bravery of these service people, I always admired them but having read this book I am even more humbled and in awe of what these people have had to live with, and continue to have to live with these life changes mental and physical problems.

I have recommended this book to many many people.

A very realistic look at an ugly subject.

I requested this book in exchange for my honest review because my family is experiencing a similar situation.

My brother had a port put in but unfortunately it didn't shrink as much as expected so the colostomy surgery is next.

It's hard to watch someone you love be in such incredible pain they don't have any fight left in them.

I'm recommending this book to everyone out there experiencing this hell.

I think listening to this very personal raw account will inspire others like my brother to keep going even when it feels impossible.

This book is one man's heartbreaking journey through the emotional process of fighting cancer and the side effects of treatment.

The narrators performance was poignant in conveying the authors trials and tribulations.

From the compassionate and caring professionals he encounters throughout his treatment to the unsympathetic battles with the health insurance system.

Surviving cancer should not depend on how much money you have in the bank.

Unfortunately for so many it does.

I wish this author a very successful recovery.

I think documenting and sharing his journey is courageous and inspirational.

Cancer is awful.

SO, after downloading this book, it kind of sat in my que for a few days. Even though I really wanted to hear it, having very recently losing a family member to cancer, and thing her battle for over a year and a half, I wasn't sure I was ready. ( she was only 11 when she passed)

I am glad I did. I needed a happy ending with this awful killer. It was weird listening to his ordeal. I could completely understand everything he had to ordeal.

He is a hero in my mind. and I wish him good health always

A Frightening Journey

I thought Lifebowl 2017 was a bittersweet listen. The author Douglas N. Schilling's battle with cancer AND the insurance company was heartwrenching. I don't know how it makes sense that an insurance company would prefer to pay for a procedure rather than medication. It's sad.

Douglas was strong to go through this but thankfully he had someone to help him and the fact that he kept a diary or journal was great. I've actually done that and recommend it. I hope he is doing well now.

Tom Jordan's narration was very well done. He portayed the situation perfectly and his tone reflected that of the feelings.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

An emotive journey in the life of a cancer patient

Lifebowl 2017 was an honest day-to-day accounting of what it is like to receive a cancer diagnosis, struggle through chemotherapy, and eventually come through it all. It showed me how gloriously warm and hospitable individuals who work in the health care industry are, and how challenging it can be to navigate red tape and hurdles of health insurance. It helped me to understand how difficult chemotherapy is and what heros cancer patients all are. Tom Jordan did a wonderful job making you feel every emotion as you progress through the narrative.

Misrepresented

I wanted the actual book and I don't appreciate being baited/switched to a little pamphlet with Megyns picture on the front - just like the book. I thought I ordered the actual book and not a pamphlet describing the book. What a ripoff!!

don't buy it

It's got it all

Sad, informative, funny, uplifting and thought provoking - this book has it all!

Martine is an amazing person but she also shares her success and survival with those around her that got her through this journey.

A great read of how to overcome what life throws at you.

inspiring story, heard it twice, became a huge fan of Martine Wright. It is a must read.

A must-read to remind you that life is yours for the taking, to do with it as you wish, no matter what your obstacles.

Martine was faced with the most horrendous tragedy but she faced it head on and she is thriving. It is at times difficult to listen to, but if she can go through it then we can listen to it. It's not made to shock or hurt, it's honest and clear. A story of survival indeed.

Of those movies, she is perhaps most closely associated with the enigmatic Errol Flynn, another foreign-born actor who was more notorious for his roles off the screen than on it. Before his untimely death, they appeared in several films together and became one of Hollywood's most popular on-screen couples.

Not What I Expected

I, too, was very disappointed in the "book". It is reaIIy not a book but more Like a term paper on her Life. It is weII written and direct in what it teIIs, but in 20 pages, one can only get a taste of the actress we Loved. I think the company should be more specific that this is just a short version of her Life...touching on the highlights.

Disappointing.

Interesting, writing style is fine, but very short. I finished this book in about 35 minutes. I would call it more of a long magazine article. A lot of quotes but no real insight into Olivia's life. Disappointing.

What was I Thinking???

Love Olivia deHaviland. Just very disappointed in myself for not noting the length of the "book". The National Inquirer has more substance to it. Let's all just wait until (sadly) Olivia dies, and her autobiography comes out.

I applaud Charles River Editors the author of this book for writing about a much loved movie star such as Olivia de Havilland with none of the salacious gossipy trash which most other authors use to sell their books about famous people. The only complaint I have: I wish the book had been longer.

Heart Rendering

A very clear and concise account of an American tragedy. I appreciated the factual tone that didn't glorify the violenc.

AWESOME

Informative, messed up, but informative

Iâve heard about the Manson murders all my life but never really knew the first thing about them other than Manson is constantly up for parole and the media tells us he was a mass murderer and cult leader. This book gave me clarity on the issue with aggrandizing a killer.

Nicely written and quite informative.
