    Addictive listening
What did you like best about this story?
It was very hard to take a break from listening to this excellent story. Not only are the intimate scenes hot and fulfilling, but there is actually an exciting, intriguing and mysterious thriller story as well... yes a STORY! I enjoyed it even more because of this. But lets not forget, the sex scenes are everything you could hope for! Because the characters are carefully built up to this point, it is even more of a pay off.
    Skin Crawling
This was a book filled to the brim with suspense; I did not know what to expect next. Jack LeFleur made the characters come to life. I highly recomend this audiobook!
    great narrator
A really good audibook. Excellent book to start the month with!
This book starts of with Detective Matthew Bennett getting a missing child call. After the police has a taken a look around, Matt hears a little girl. He follows her voice and eventually her to discover her body and is quickly placed on administrative leave by his superiors. They also order him to see the department psychologist because they think he is losing it.
See, 15 months ago, Matt lost his work partner of 3 years, who also was his romantic partner. He never took time off to properly grief, so Matt's vision has to be the grief he is feeling. Only, Matt's sister in law and best friend Sheila thinks supernatural things occur and that he shouldn't dismiss what happened to him as crazy business. She takes him to see renowned medium Kiernan Fitzpatrick and the two of them set off to solve the mystery of why the dead girl Abby chose to appear to Matt AND who hurt this little girl. It was definitely off the record as Matt was on leave and the medium is not part of the police department.
The subject was a sad murder, but solving it became a form of catharsis for both Matt and Kiernan. Damage from the past has kept them from truly connecting with others, but their sisters (Shiela and Aidan) were the pillars that kept the guys erect.
I love the way the story was written. even though it wasn't a love story, there was revelation and justice and love in this story. It kept me interested from page one until the end and I felt very satisfied at the conclusion. I would love a sequel to this one!
    All-around Great

    Good and Bad
What made the experience of listening to Caught Running the most enjoyable?
Read the story and enjoyed it. Can't say much about the audio. Was hoping for a better interpretation.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Caught Running?
When Jake took a chance to find out if Branden was gay.
What three words best describe Jeff Gelders voice?
    Boring, drone, monotone
If you could take any character from Caught Running out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Branden, Jake sounds too grumpy for me.
    Any additional comments?
Dreamspinner really needs to find better narrators!
    Narrator ruined a good story
If you could sum up Caught Running in three words, what would they be?
    Working a touchy Subject
What did you like best about this story?
I thought that the premise of the story was extremely good.
What didnt you like about Jeff Gelders performance?
I thought that the narrator was extremely monotoned compared to other stories that I have listed to. Honestly, his reading ruined what could have been a great love story.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
    Life after High School
    Any additional comments?
I thought that the book took a sensitive subject and made it extremely acceptable. I just didn't care for the music and the the cheesy overtone that the narration took. I think that I would have enjoyed this story much more if I had read it instead of listening to it. I just didn't think that the narration did the story justice.
    A favorite
I've read this story on my kindle several times before listening to this audiobook and I've been in love with this story from the beginning. The main characters are very kind and loving, while having a sense of humor and playfulness. I liked the way that the narrator read the characters, and there were only one or two places where I thought I would have read the line differently if I were reading it. Usually I will have far more instances in which I think that I would have read a line differently when I listen to an audiobook. I would recommend this auidobook to anyone who wants to listen to a story about a sweet relationship between two loving, playful, men develop. I would not recommend this audiobook to someone who wants to be surprised by the plot of the book that they are reading.
Guilty Pleasure - Fun Story - NSFW ;)
Would you consider the audio edition of Caught Running to be better than the print version?
Lot's of sex scenes. The story is cute. A little cliché, but hey, better than most gay fiction.
    Fantastic story, good narration
Brandon and Jake were never friends nor really enemies in high school, simply occupants of totally different social spheres.

"Coming home from work to find my boyfriend banging our hairy, married landlord - in our bed - was bad enough. Discovering Jamie had also cleaned out my bank accounts made it officially the worst day of my life. I think I can be forgiven for wanting revenge, even if a few little laws (and possibly Jamie's nose) got bent in the process.
"Fortunately, the law is on my side in the form of my oldest friend, Tony Gervase. I've tried to deny my attraction to the sexy trooper for years. After all, he made it clear long ago that he wasn't interested in me that way. But if the hot encounter in his kitchen is any indication, he is now. At least the day is ending a whole lot better than it began....
"But the morning after, the Jamie situation goes from bad to seriously messed up. The jerk's in more trouble than I could have imagined. And as it turns out, I don't know Tony as well as I thought I did, either."

Funny but I didn't like one of the voices
    **3.5 stars**
I think I would have liked this better on my Kindle and rated it a solid 4 stars instead of 3.5 stars. This was my first audiobook and I'm not completely sold on it. Most of my friends loved this narration. I think the narrator did a great job except for the voice of Tony, which kiiiillllleeeeddd me. He sounded like a constipated Tony Soprano, and I couldn't feel much for him as a character because I hated the voice so much.
This book had many things that I like. It was funny, it was paced well, and it had a lot of action. It confirmed that L.B. Gregg is an author to watch for me. However, I didn't like how the romance part of the book went down. I didn't really get why either of them didn't make a move until now, and I certainly didn't feel the love from them. I wanted more development of their romantic relationship. Also, Mark, who I thought was really funny and endearing, bordered on too-stupid-to-live some of the time. I honestly thought he was going to get his butt killed for most of the story. Silly man.
    Too stupid to live
Tony of Mark and Tony is an intelligent, sweet, hot cop. Mark of Mark and Tony is childish and impulsive and no way these two are a love match. Mark makes so many irresponsible decisions throughout this story from beginning to end that it's impossible to find him attractive. Shannon Gunn is awesome as usual. But skip this one. One stupid protagonist wrecks the whole thing. At least it did for me.
    Not Bad
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I would say that yes, the majority of the time I spent listening to this book was worth it. Why? Because it had a good blend of a strong male who wasn't DOMineering.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
That Mark saved his sorry ex. The least interesting were some of the accents.
How could the performance have been better?
I enjoy accents, just not this one...it was like I enjoyed some of the accent but then there were times when I was just like 'uh no'.
Did Men of Smithfield: Mark and Tony inspire you to do anything?
Reminded me that I need to make sure I KNOW who I am dealing with.
Gobsmacked - In a Good Way
Would you consider the audio edition of Men of Smithfield: Mark and Tony to be better than the print version?
Yes. I read this story a couple of years ago when it was entitled "Gobsmacked".

    Hard to put it down
Where does Nexus rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I am a big fan of Mary Clames. This book was a great addition. I really like Joe's character.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Nexus?
When they got ready to go to the club.
Have you listened to any of Andrew Schwartzs other performances before? How does this one compare?
I am not sure this narrator is actually andrew schwartz. I think it was Paul Morri and he was great!!! Much more controlled than the other narrator. And he did the voices GREAT so it was much easier to follow.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
    The reconciliation.
    Any additional comments?
This book was well done. It gave a lot more information about the characters. I especially liked how the stories all fit into each other. Well done, nothing more I can say but well done.by the way, the review before this, I almost didn't get it because of that review but then I liked all the others in the series so I did. I'm not sure what that person's problem is, but I am glad I didn't listen to it. Besides, how about saying 'what' was wrong with the book instead of 'i hate this', etc. also, the narrator is new, and I kinda like him better than the other one. sorry...
    I Love Audible!
If you could sum up Nexus in three words, what would they be?
    A Great Story
What was one of the most memorable moments of Nexus?
One of the most memorable moments was the club scene and fight with all the Warders and Marcus saving his brothers.
    Which scene was your favorite?
I have several, but if I have to choose one I guess I would say the airport scene when Marcus first arrives and meets up with Joe and his family. The family dynamic was wonderful.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I would have to choose the scene where all his brothers arrive to see Marcus after he was gone for over a year and they express their love to him.
    Any additional comments?
I love Mary Calmes writing. She has a way with words. You really know her characters and she makes you invest in them and fight for them and love them.
    Great series
I have listened to this whole series and also read the books and enjoyed them immensely. The only part of the narration I do not enjoy is the music or electronic sounds at the beginning of the chapters as it is jarring. However, that is no reason to miss this excellent series. Well worth your time and a credit.
One of the best in this series - LOVE JOE!
This is book 3 of the Warder Series, so by now you know that each town has Warders who protect the city from demons and things that go bump in the night.

    Publisher's Summary:
One dark night, a professor's wife is found drowned in an icy river, and rumors of murder threaten the safe haven of Atherton. Within days, Randall's illicit affair with the professor is about to be revealed in the local press.
Then, an old mystery emerges from the shadows - the discovery of a co-ed's corpse in a frozen creek 20 years before makes these accidents of the past and the present look a little too closely connected.
Gradually, the three friends find themselves snared in a web of lies, a web spun long before their days at Atherton. Snowbound on the university campus, they are unwitting captives of a malevolent force that drives them inexorably toward the "snow garden" of the title - a place of nightmares that is all too real, and all too near.
    Critic Reviews:
"In his second novel, the author, who is the son of novelist Anne Rice and poet Stan Rice, expertly builds suspense." (Booklist)
"The Snow Garden offers finely nuanced character studies as its pages whiz by to its chilling conclusion." (The Advocate)
"Daniels's low-key, clear voice electrifies the angst of the youngsters and increases the mood of foreboding and menace created by Rice." (AudioFile)

    left me I tears
rarely am I both horrified and moved by a book in this way. Christopher Rice manages to do both within a few pages evoking a hopeful longing usually reserved for lost friends and the missed potential futures we might have shared . He evokes the awkward transition and escape from an unsettled hometown high school experience into a new independent college life for two freshmen battered and scared by events that lead them to flee from family and friends and move across country to find themselves at a prestigious university Rice skillfully spins a tail of the social. political , and emotional pitfalls that touch his charecters in profound ways. one of my favorite thriller/mysteries from the dawn of the 21st century it is cinematic in its description of events and emotions . .
Murder, Mystery and Mayhem at it's best!
Where does The Snow Garden rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Top 10! Great storyline and characters with a mystery at the edge you won't figure out until the end.
What other book might you compare The Snow Garden to and why?
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Both are very suspenseful and intriguing.
What does James Daniels bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I haven't read the book so I can only speak to the audible version, but I will say I loved how he was able to convey the story and the characters well.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

What if you went to a school where it was actually all right to be who you really are? That's the enchanting place David Levithan has created in his highly acclaimed first novel. But even if the gay kids and the straight kids all get along just fine, even if it's all right for the quarterback to be a cross dresser named Infinite Darlene and the cheerleaders to ride Harleys into the pep rally, the road to true love is still a strange and winding path, as Paul discovers when he meets the boy of his dreams. Charming, funny, delightful, and utterly heartwarming, this YA novel speaks with clarity and depth about our need to love and be loved.

"In its blithe acceptance and celebration of human differences, this is arguably the most important gay novel since Nancy Garden's Annie on My Mind." (Booklist)
"Levithan's prophecy of a hate-free world in which everyone loves without persecution makes this a provocative and important read for all young adults, gay or straight." (School Library Journal)
    Members Reviews:
    Kudos to Full Cast Audio
The first time I read David Levithan's "Boy Meets Boy," I was immediately drawn in by his stealthful command of language and how effortlessly he gave the voices of his characters meter and life.
Like many people who fear seeing a favorite book turned into a movie, I approached this recording with some hesitation. It's one thing for a narrator to simply read a book. It's another for actors to take on the roles of the characters. How would this match up with how I heard the characters in my head?
I was IN NO WAY disappointed. The performers did a remarkable job of capturing the nuances of the characters (or, at least how I had imagined them). I also like the interspersal of music which seemed so organic to the material.
This production is well worth a listen and I'll certainly be looking for other Full Cast Audio books in the future.
    A wonderful and touching book
Boy Meets Boy is a sweet, funny and moving story set in the Sophmore year of the protagonist, Paul. Paul likes Noah and Noah likes Paul, but everything conspires to try and keep the two apart.
David Levithan has written a story that manages, in the most pleasing way to paint a picture of the world as it should be.
The recording on Audible is a "full cast" production with different actors for each character; the recoding is extremely well done and engaging.
This is a wonderful book that will appeal to both young and old. I loved and I highly recommend it.
    A decent Vacation Read
As a 44 y/o gay man, I found this a pleasant, if somewhat juvenile fantasy. I guess if I were still a 15 y/o high school student, this might be instrumental to my escapism. In the 70's, when I was there, of course there was no such thing. If you're still trapped in Rural American and desperate for anything that's out there, this certainly fits the bill.
I bought it for the same reason that I buy my kids overpriced candy bars to send the Band to wherever -- it supports a good cause (in this case, gay fiction), and I want to see more of it especially on Audible.
It's a pleasant book to listen to, a "vacation read" that you can occasionally doze off during without missing much of the plot (at least, not so much that you're lost 20 minutes later).

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book and this series!
Would you listen to Criss Cross again? Why?
YES. This is one of my top favorite books in this series. In fact, it probably IS my favorite in the series and the narrator does a super fantastic job with all the voices of the cast. LOVE IT. I can't say that enough.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Crash. In this particular book, Crash gets introduced and I love his voice, and his personality. Of course, Vic will always be my top favorite character in the series because I love his voice, and his personality. Some of his inner thoughts are things I can easily relate to. LOVE Vic.
What about Gomez Pughs performance did you like?
He does a fantastic job with everyone's voices. Even Jackie the dead black prostitute ghost. He seemed to subtly alter Jacob's voice in this book and I did like it better than in the first book. He sounded less like a radio DJ I used to listen to a lot. :-)
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
YES and NO. I wanted to listen to everything because I love this story. Yet, I wanted to make it last as much as possible. I was very sad when I got to the end and there was no more! This is one of my top, all time, favorite series, so yeah.
    Any additional comments?
    Series/Standalone: book 2
Genre/sub-genre: paranormal with a side of romance
    Book Format: audio
    HEA/HFN: YES
    Relatable characters: Hell YES
    Abuse/Rape: no
    Violence: sorta
    Ratio of sex/plot: equal
    Well written/editor needed: well written
Would I re-read?: YES, YES, YES!!!
Personal thoughts: I loved this story. This one is my favorite in the series so far. The narrator does a fantastic job with ALL the voices and the writing is superb. Couldn't ask for something better. Though more would always be nice. :-)
Spot-on reading of a favorite series
    Any additional comments?
This was a wonderful reading of Criss Cross, book 2 in Jordan Castillo Price's Psycop series. Gomez Pugh has really hit his stride here, and is a pleasure to listen to. Jacob's voice is perfect now (very toppy), but the way we hear Vic's thought process in this narration it's clearer how they are equal partners. That last love scene it one of the best read and hottest I've heard. Pugh also does a great job with Roger Burke's Stepford Husband obsequiousness. Victor is a nicer guy than he can admit to himself and that doesn't always work to his advantage. The side characters are fully drawn, also well read, and worth getting to know better. This is a series I've re-read a few times.

5 stars = I freaking LOVED this book!!!
I received a free copy of this audiobook to listen to and review for Wicked Reads.
I adored Safe in His Arms. Although its not the first of Kayes books Ive enjoyed, I didnt realize that she was the same author who wrote The Blinding Light, at least not until I started writing my review. But now that I know, I cant say that Im surprised that I enjoyed Safe in His Arms. I found the authors writing to be fluid, moving the story along with just the right amount of information provided, while withholding key pieces of info so that they could be dropped like little bombs in the relationship in a realistic manner by that I mean that neither Casey nor Taylor are very secure in what they are to one another, so theyre both hesitant to unload all their baggage for the other to see because theyre afraid of sending the other man running.
While the book starts off with a bang (or should I say a blow?), Caseys need to feel safe and protected quickly propels what could have been a one-night-stand into just a bit more. Casey is needy without being clingy, or maybe I should say smothering. Despite the abuse Casey suffered as a teen at the hands of his father, he is drawn to large men, men big enough to protect him, bears and while this physical type could also do him harm, he trusts his instincts when it comes to Lon, feeling quite literally, safe in his arms. As for Lon, he tends to avoid twinks because they often want him to be their daddy while spanking and dominating them, none of which appeals to Lon. Contrary to his intimidating appearance, Lon is a nurturer and something in Casey calls to him, making him overlook Caseys twink appearance and their age difference to give him a chance a decision that benefits both men more than either would have ever anticipated. Caseys need to feel safe and protected complements Lons natural caregiver and protector instincts wonderfully and their sexual chemistry is intense, especially once Lon accompanies Casey to one of his therapy sessions and Caseys therapist is able to give Lon the reassurance and guidance he needed. In addition to the ghosts from both Lon and Caseys pasts that they must deal with, Mother Nature decides to make an appearance, adding a realistic element that had me worried (even as I knew I really didnt need to worry).

'Piercing the shadows of the naked stage was a single shaft of rosy limelight, and in the centre of this was a girl: the most marvellous girl - I knew it at once! - that I had ever seen.'
A saucy, sensuous and multi-layered historical romance, Tipping the Velvet follows the glittering career of Nan King - oyster girl turned music-hall star turned rent boy turned East End 'tom'.
    Critic Reviews:
"An unstoppable read, a sexy and picaresque romp through the lesbian and queer demi-monde of the roaring Nineties. Imagine Jeanette Winterson on a good day collaborating with Judith Butler to pen a Sapphic Moll Flanders. It's gorgeous" (Independent on Sunday)
"She is an extremely confident writer, combining precise, sensuous descriptions with irony and wit. This is a lively, gutsy, highly readable debut" (Observer)

Victorian London brought to exuberant life
1888 the eye-opening journey of an innocent teenage girl from the seaside village of Whitstable to smoky, sleazy, sensuous and bawdy London. Her crush on a performer at the local Music Hall takes her from a family making a traditional living from oysters into an exciting but scary world of the stage. The title of the book gives a clue to one aspect of this cautionary tale its apparently a Victorian term for cunnilingus. This caused a stir when first published in 1998, but the book has many other dimensions and is a thoroughly absorbing view of life and love in the Music Halls of the time. Waters fast-flowing writing, beautifully delivered by Juanita McMahon, brings an unfamiliar, shadowy world to exuberant life. An extraordinary debut novel, very self-assured and great fun.
P.S. I am irritated to see that Audible has labelled this and Waters other titles as Gay and Lesbian. This narrow classification belies the mainstream appeal of a modern classic.
    Beautifully written.
I just love the way Sarah Waters writes. I got this as I really enjoyed the fingersmith and it did not disappoint. The language of the time is so authenticity written it's like stepping back in time. It gives a valuable insight to society in London in that era. I loved hearing about all the old music halls many of which just don't exist now. It was read really nicely by Juanita McMahon too.
    All time favourite!
I could read or listen to this book over and over and never tire, every time it's new to me.
A slow start but in the end a tremendous read
Would you consider the audio edition of Tipping the Velvet to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version
What did you like best about this story?
The story becomes fascinating and is very well told. All the main characters are really well drawn and believable. Their moral dilemmas and choices are ones that ring true. The juxtaposition of a private lesbian life and the late Victorian public life of the city makes for a richness of of narrative and imagery that is constantly engaging. It is sort of like Dickens with a modern touch. However the first few chapters need a bit of persevering with.
Have you listened to any of Juanita McMahons other performances? How does this one compare?
I haven't listened to any others.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
For me the story provoked quite a range of feelings and thoughts.

Good enough for a second reading
This is my second time reading Whitewater Rendezvous, a few months after reading it the first time. I love how Kim Baldwin's descriptions of Alaska make you feel like you're actually there. The book is good from start to finish, and of course the love story is phenomenal!
    Disappointment all around
Not a single dialog that made me feel this book was worth reading. I felt like each sentence was taken from another story. Nothing unique or above average. When a writer uses the phrase "her full lips" more than once ,it can't be good.
Brilliant romance with a sprinkle of wilderness adventure
What a lovely romance. Baldwin wrote a splendid story and it was perfectly narrated.
    I would absolute recommend it
    Sound quality is too bad.
Sound quality is too bad. I have a headache when I hear the strong way of speaking of the narrator. Though it is a good novel, I am disappointed.
    Great Story and Romance
Enjoyed listening to the story and Romance develop. I love kayaking, so the story was intriguing.
