Great for kids & adults, educational and entertaining!
Note: Even though this is Book #2 in the series, it works just fine as a stand alone.
This is a fun collection of scary stories suitable for kids and adults. While not all the stories end with a happy ending, thereâs no gore but there is implied death. As an adult, I quite enjoyed this audiobook. The kids are all adventurous so itâs no surprise that their worlds collide with the unusual, creepy, supernatural, and scary.
Several of the tales feature monsters or unusual things that are part of Floridaâs mythology. The skunk ape story was one of my favorites as three campers find out the reason for itâs stink. Then thereâs the infamous Fountain of Youth! Chilling story! Plus several stories have aquatic creepy crawlies. I will never look at sand dollars the same way again! Toss in the Bermuda Triangle, pirates, and closet monsters, then you have a right scary campfire party!
From the classic monsters, like vampires, to an innocent robot down on his energy, this collection of tales has something to please everyone. My three favorite stories were The Pirate and the Prism, The Sarasota Slime, and The Witching Hour. Each one of these had more than one surprise for me or gave me a chuckle. I especially liked The Witching Hour. I will think twice about entering my closet late at night! All told, 5/5 stars.

The Narration: Neil Holmes did a great job with this collection of short tales. All his character voices were distinct and his female voices were feminine. I liked his gruff voice for an elderly grandpa and his accented vampire voice for a certain polite party host. He does a great job in sounding like a panicked tween too! 5/5 stars.
Entertaining and full of great vocabulary!
My daughter and I were lucky enough to meet one of the authors (Charles Clasman) at a local fair - he was so fantastic and she will always remember meeting her first author. The book is entertaining and full of wonderful vocabulary. My daughter reads at about a 4th grade level and there was a good amount of challenge for her. Loved it!
Oh, the Horror!
Wow, what a collection of bone chilling tales. I read them to my grandson (11 year old), and he can't wait to head to Florida this summer with us and explore some of the creepy locations. Mystery Underground series make me think, 'Watch out Goosebumps there's a new terror in town!'
It is good but not all stories are scary
Mystery underground frightning Florida is relativity good, but only one story is scary some are not at all there should be more horror into the stories
