When will I learn to not buy language stuff from Audible? This book assumes that you'll have the printed guidebook that comes with this title on hand for review. Of course, you don't get access to this guidebook when you download the book. Nor can you download it anywhere. Not recommended.

Make sure to give it some time.

This audio is easier to follow if you have a writen guide as well, just to help identify where one word ends and another begins. The Czech language is very difficult to learn, so give it some time and patience.

Generally worthless

You get what you pay for, and for $2.95, I shouldn't have expected much. The audio recording claims that "experts" chose 2001 of the most common words in Nepali to help increase your vocabulary. There was a section on women's make-up and accessories, most of which are the same words in English. There was a section on the months of the Western (Gregorian) calendar, which are also the same words as they are in English. There was even a section on Australian animals, which is ridiculous beyond belief. How could "kangaroo" and "koala bear" be among the most common words in Nepali? They don't even have those animals in Nepal and Nepali just uses the English words for them anyway. Some of the transliterations are incorrect -- for example, the booklet transliterates "I like" as malai manaparchha instead of malai manparchha. You have to use the PDF and audio booklet together, which is an effective format, but also limiting because you cannot listen to it on a long car ride or every day on the way to work since the audio is only Nepali words and not English translations. But, for $2.95, you'll learn some basic words and hear some pronunciations, which is helpful.

What would have made Michel Thomas Beginner Russian, Lesson 2 better?

I am a great fan of Michel Thomas language courses, so the problem is not the content. However, since language courses are all available on CD it is far better value to buy the CD's load into itunes and then resell the CDs on ebay.

decent book with a little setback

If you know anything about the Russian language you know that where you place the emphasis on a word means the difference between being understood or not. I was under the impression when I purchased this book that this was an audio book-- and much to my dismay after I downloaded it I realized that the authors ask you to go to get a membership to another website for the audio component. Aside from that obvious inconvenience the words and phrases are great for beginners that are looking to be able to immediately use their Russian vocabulary to correspond with Russians.

Amazon Misrepresentation

This is not an audio book as advertised you cannot listen and read in sync on one device. Amazon does not tell you that the audio is not yet available in an audio book format. Chatting with the Audible representative who read what I read indicated that he too was confused because this book is clearly not an audio book. As far as the material and presentation I cannot give it a rating because it is not a true learning tool as advertised. The English language being used appears as a marketing ploy and totally disregards customer satisfaction or loyalty. When a company gets so large its a numbers game not quality or customer satisfaction.

RUSSIAN FONT DOES NOT SHOW ON KINDLE SCREENS

It's difficult to be more specific. The Russian font does not show on the kindle screen except as little boxes with "?" within for each russian letter. I have not discovered how to correct this "yet". Difficult to evaluate the product so far.
