    Author: Instaread
    Narrator: Susan Murphy
    Format: Unabridged
    Length: 24 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 08-10-16
    Publisher: Instaread
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 4 votes
    Genres: Business, Commerce & Economy
    Publisher's Summary:
Rana Foroohar's Makers and Takers: The Rise of Finance and the Fall of American Business argues that finance has become an increasingly dominant force in controlling the organization of the US economy. This has weakened American business and created growing inequality.
The argument against the growing power of finance capital is not an argument against capitalism itself. Rather, finance must be reined in so that capitalism can proceed efficiently. Healthy competition is undermined when banks and financial conglomerates trade in commodities, thereby competing with businesses rather than supplying them with capital. Financial industries have access to information and capital that gives them unfair advantages in the market.
Financial firms make profits by manipulating money and debt, rather than by producing goods or providing services.
Please note: This is key takeaways and analysis of the book and NOT the original book.

Simple advice on fixing finance in America

I'm not really a big fan on economics. And there are too many politically-charged books out there trying to fix our social ills, or defend the current status quo. This Instaread summary takes "Makers and Takers" and boils it down into a quick read for laymen. Its simple description of Foroohar's book is combined with 8 highlights that define the argument against unregulated finance. By dissecting "Makers and Takers" into 8 key takeaways, Instaread makes economics and business much easier to understand. I was given a copy of this book to review.
SOME OF THE MODERN INFLUENCES THAT HAVE PERVERTED FORMERLY SUCCESSFUL CAPITALISM
This is an overview of the actual book âMakers & Takers.â Kind of like an abbreviated âCliff's Notesâ for the FULL book. It provides a potential reader enough information regarding the bookâs content to determine if we want to invest the extra money and time to actually buy and read the entire book. This is a very unusual and at the same time "against the flow" of the recent trends in the US Financial Institutions and their impact on 'free markets.' While it is not necessarily a 'defense' of Capitalism ... it does show us how powerful financial influences do factually corrupt the original American system that formerly made us the "Greatest Nation in History." At .99 cents, this summary is a good value, which is one of the reasons I have personally found âInstareadâ to be a useful service.
For me this was useful to consider whether I wanted to read the book
The book was interesting. For me this was useful to consider whether I wanted to read the book. In this case probably not.

    outdated
compilation from what is on the web, outdated. books title Does not align with it's content.
    very interesting read.
I like the well balanced arguments. The problem with youtube and most of the browsing I've been doing is that the cases for or against are usually quite one sided. This was a refreshing change.
does not work as an audiobook
does not go in to detail so if you're new to blockchain this is not recommended, explanations about actions hard to understand without pictures which seems to be featured in the hard copy.

    FinTech
    Any additional comments?
I was able to pick up some pointers although not that many. Thanks to the narrator for a free review copy.
    poor narration
narration was very poor. childlike repetition. not what I expected based on the synopsis of the book.
    Mostly unlistenable noise; slight info
Anyone beyond the most primitive, remedial level in business, finance and tech will find this an ordeal. The narrator is not only not ready for prime time, he's not ready for a rustic hoe-down. I'm sure he means well, but .... I think it is he (perhaps sometimes the author, himself no Nobel candidate) who makes simple English errors at the rate of about one every few sentences, making this laborious to listen to, and glean content from. I can barely get the content amidst this sloppy writing and incompetent delivery. Sorry guys, this is slapdash and it sucks. Oh, and for those who haven't delved in this area, there are a few brief descriptions of products that are useful, mixed with a sort of fourth-rate economics banter that is cartoonish.

    Publisher: Macat International Limited.
Ratings: 3 of 5 out of 1 votes
    Genres: Business, Commerce & Economy
    Publisher's Summary:
Milton Friedman's 1968 paper "The Role of Monetary Policy" changed the course of economic theory. In just 17 pages, Friedman outlined an effective government monetary policy designed to achieve the goals of broader economic strategy, namely "high employment, stable prices, and rapid growth."
Friedman did not just demonstrate that monetary policy plays a vital role in broader economic stability. He also argued that economists got their monetary policy wrong in the 1950s and 1960s by misunderstanding the relationship between inflation and unemployment. In Friedman's view, previous generations of economists had no justification for believing that governments could permanently decrease unemployment by allowing inflation - and vice versa. Friedman's most original contribution was to propose that this relationship between unemployment and inflation only worked in the short term.
The Economist magazine described Milton Friedman as "the most influential economist of the second half of the 20th century ... possibly of all of it." And "The Role of Monetary Policy" remains highly influential.

The Third Wave relates AOL co-founder and former CEO Steve Case's reflections on his career and the future of the technology industry in America. Part memoir, part analysis of the industry, The Third Wave is also a cautionary tale to would-be entrepreneurs who believe the culture of solo founders and tech disruption will always be valued in the future. The book is named for futurist Alvin Toffler's 1980 text The Third Wave. In Toffler's text, all of humanity's past, present, and future can be divided into three waves.
In Case's Third Wave, the history of the Internet is likewise broken into three waves. In the first wave, entrepreneurs such as those at AOL had to build the infrastructure of a consumer-facing Internet from the ground up.
Please note: This is analysis and key takeaways of the book and not the original book.

Excellent summary! Required reading for every entrepreneur
This is a Summary and Analysis about "The Third Wave: An Entrepreneur's Vision of the Future," by Steve Case, a part memoir, part manifesto, and part playbook for the future. This is an indispensable book for understanding the history of the Internet and preparing for what's next. I believe "The Third Wave" is required reading for every entrepreneur.
This summary book provides the reader information on the Overview of the book, Important People, Key Takeaways, Analysis of Key Takeaways. This is a good quick read specially for those who don't want to dive in straight into reading all 240 pages of the original book. It will help you with your decision making whether or not to purchase the original book. This is an excellent summary to say the least.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review.
    How tech will evolve
"The Third Wave" relates AOL co-founder and former CEO Steve Case's reflections on his career and the future of the technology industry in America. Part memoir, part analysis of the industry, "The Third Wave" is also a cautionary tale to would-be entrepreneurs who believe the culture of solo founders and tech disruption will always be valued in the future. The Third Wave will be about proliferating internet connectivity into every aspect of life, even into existing products and industries that in the past were not considered related to the internet.
This Instaread review kept my attention and was easy to understand. I was able to follow Case's memoir and predictions very easily, in a quick read. Instead of slogging through a much longer book, I was able to pack this into my lunch break. I recommend this review with its summary, analysis, and 8 key takeaways. I was given a copy of this book to review.
    The future of the Internet
In 1980, futurist Alvin Toffler opined that all of mankindâs history and progress could be summarized in three waves. His book, The Third Wave, inspired AOL co-founder Steve Case to look at the technology industry in the same way.
