    Publisher's Summary:
Perfect for fans of Philippa Gregory and Alison Weir, The Boleyn Reckoning heralds the triumphant conclusion of Laura Andersens enthralling trilogy about the Tudor king who never was: the son of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn - Henry IX - who, along with his sisters and those he holds most dear, approaches a dangerous crossroads.

But William Tudor - known as Henry IX - has his own personal battles to attend to. He still burns for Minuette, his longtime friend, but she has married Williams trusted advisor, Dominic, in secret - an act of betrayal that puts both their lives in danger. Princess Elizabeth, concerned over her brothers erratic, vengeful behavior, imperils her own life by assembling a shadow court in an effort to protect England. With war on the horizon, Elizabeth must decide where her duty lies: with her brother or her country. Her choice could forever change the course of history.

    Series is magnificent!
This was a fabulous conclusion to a great series. The story line was suprising at times but very satisfying. I find myself wanting a sequel just concentrating on Elizabeth's reign.
    Amazing story, fantastic end
Great story, love the alternate Tudor ending. Kept you on your toes until the very end. Highly recommend for any Tudor fans.
    Delightful
Great performance, wonderful story. Satisfying ending to a really interesting trilogy.
I enjoyed the last book even more than the others!
    Simply Perfect
First of all let me tell you how great the narrator Simon Vance is. I'm very picky with narrators and from the first minute hearing his voice I knew I found a new favorite. He is quite talented and sucks you in. The story was addicting. I'm obsessed with the Tudor history so easily fell in love with this trilogy. Action, mystery, romance, suspense. Not a stone unturned 5 stars. Excellent book.
Can't wait to read the new series!
I loved the story! Laura Andersen wove a wonder ful alternative to the history of England's most interesting family. Present monarchy excepted.

But England must still contend with those who doubt his legitimacy, both in faraway lands and within his own family. To diffuse tensions and appease the Catholics, William is betrothed to a young princess from France, but still he has eyes for only his childhood friend Minuette, and court tongues are wagging. Even more scandalous - and dangerous, if discovered - is that Minuettes heart and soul belong to Dominic, Williams best friend and trusted advisor. In this irresistible tale, the secrets that everyone keeps are enough to change the course of an empire.

    At the Sharpe Start
The ratings say it all, having read much of Cornwell's work I am a slight latecomer to what is probably his most famous series. It's been well worth waiting for! Even at this relatively early stage of his writing career Cornwell has created a genuinely worthy lead character and a story to match. Even more importantly he has created a nemesis for Sharpe in Sergeant Hakeswell who as a villain genuinely makes your skin crawl. It's a heady mix with a rich background of the Indian subcontinent and a varied cast of characters brought to life by the excellent narration from Rupert Farley.
I got a slight impression that maybe this was just a tad rough round the edges compared to the polish of the author's more recent work but so many of his trademarks such as the strong characters, rich historical detail and fine story-telling are there that it never became a distraction.
In short, an excellent start that will probably have you hungry for more.
Thank goodness for the unabridged version
    Any additional comments?
I read all the Richard Sharpe novels years ago and loved them. I have avoided all the abridged novels but now delighted to find Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe is now here on Audible in unabridged form. I look forward to the next one.

Not bad but not for me.
It was well written and the narrator was amazing. However, it was a bit confusing when it switched between different characters' angles. It was not bad but did not appeal to me personally.
    Not my cup of tea
It's a book about vampires and I would have NEVER picked it up unless I was not set to meet with the author, Lauren Owen later this year in Yorkshire- precisely where the heroes of this book are originally from. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the book more than o could have expected, due to the beautiful, very thoughtful writing. Each word seem to be selected and enjoys standing in its own place: it's not whirl dance of elaborate meaning and twists, but orderly exhibition of words, pleasant in its elegant simplicity. The plot is rather nice; characters were a bit dull, but quite believable.

From the master storyteller, a startling new thriller set amidst the Danish Resistance.
It is June 1941 and Denmark is under German occupation. On the rocky coast of Denmark, two brothers, Harald and Arne Olufsen, starkly different in nature, are straining against the rigid confines imposed by their austere, elderly parents and trying to find their own way in life. Meanwhile, a network of MI6 spies is attempting to decipher an encrypted Luftwaffe radio signal which mentions the new Freya-Gerät - a rudimentary form of German radar equipment.
Arne's relationship with Hermia Mount, an MI6 analyst draws him into underground politics, putting him under surveillance by the Danish security forces - and by one man in particular who has a personal motive to see Arne fall. It is only a matter of time before the brothers' paths converge in a united effort to overcome the Nazis. A disused Hornet Moth biplane is their only means of getting a vital message to the British....

Outstanding World War II spy thriller
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
If you like WWII thrillers, this is the book for you.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Hornet Flight?
Probably the chase by a Danish Nazi policeman of the young hero who must fly to England with important intelligence about the Luftwaffe.
Have you listened to any of Nigel Carringtons other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but I will certainly listen to more of his performances. He's great.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
    It was just plain fun.
    Any additional comments?
Follett's attention to technical, geographic and cultural detail about Denmark in the 1940s makes the book very engaging.
    A gripping story
Although after some of Ken Follett's books this seemed quite a brief novel, it was never the less a gripping story if rather predictable.
I m always astounded by the author's knowledge of the era about which he writes and this book was not exception and it brought to life an occupied country in WW2 which is little talked about these days
    FIrst class story-telling
On the strength of how much I enjoyed, and admired, the author's Century Trilogy I gave this book a try. It's a terrific story that kept me gripped throughout. The characters are so well-drawn I felt I knew them and cared about their fate. The story maintains momentum and never flags, even when there are digressions about such things as how to fly a Hornet Moth aircraft. I was reminded of Frederick Forsyth's novels in the way that a fast-paced and thrilling spy-story story is meshed with precise historical and technical details that makes it all seem authentic.
    Highly recommended.
    The narrator is excellent.
    Really good WW2 novel
Really enjoyed this, shorter than his big sagas but still very good.

    Strange Twists Shows Creativeness
    Any additional comments?
Pope really came up with some strange twists in this one, that took a while to figure out. The strange twists include a crazy captain, and family problems. I enjoy more naval action than this one had, nevertheless, it took a while to figure where it was headed. Crossley does another superb job at narration.

His uncertain loyalties must now decide England's future.
A gripping tale of love, rivalry and violence, Sword Song tells the story of England's making.
    Critic Reviews:
Praise for The Lords of the North:
Beautifully crafted story-telling, complete with splendid set-piece battles and relentless derring-do, so gripping that it rarely stops to catch a breath. It demonstrates once again Cornwell's enormous skill as a historical narrator. He would have graced Alfred's court entertaining the guests with his stories (Daily Mail)
Cornwell takes the spectres of ninth century history and puts flesh back on their bones. Here is Alfred's world restored - impeccably researched and illuminated with the colour and passion of a master storyteller (Justin Pollard, author of Alfred the Great)

Keeble as narrator adds so much to the story
the story was good but Jonathan Keeble as narrator was great adding so much color to the story telling. I hope he knows how appreciated his efforts are. its amazing how much a great narrator can add to a good series.
    Breathtaking
Another great book in a great series. Gripping story, perfectly narrated. Battles described with amazing detail in a lively manner. Highly recommended.
    Awesome Performance and Story
I love the story and how it's told. Jonathan keeble is my favorite version of this.
    The most wonderful series
I have fallen in love with this story line, often listening for 4 or 5 hours at a time. Jonathan Keeble was an inspired and perfect choice. His execution of narration has been the best part of the series for me. If I'm right in thinking the next book won't be him I'll be very very disappointed.
The story it's self was full of battles, in all of their bloody detail.
The way in which the scenery, especially the light of night and day was beautifully described.
In conclusion this is by far my favourite series of books I've ever come across.
    Brilliant
Have thoroughly enjoyed Keeble bringing this book alive and the three previous. I venture forth into book 5 with a new narrator...why oh why do the publishers change narrators..four books in and Keeble embodies the books and now a new narrator for 5&6 and then another change. Normally on seeing different narrators in a series puts me off even starting a series..I am however hooked on the story line... into the fray then!

Portis House emerged from the fog as we approached, showing itself slowly as a long, low shadow.
In 1919 Kitty Weekes - pretty, resourceful, and on the run - falsifies her background to obtain a nursing position at Portis House, a remote hospital for soldiers left shell-shocked by the horrors of the Great War. Hiding the shame of their mental instability in what was once a magnificent private estate, the patients suffer from nervous attacks and tormenting dreams. But something more is going on at Portis House - its plaster is crumbling; its plumbing makes eerie noises; and strange, cold breaths of air waft through the empty rooms. It's known that the former occupants left abruptly, but where did they go? And why do the patients all seem to share the same nightmare, one so horrific that they dare not speak of it?
Kitty finds a dangerous ally in Jack Yates, an inmate who may be a war hero, a madmanor maybe both. But even as Kitty and Jack create a secret, intimate alliance to uncover the truth, disturbing revelations suggest the presence of powerful spectral forces. And when a medical catastrophe leaves them even more isolated, they must battle the menace on their own, caught in the heart of a mystery that could destroy them both.

    excellent neoclassic gothic horror
Where does Silence for the Dead rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I have been given set questions by the audible software which I find offensive and I will ignore. Also, I should warn you that I personally really appreciate what so many refer to as 'spoilers' in book reviews. If I don't know someone, I find it totally useless to be told 'I loved it, you should read it' as a review. I want to have a sense of what is in the book and how it ends. If I'm in a bookstore I will look through the book to see if children are killed off (my personal shiboleth) and to see if it has a decent ending. I don't want to waste my time on books that become duds in the last 50 pages, and I think most blurbs are usually pretty useless.
That said, I just finished listening to Silence for the Dead, and it was exactly the book I was ready for at this point. (I've been wishing that Mary Stewart's gothics would be made into audiobooks.) It is not great literature, but it is a really well written thriller with great characters and real ghosts plus a nice romance. It takes place right after WWI and deals with ex-soldiers in England who are institutionalized with PTSD. The heroine scams her way into a nursing job at the isolated mansion which has been turned into a hospital. The heroine herself has been traumatized in her life, and has had to become quite tough to survive. I really appreciate a heroine who is not upper class, not stupid and not vaporish. The hero is also working class and very real, not the fake so-called alpha that we are so often saddled with these days. The author does a very good job of building the tension, not too fast, not too slow, while setting the scene of the life of the staff and patients in the asylum. There are plenty of plot twists and while anyone who has read this genre will be able to make some pretty good guesses from the clues that are given out along the way, I still found it to be intriguing enough that I read to the end with great satisfaction.
Also, I have to say very good things about the reader, Mary Jane Wells.

    Publisher's Summary:
An authentic, gothic reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson's The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, told from the villain' s perspective, that takes listeners deep into the seedy side of Victorian London and explores the nature of personality and of the subconscious. Mr. Hyde is trapped in Dr. Jekyll' s surgical cabinet, counting the days until he will face capture and be forced to make the ultimate choice about survival. Over the course of four days, he thinks back on what brought him to this moment, and he finally has the chance to tell the story of his brief but marvelous life. In liberating Mr. Hyde from the omniscient perspective of the original story, the author takes us inside the mind Hyde shares with Jekyll as he awakens after many years of dormancy, wide-eyed at being able to explore the world on his own. We feel the potions take effect. We tromp through the streets of London, drink gin in seedy pubs, we visit doll shops and menace the men who take advantage of the women there, and we attempt to rescue lost girls. We feel the strange distance of watching Jekyll' s high-class life through a membrane of consciousness. And then we feel the helplessness of someone being framed for serious crimes. The evidence all points to Hyde. Even if he didn' t intend to commit these crimes, is it possible that they have been perpetrated, without his knowledge, by his own hand?

    A classic reborn
This is, as most reviews have said, a fascinating new take on an old favorite: Jekyll and Hyde from the perspective of a monster who becomes far less monstrous in the telling. He's no angel, either, but neither is Dr. Jekyll. It is a complex and inventive story, crafted in rich Victorian detail--a masterpiece of descriptive writing made better by the narration of John Curless, who seems to savor every word. It's another example of my favorite combination: an excellent book made even better in audio form.
    A Different Perspective
It helps if you've read Robert Louis Stevenson's original story - but if you haven't, don't worry! This audiobook has the original story included, after "Hyde." There's been a trend lately to tell classic horror tales from the monsters' point of view, but this rises above the pack by attempting to give a bit more verisimilitude to the story. It also draws in an historical scandal that occurred in London around that time - I won't spoil it for you except by saying that it wasn't what I expected at all - and that was a pleasant surprise.

Boston Harbor, 1775. James Sparhawk, master and commander in the British Navy, knows trouble when he sees it. The ship he's boarded is carrying ammunition and gold into a country on the knife's edge of war. Sparhawk's duty is clear: Confiscate the cargo, impound the vessel, and seize the crew. But when one of the ship's boys turns out to be a lovely girl with a loaded pistol and dead-shot aim, Sparhawk finds himself held hostage aboard a Rebel privateer.
Sarah Ward never set out to break the law. Before Boston became a powder keg, she was poised to escape the stigma of being a notorious pirate's daughter by marrying Micah Wild, one of Salem's most successful merchants. Then a Patriot mob destroyed her fortune and Wild played her false by marrying her best friend and smuggling a chest of Rebel gold aboard her family's ship.
Now branded a pirate herself, Sarah will do what she must to secure her family's safety and her own future, even if that means taking part in the cat-and-mouse game unfolding in Boston Harbor - the desperate naval fight between British and Rebel forces for the matériel of war - and pitting herself against James Sparhawk, the one man she cannot resist.

    drags horribly
What disappointed you about The Rebel Pirate?
The synopsis promised an exciting ready, but it is terribly boring. I listened for an hour and the entire hour was one scene, that entailed the H and h having a conversation of about 20 words. The rest was all about their thoughts. A romance novelist trying to be Joseph Conrad.
Would you ever listen to anything by Donna Thorland again?
No, she needs to not take herself so seriously. Romance novels should pop with action.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
