Best ADA course out there!

I used to be horrible at programming with ADA, but now I can code pretty good. I loved the way Sam Key explains how ADA works and everything possible with ADA. Thanks Sam, couldn't have learned ADA without you!

A complete waste of time and money

A complete waste of time and money. This guy (Sam Key) wrote a similar book on Prolog and it is also worthless. You can learn more about ADA programming at wikipedia and adahome.com in ten minutes.

Not worth the time required to read it

Highly recommended for ADA beginners and wannabe learners.

I thought of taking up ADA courses to improve my programming skills and knowledge. But I was stuck with some complicated book. Thought of giving this one a try as I got it at a low price. I am more than happy for what I got. Book is well structured for all the beginners out there. Each concept is having an example with some exercises to do as well.

Nicely done

This ADA guide is written very efficiently and was a breeze for me to get the information I needed out of. I was having a minor technical problem and was able to solve it after skimming through this book for the last two hours. It can be hard to find a well written programming book but this was just what I needed.

Helps!

Already had one, had the issues with that one, like having to have a dual band router, etc. I bought this to help me understand the potential. It made it easy to get a second one going.

STAY AWAY

When I first opened this book I thought it was a joke, or someone's middle school project. It is poorly written, poorly organized, and utterly useless. Does not have one iota of information about how to use or take advantage of a chromecast. Bought b/c it was one of those "buy these items together for $xx.xx", so I took the bait. STAY AWAY.

Don't waste your money...

My wife and I had the same reaction after reading thru this guide: this had to be written by a foreigner who had a poor sense of how to structure and explain things to an American audience. Sometimes it reads too simplistically; sometimes it glosses over steps that require more in-depth explanations. I had already set installed and connected the device before I read thru the guide. It didn't add any useful information for me.

chromecast not right for me... how about you?

Huge waste of money for me. I guess my area or cable wi-fi is not compatible. Never used my chromecast at all. Interested in buying it, email me [email protected] $25.00 and I'll include this book.

Don't!!

Downloaded this on my Kindle Fire HD primarily to help with my new Kindle Paperwhite. It is poorly written in my view and is much briefer than I expected. Chapter 3- A Simple Guide for Using the Kindle Paperwhite is a whole 3 pages long. A perfect example of confusing language "while using your computer, go to the root folder and create a folder with the name "pictures". Within it create a new sub-folder. Then put jpegs in it, unplug and click Alt-Z to rescan." WTF? Chapter 3 is replete with these type of "simple tips". Chapter 2 is also a whopping 3 pages long and purports to tell you all you need to know about the Kindle Paperwhite. Suffice it to say that "how to use it" only begins on page 2 of 3 and, believe it or not, tells you that "... is pretty easy especially due to the fact that it's(sp) easy to use features are easy to understand." Are you kidding me, I paid $.99 for this? Among other great tidbits you learn is that you can actually read using only one hand. Wow, thanks for that! Oh, it also tells you how to adjust the lightbulb. At least I didn't waste my monthly free one "borrow a book" feature with my Amazon Prime or I would have been really mad.

Some Information

This is definitely a good book to download, having purchased a Kindle Fire. However, I wish it were more informative for people who are not savvy to this technology. I am a senior citizen and can use all the help I can get. This book is limited. The best help I have received for my Kindle has been from the comments regarding each app. I have learned to rely on them for the best information!

This book compares the Kindle Paperwhite, The Kindle Fire HD and The Kindle Fire HD 8.9. It has easy, user friendly tips and information on each device. I like the Chapter on the top apps you can download. This book is good for anyone who bought a Kindle or is planning on purchasing one and wants to do some comparative shopping.

I just got a kindle paperwhite to read texts for work. It is easy to use, and I admit I get a little baffled by user manuals. So, on recommendation from a friend, I picked up this book.

It's very helpful. It covers multiple kindle products, and the instructions are clear, short, and written in a language I can easily understand.

I knew that the paperwhite could do a whole lot of different things, and I was able to walk through them one-by-one with the book and explore them all.

A glimpse of Internet history...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It's hard to imagine life without Internet memes, even for people who have lived in decades before they were around. For this and similar reasons, reading Bill Meek's single, Bert Is Evil, feels surreal. Exploring one of the first memes to spread around the Internet, the book recalls those far-off days when something amusing on the Internet to pass around to all our friends felt novel and unexpected.

Given the ubiquity of memes like Condescending Wonka, Philosoraptor, and Misunderstood Spider, this look back into the recent past feels more extreme of a retrospection than it should as if we are talking not about something that happened in the late '90s, but rather something out of your grandfather's reminiscences of walking uphill to school both ways. The days before color television. The eight track. An odd effect, making me feel old as well as inspiring thoughts about the contracting and dilation of time.

In his book, Meeks carves out the story of a proto web developer by the name of Dino Ignacio, who created Bert is Evil in that early era of the bare-bones Internet which Meeks likes to call the Old Wide Web. Ignacio, we learn, derived the meme's humor from his linking of the well-known Muppet to dark and shadowy figures Lee Harvey Oswald, Osama Bin Laden, and even Hitler.

Reading this account, I realized that I had indeed browsed this site or perhaps one of its many mirrors, the reasons for which Meeks chronicles at length and that its 'shopped images indeed lingered somewhere in the ephemera of my memory. It made me think as well of other similar early memes, my favorite of which was Mr. T vs Everything, a site which 'shopped (with much less skill than Ignacio) images of the A-Team hero into poorly-executed webcomics, often ending with T throwing his foes into outer space.

These sites, as well as many others, provided troves of amusement at a certain point of my life; and yet all of them find their provenance in the work of Ignacio. A shadowy figure himself, Ignacio is brought to life by Meek's story, which takes the form of interviews with the man himself, and analysis and commentary by Meeks.

Das erste Kapitel von Hot Zone ist das Schrecklichste, was ich je gelesen habe. Und dann wird es von Kapitel zu Kapitel immer noch schlimmer: Was für ein unglaubliches Buch!

The Hot Zone tells the history of ebola and what we know about it. Ebola is a very nasty hemmoragic fever and so, as many people point out, Preston resorts to sensationalism in his descriptions of blood being vomited, sprayed on walls and coming out of victims in every way possible. One strain of the disease, Ebola Zaire, kills 90% of those infected and that is with medical treatment. The book is freaky because the virus is freaky.

The story starts in the late 70's with the first ebola victim, a british man living in north Africa. Preston traces this outbreak of the disease and subsequent cases and chronicles the search for the source of ebola and research on it. The title, The Hot Zone, is a term used to describe areas where research on "hot", or really really bad in layman's terms, viruses are studied. He describes research on site and at the CDC and shows the extent to which the hot zone is kept separate from the rest of the world.

One of the most disturbing events described in the book is the discovery of Ebola Reston in Reston Virginia. This strain of ebola was killing off monkeys in a research facility and because of the mysterious symptoms tissue samples were sent to the CDC. The sample were found to contain ebola. Apparently the strain carried by these monkeys had little effect on people, but an animal handler who had had a cold had antibodies to Ebola Zaire.
