Amazing Fantasy Adventure For All Ages
Would you listen to Red Glen One Volume again? Why?
Yes there are enough stories in this one volume to keep a listener engaged and entertained for many times. It is a great set of stories complied into one volume.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Red Glen One Volume?
It is very hard to pick just one memorable moment from all the great stories in this set. I would have to say the battle with cats and mice at colony of Greening was most likely my favorite though. The detail and all the different characters involved was really great
Which character as performed by William L. Sturdevant was your favorite?
My favorite character was Chance the great grandson of Montgomery Worthington.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed several times and smiled and wanted to cheer on the mice it was a nice set of great family tales.

    Publisher's Summary:
It has been several months since veteran Green Beret Jim Slate escaped captivity at the hands of New Jersey mob boss, Michael Monzo. Employing a mercenary wizard, Monzo had transformed Slate into a werewolf with the intentions of using him as his own personal "hitwolf". But Slate managed to foil Monzo and fled to the New Jersey wilderness known as the Barrens. There he rendezvoused with three of his former army pals and related his harrowing experiences. Knowing the mob will never stop hunting Slate, the team heads for the swamps of Chambliss, Georgia to hide out. At their request, Slate turns Swede and Haines into werewolves while the third, Singer, opts to remain the solo "normal" one of the squad. Things turn worse when, through some Washington contacts, Slate learns he was betrayed by his former C.I.A. liaisons. Now they have added their considerable resources to the task of capturing him and the others. Determined to use their new-found abilities only to defend themselves against their enemies, Slate walks a delicate tightrope hoping the beasts he and his mates carry in their veins can be controlled. If not, then all hell will break loose and even the blood of the innocent will flow.

    A Fun Diversion
This book, based in the Vietnam War era, pulls us into the slimy underworld of the New Jersey mafia and the ongoing war between two of the mob families, run by Michael Monzo and Martin "Mardi Gras" Stubbs, respectively. But that's not all - Stubbs has gotten hold of a werewolf that he uses to kill his enemies. His werewolf bites one of Monzo's men, making him a werewolf too.
Enter John Slate, former mercenary and current construction worker, who happens to be in the same dive bar with Monzo and Pegg, the wizard who controls werewolves with an amulet. A biker gang comes in and starts a fight, and Monzo is so impressed with Slate's fighting skills that he kidnaps him and turns him into a werewolf to add to his arsenal.
The mob wars escalate with the addition of werewolves, needless to say. Slate is a little too smart to be held captive for long though.
Although this is not the type of book I would normally pick up, I can truly say that I read it from cover to cover in practically one sitting. There is a lot of gory violence, but since it is fantasy it didn't really bother me as it might in another genre. The characters are interesting and well-developed, and the story moves along at a rapid pace with a cool ending. This book will not disappoint!
    Smart and Fun
Very much enjoyed this read. It was fun and very well written. Will be recommending this. Thank you to the author for a unique story!
    Moonrise... Manhunt... Hitwolf...
Thinking back, I hesitated over giving 5 stars or 4 stars but I lean more toward having loved the book than just liked it. Intense and fast paced and quite interesting, great cultural wisecracks. Spartan writing to the point of one and two word sentences, but well used and placed. The only thing that I wasn't too keen on is a few times it seemed like there were a few too many characters and I became confused and had to go back a page or two and reread.
Slate reminded me of Jack Reacher, only I liked Slate better, another reason to go with five stars. Reacher got on my nerves pretty quickly as he seemed too prone to gratuitous violence just for the shock value.

Don't really know how guage this.
It's obvious that the author put some effort in the editing and proof-reading of this. However, with only 28 pages to go by it's rather apparent that this is another novella being divided up into a 'series'. Might I suggest labeling this as a prequel or fleshing it out more to justify a reader's time.
Had to read it twice to finally understand it. Good read the first time around â AMAZINGGG the second time.
Iâll put a general review first, and then one with spoilers.
Really fantastic read. Never really read a female character like Dina. Sheâs arrogant and funny, but also really smart. The premise is really interesting: Dina is a witch whoâs known to be very talented, but she actually doesnât know any magic. Sheâs essentially a con-woman and gets away by making regular tricks seem like magic.
    SPOILERS:
Okay hereâs where the story blew me away. The first time I read it, the ending didnât seem to make any sense. The second time around, I understood it. Dina is the Vermilion Witch, and at the end of the story, sheâs taking the kids to the tower for blood magic, just like the aunt said so.
The story has many parallels: Dina gets blisters from fire crackers and the soldier said when he first saw the Vermilion Witch, she had blisters all over her hand. Dina says she commands âfire and lightningâ with smoke and mirrors: the two signs of the witch are smoke and mirrors. Dina actually tells the frog to move in the first scene â and later on you learn the vermilion witch can speak to animals. Dina says her life is a house of cards that reaches the sky with kings stacked upon queens â the vermilion witch used to kidnap kings and queens and lock them in her tower which touches the sky. There are many, many more, but those are just a few I caught.
In this regard, the best moment is probably when you think Dina is lying to the men in the ritual saying âI killed their parents and am pretending to be their sister to kidnap them.â Itâs essentially double sarcasm â that IS the truth, but as the reader you first think youâre a step ahead by thinking itâs a lie.
    It just ended.
I understand that a book in a serial has to stir up interest so that the reader is encouraged to read the next book. Still, said book should stand on it's own too. This book DID NOT! This book just ENDED. PERIOD. I read the Kindle version and actually found myself going back and forth at the end looking for the rest of it! On the plus side, good characters, good story, and interesting. If you don't mind buying possibly MANY books to get to the end....
So normally I don't like to write reviews because well
So normally I don't like to write reviews because well, fudge 'em that's why. But reading the other reviews left me scratching my head as to what many were saying, seeing as many of the readers kind of missed the whole spiel of the book. Before I get into that however, lets talk about the writing. The writing is phenomenal. Like, think about the writing style for a second here.

    What a ride!
This was an intense story which ended well with some wiggle room to continue the story. It was a clean story and lovers of subtle sci-fi (no space ships, but portals and inter dimensional travel) will enjoy this book.
I received this book free from one of the book subscription emails.
    What a read!
Beginning with the first sentence, the book pulls you into the action. The twists and turns of the plot make it akin to riding a roller coaster. The author masterfully weaves the actions and interactions between the multiple dimensions into a marvelous tapestry of delicious enjoyment. The characters are multidimensional in both the literal and figurative sense. The magical elements are prominent but not excessive. The book provides and excellent, albeit temporary, escape from mundane reality.
    I highly recommend this book.
    Great Read
Wow the intense action and magic and love all mixed up in this thriller a must read for everyone .. you will enjoy
Nice blend of genres in this clean read
The idea of alternate dimensions, parallel universes, shapeshifting bodyguards, and the like are not new concepts, especially in the realm of science fiction. However, what is new is the idea of all of those disparate concepts being present in the same book without any one idea being completely overshadowed by the rest. Christopher Schmitz has done an admirable job of combining ideas from various genres into one tapestry that is an extremely enjoyable adventure. The only reason that I did not rate it higher is because the various threads that go into this book started out a little tangled at the beginning of the novel and it took me about a third of the way through before I was able to get them straightened out enough that I was able to understand the bigger picture. What I think that I liked the most about the book is that, eventually, the worlds blended to the point where it almost ceased to matter which âversionâ of the person was acting. I am definitely interested in seeing if this world has any more meat on the bone for the author and, if not, what other worlds are in his imagination for us to explore.

    Absolutely Spellbinding. I want more!
Would you consider the audio edition of Lusus Naturae to be better than the print version?
I only listen to audio books and this is a good audio book. Good sound quality and well narrated, with Tom Adams bringing each and every character to life in a unique, convincing and, most importantly, consistent way.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Cyprian. She is everything I want to be when I become a blood-thirsty, lustful she-creature from a different dimension that devours her own young. She is like the Kim Kardashian of fantasy because everyone should want to be her, and also because I wish Kim Kardashian would eat her own young and bring an end to a generation of people who are famous for no reason.
Which character as performed by Tom G.H. Adams was your favorite?
The character of the creepy monster collector/seller was the strongest and I feel worth the most praise because it could not have been a) an easy task to come up with that accent in the first place and b) maintain it as consistently as Adams has managed. Kudos for that.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I found myself highly captivated by the story. I love dark fantasy and this story was perfect for me.
    Any additional comments?
Like if Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett had a baby, that baby would be Tom Adams. LOVED this book so much I devoured it, *wipes lips gently with napkin* more please.
The lovechild of H. P. Lovecraft and Neil Gaiman
Charles Renshaw is a washed out aristocrat with a failing fortune, and too much time on his hands. What does he do? He purchases a monster, of course. As you can well imagine, Charles gets more than he bargained for. But not in quite the ways you would have thought.
This was my first experience of Tom Adams' work, and I was pleasantly surprised. The story was crisp, both in its pacing and in its narration. The characters were well-delineated (I loved the monster seller), and the central premise was original and more than clever. I laughed out loud regularly. The plot had me guessing incorrectly often enough to make this a very satisfying read. It's a testament to the author's skill that he squeezed so much content into a two-hour story. Excellent.
I thoroughly enjoyed this recording, and recommend it. I'll be keeping an eye out for more work by this author.

    Can It Work Out
An ARC was given to me for an honest review. They are back home in England. Things are going well and he wants her to have a child. She not sure about that, because of the curse, until she hears that he already has a daughter. Of course situations can never be easy for them. This is a quick read with a cliffhanger. Enjoy I did.
    More!
I can honestly say by the end of this one I wanted more. I just felt there was more to be said. Like I want the towns people to become less mean, she should get revenge on the snobs, the curse could maybe be broken. And maybe she should less wishywashy. All 5 books were on KU so they were free for me. I don't think I buy it though, I think the story had much more potential and the author does too. But at the same time I always wanted to know what would happen next so storyline did keep me interested.

Meanwhile, former journalist Victoria Valois finds herself facing old enemies as she fights to save the electronic ghost of her dead husband, and Merovech, king of the United Kingdoms of Great Britain and France, receives a troubling message from the dead sands of Mars....
    Members Reviews:
a weak way to end the trilogy
i reviewed the other two books, so i'll review this one too. i thought that "hive monkey" was a real improvement over the first book, but unfortunately, this one fails in other ways and is probably the weakest of the three, and a poor finale to the trilogy. if it even is the final book, since there is obviously room for more books in the series.
ack-ack and victoria are still great characters and reading how their lives change was the best part of the book. victoria finally has to let go of her long-dead husband paul, and ack-ack faces his impending mortality in several interesting ways. sadly, characters like merovech and k8 are still not all that interesting, despite how hard the author tries to make k8's personality crisis a focal point for the plot, it seems contrived and solved too easily. merovech is still a pointless character, and i wish he wasn't in the book at all because he really serves no purpose.
the main problem is the plot. it jerks around too much, skipping important details and scenes just to have them explained away later (like when ack-ack goes through the portal after celestine). the book takes place 3 years after "hive monkey" so the early part of the book is just explanation of what happened in those 3 years, but there are lots of unanswered questions. and then there's the completely random inclusion of the subplot with katherine abdulov. honestly, that killed the book for me. randomly introducing a new character like that throws a monkeywrench (haha, monkey joke) into the entire story. the big twist in the novel comes completely out of the blue, and the other characters accept it way too easily. i won't announce a spoiler here, but it's a doozy of a plot twist that seems utterly out of place.
then the book seems to be leading into a huge violent conclusion with ack-ack and his army of monkeys heading to mars to fight celestine's forces, and the book just changes gears and ends in a completely anti-climactic way. the last 20 pages seem like the author intended to write like 200 more pages but the publisher demanded he finish it immediately, so he just threw together a fight scene and said it was done. the baffling katherine abdulov subplot and the abrupt, unsatisfying ending really ruined it for me.
but i'm still giving it 3 stars because i love the characters of ack-ack and victoria, and most of the book is fun and exciting to read. if you liked the first two books, there is a lot to like in this one too.
A Title Character Who Has A Name That Is Hard To Get Out of Your Head!
Our son recommended this series and I was afraid it was going to be something like a cartoon/graphic novel, but I was pleasantly surprised.

the impossible and mysterious become reality....
I love books where the impossible and mysterious become reality
and humans are transported into the unknown or unexplored sans
safety net. No writer creates such scenarios better than Charles.
Foertmeyer. Chinibuck left me gasping for air, my imagination
reeling as the author created reality from the impossible.
Henry Kellogg is a reclusive web designer, living at the edge of
an old growth forest in southern Ohio. Henry enjoys his lonely
existence. His daily routine includes drinking an occasional cup
of special blend coffee, working on the computer, and hiking in
the Shawnee forest. Henry's adventure begins innocently enough,
with a leisurely hike through the forest. This day he hears more
than the chirping of birds and rustlings of small animals. He
hears the moaning of an injured human and discovers a Wauami
Indian in full native regalia. Henry knows the Wauami tribe has
not lived in Ohio since the 1700s, so where did this warrior come
from? The Indian says his name is Keyawa, and that he's dying.
He grips Henry's arm and says, "You are now Chinibuck the
Observer. You must only observe - never interfere. I pass this
on to you, as it was given to me."
What did Keyawa pass on to Henry? Is it gift, curse, or both? And
can a white man fulfill an obligation meant to be passed from
Indian to Indian? Henry struggles with the Chinibuck legacy,
forced into a world of dreams, dreamers, and dream catchers.
He seeks answers while navigating between past and present,
wondering if Chinibuck represents greed or greatness. Will he
honor the legacy, or end up a broken man, trapped in the past?
You'll have to read the book to find out.

I was given this book via audiobook boom for a review. I am sad to say that I did not like it as well as I thought I would from the description. Not to put too finer spin on this book if you like books of this caliber then listen to it. The description is well written.
    Niche book but still good
First of all I received this book for free for a honest review.
I liked the overall story but I don't review book I don't think I'll like. I've read merchant building books before and I enjoy them, and if you enjoy a story about selling and buying then this is a good addition to the genre.
My only gripe of the book was the antagonist just seemed so bland and had no motive other then, I'm a bad guy. But it doesn't take away from the book much.
If you like this type of book it's worth a read.
    Couldn't get past the narration.
Potential, but couldn't get past the narration.
