Overall I did enjoy this little ditty. It was kind of a bait and switch. The star of the show is an A student. She has been an A student since Junior High, High School and now College. So, like most guys I am thinking an inexperienced shy girl. Well, once the A#hole brings out his ruler and she sees the size of said ruler, she gets hornier then him. She demonstrates that she did not spend all her time studying.

Where does Girls Who Bite rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

I tend to listen to alot of Vampire books because they are a favorite of mine . I just got done listening to a long series and thought some short delights might be a nice change . Girls who Bite has a good variety of various vampire scenarios and sensuality . It is nice that it is female oriented as well ....that can be a sexy and welcome change of pace .

What other book might you compare Girls Who Bite to and why?

I have read ( physically read ) the Love in Vein collections and this is sort of like that . This book has a lot more explicit erotica and kind of catches you off guard a little bit with more in your face descriptions and nothing really implied .

Would you listen to another book narrated by Kaylee West?

I may...maybe .I just don't like her specific voice for the narration of these stories . She doesn't have a sexy voice at all and her whimpers, sexy voices sound really childlike and not sultry . Her male voices are kind of horrible as well . There's one where she is supposed to be like Native American and those voices were really hard to listen too . I don't know I would prefer a smoky voice someone who made me more intrigued by these scenarios . She just doesn't have the right tone for these stories :(

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I have liked all the stories and there unique angles to vampirism and lust . I don't have a particular favorite so to speak . I just have a thing for fangs and these ladies definitely have bite :)

If you enjoy lesbian erotica and VAMPIRE stories this book is wonderful. The authors really knew how to BEND their stories around and make them work. Each story was very different than the one before, and very imaginative.

POWER PLAY -- HITS ALL THE SPOTS (AND THEN SOME)

Erotic stories should titillate and stimulate the reader. Power Play stimulates, titillates and much more. It hits all the bases under the BDSM umbrella of domination and submission. This is erotica at its very best! There are 20 extremely well written tales in this anthology and I loved the diversity of the stories.

My absolute favorite in the anthology was "Split" by Shanna Germain. This is hard edged eroticism swaddled in a cloak of Greek Mythology. This twist on the Hades/Persephone story was just plain brilliant!

For fun and quirkiness "Acting Tough" by Landon Dixon is outstanding. I will never view another detective noir story the same again. The dialogue is vintage film noir and hysterical in sections. The author gives the reader a missing person tale with equal parts sexuality and humor. I'm smiling right now as I write this. This story is high camp but still wonderfully true to the genre it emulates.

Another favorite of mine in this anthology is "The Uninitiated Bottom." This is a realistic portrayal of a domme experiencing the other side of the domme/sub equation. "The Best Laid Plans" - Alex Jordaine, "Coated" - Kay Jaybee, "Counting to Ten" - Elizabeth Cage, and Alana James' "No Reservations" a wonderful twist on Hitchcock's "Strangers on a Train") are equally impressive offerings and for me thought provoking. For sensual stories of loving relationships with erotic heat, "Trust Me" by Jade Melisande and "The Next Step" by Jeanette Grey left me smiling.

For lovers of prose with GLBT heart, Angel Propps' "The Initiation of Lily" was an intense glimpse into a subculture of dominant lesbians that I had to read twice. While "Waiting in Vein" by Giselle Renarde was a wonderful reminder that the most important body part for dynamite sex is a controlled and captivated mind. Brava to both authors.

If I said anymore about this anthology, my review would be pages long. I can't emphasize enough - straight, lesbian, m/m, hard edged, quirky, humorous, powerfully thought provoking with sensuous and sizzling sex - this anthology is a great combination of eroticism and storytelling that has something for everyone. Power Play has made my keeper shelf.

One At A Time

....The title describes how many stories I could read at a time. Were they hot? OMG. But beyond that, incredible well written. For all that it may be considered smut, it's on the far side of literature in terms of the quality of writing; These authors more than hold their own and their stories reflect an intimate ability to create a more than evocative mood.

The great knock on all gay lit, no matter what the subject material, has always been that it's just a collection of dirty words describing dirty deeds and, largely, that used to be correct. However, this is now openly sold material, not for all tastes, but increasingly available and readable. These stories have both character and characters. All fiction is just that, fiction but when you add sex as a main feature one risks that this plot element becomes a dominant theme and, often, that's the case.

Like the subject matter or not, this is quality writing done to great effect. If one expects prolonged technical discussions of struts, forks and ape hangers, look elsewhere but if you're up for hard core, brilliantly described doin's on two wheels, buy it and settle down for a great read and ride.

A lot of room for improvement

Would you try another book from Sarah Fawkes and/or Clarissa Knightly?

I have mixed feeling about this book. There were parts I loved but the majority of it really grated on my nerves. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted to buy the sequel however the thought of being subjected to another 8 hrs of poor writing is too much to bear. I felt like I was listening to 50 Shades of Grey and no, that's not a compliment. Along with a completely foolish and ridiculous "story line" (if you can even call it that) Sarah Fawkes' ability to repeat herself incessantly is impressive. Between E.L. and this author I never, EVER want to hear the word murmur again. In fact, I think it should be banned from erotica novels. There is no way two people can murmur that often. I'm also getting tired of the typical, plain, inexperienced, naive heroine whose life is on hold until a rich and powerful man comes along. But not to save her. Inevitably his lifestyle manages to put her in danger. How original...no one's ever done that one before. Fan fiction much?

As for the narrator, Clarissa Knightly, I agree with some of the other reviews stating she sounded a bit old for the part. However I think she still did a bang up job. Her characters were easily identifiable and she put a lot of emotion into it.

Would you ever listen to anything by Sarah Fawkes again?

Not unless I was desperate.

What three words best describe Clarissa Knightlys performance?

Exciting, convincing and satisfying. She made a bad book tolerable.

None of them. If anything there were too few characters.

GREAT PRODUCT

Hot, hot, hot!!

This is a red-hot collection of short stories! My favorites were Helena Settimana's "Highway 69" about a motorcycle chick and her outdoorsman, Sage Vivant's "The Yacht" about three women on vacation with three hunky sailor boys (with a fantastic on-deck scene! You could practically smell the suntan oil), the almost indescent "Tan Lines" by Thomas S. Roche featuring a delicious outdoor escapade, and "In Dependence Day" by Savannah Stephens Smith featuring a really hot dom/sub relationship. All of the stories sizzle. If you can't go on a vacation right now -- get this book instead!

Scorchingly hot erotica!

Don't burn yourself! A rip off

Not much on offer here to warrant five stars, let alone one. As usual, Tyler has put out yet another book of monotonous sex stories that all sound exactly the same. Nowhere near as good as the anthology series which this so blatantly copies.
