Publisher's Summary:
Diverse, dark-humored, and deliciously bite-sized, this compelling collection of 12 short stories by JT Lawrence include:
"Escape" - A story about about a suicidal baby who knows he was born into the wrong life, and has to get creative to correct the mistake, much to his mother's horror.
"The Itch" - An intense, uncontrollable, unexplainable itch lands the protagonist in a mental institution.
"Bridge Gate" - In this poignant and charming short story, a daughter yearns to connect with her absent father through the letters they exchange. She's not put off by his pedantic corrections of her writing, despite the slow reveal that he is less than perfect himself.
"The Unsuspecting Gold-Digger" - A woman gradually poisons her husband so that she doesn't have to break his heart.

Weird little stories, in the best sense!
I love a good short story, where the author manages to convey character and situation in a small miniature. Add in the touch of weird, the unexpected view point and I am hooked.
Some of the stories in this collection do stand out while a couple didn't quite reach me (sorry, if I want to read an argument between a traveler and a resort, I'll just visit my favourite travel forum or local store). Overall, it is a great and well worth the read, specially when you consider that the story I disliked most was several reviewers' favourite.
I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
Great collection of good stories.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author / narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.
I started listening to this book without much expectations. I typically listen to novel sized thrillers. So, this collection of bite sized short stories was good for a change. The different stories present in this collection are all of different kinds and you get to listen to a variety of stories that invoke different response from you. I would recommend listening to the different stories with some gaps between them. I listened to one story each day. That way, I was able to listen, enjoy and think over what I listened to.
I like the way the author starts each of the stories and build the characters. The listener gets drawn into the story slowly and gets mesmerized in it. Each story has something different to offer. Some are better than others, but none are boring.
The narration was great too. It matched the pacing of the story and mood. I would look forward to reading more from this author and listening to other books narrated by Bianca.
A great collection of shorts.
Feels like listening to a season of The Outer Limits. This is the third book I have gone through by JT Lawrence and I am truly a great fan of her writing. Whether in a short or in one of her stories, she is able to get me into the main characters mindset so quickly, it is something I really enjoy about her writing. The shorts cover a multitude of genres and tones, and most of them left me thinking about them later in my day. The narration by Bianca Flanders was good as well, and thought she did a good well getting all of the emotions and thoughts to come through.
Having recently read a few short collections in the last few months, I will say this one is leaps and bounds the most consistently entertaining and interesting.
