Five characteristics of the sluggard’s life which wisdom calls us to labor against in our own lives: The Sluggard is (1) Hinged to His Bed; (2) Happy With Excuses; (3) Hopeless at Completing Things; (4) Hungry for Fulfillment; (5) Haughty in his Self-Assessment.

Definition of Laziness: Selfishly and neglectfully choosing ease over effort.

The God who hears us is…
1. A God Who is Holy (v. 4-6)
2. A God Who is Loving (v. 7-8)
3. A God Who is Just (v. 9-10)
4. A God Who is Kind (v. 11-12)

Application:
• What keeps you from praying? (How does your answer demonstrate that you might have a wrong view of self and/or God?)
• How does the holiness, love, justice, and kindness of God offer comfort in the face of opposing evil? (In the world around you, or in your own heart.)
• How are you doing with taking shelter with God? (Do you believe that with him, and in following his will you are most safe and satisfied?)
• With these four characteristics of God in mind, how should we respond when discussing the “problems of evil” in the world? (Whether with believers or unbelievers.)

With God as our loving King:
• We can pray to God with confidence that he hears us
• There is good reason for us to pray
• God will respond to our prayer
