Dr. Collette House, ACSI Board Member and Superintendent, Aurora Christian Schools: Academic Standards are the Latest Front in the Culture Wars
Dr. Collette House is an accomplished educator who is part of the governing board for the Association of Christian Schools International while serving as the Superintendent of Aurora Christian Schools in Illinois.
Recently, Illinois has become a front in the culture wars as the state's littlest citizens are put in harm's way through the adoption and implementation of new state teaching and learning academic standards. As district schools and university teaching programs work to rid state standards of the "evils" of racism, homophobia, unearned privilege, and Eurocentrism, it would seem that Biblical worldview is also being displaced as part of the "New Enlightenment". As an ACSI board member, school leader, and public education advisory committee member, Dr. Collette House has a front row seat to the whole debacle.
But, her advice to parents may surprise you. Give up the ship? Retreat? Surrender the culture?
