The book "Beyond the Bedroom: Healing For Adult Children of Sex Addicts" can be
How does Sex Addiction affect children? In this video, Dr. Doug Weiss, national psychologist and author, discusses the overall impact that a parent's sex addiction can have on their children and the statistics based on a lot of research he has done over the years.
There are so many issues with this regarding divorce, who to tell, what to tell the kids, etc. For possible solutions, it would be best to discuss with a therapist or a support group. This video though, will solely focus on the impact of a parent's addiction on the kids.
What are the impacts? Many who are adult children of sex addicts find out about the parent's sex addiction between the ages of 6-15 years old. They can be affected by this knowledge in many ways and medicate through various methods to cope with the dysfunction. Their physical and mental health can be affected, including struggling with depression, eating disorders, and low self-esteem. The addiction can also affect their social, dating, and marital relationships (who they choose to be with and how they interact with them), how they view sexuality, and how they will parent. Their spirituality, their concept of God, and view of religion is also largely impacted.
Since the parent has an addiction, they have not matured spiritually, emotionally, or morally. Because of that, they can't really convey adult values and their children will grow up immature and stunted in different areas as well.
