Lisa Gregory, business owner and co-author of, "Stuck No More: Practical Self-Coaching for Everyday Problems," brings an all too common and very relatable conversation to the table regarding how we so often get trapped in our own narratives. These "stuck stories" can be about relationships, careers, or anywhere else we have created our own glass ceiling. Gregory explains that the very first question we need to ask ourselves is, "What am I focusing on?" This means that we need to begin by bringing to the surface the inner dialogue we are allowing to roll through our minds, the things we believe to be true about our lives which may or may not be based in facts. Next, Gregory tells us that we must do a deeper dive to extract the habit that has formed and woven itself through this story we have been telling ourselves, as this is where we really get stuck. Where the focus goes, the energy flows and makes whatever is keeping us stuck stronger. Shifting our focus is essential to break free from the "stuckness."
Gregory then winds up with HOW to get unstuck, which begins with entertaining another perspective on our old belief system, widening our current view to create a new narrative or story we can tell ourselves. She then says that once we land in the phase of swapping out the old stuck story for a new and improved authentically successful version, that the key is to envision what it would feel like if this new story were true. Gregory challenges us to ask ourselves, "What would we do differently?" Opening the door with the new story of abundance brings with it fresh creativity, which in turn leads us to the solutions we need to live our very best lives !!
