In the Age of Dreams, the ogres believe they were the first-born after Dragons. They were tall, handsome and strong. They were created by Takhisis as her favored children and were seemingly immortal. The ogres were a proud race—with a dark grace and cold beauty was unsurpassed by anything on Krynn. They were distrustful of others, so when they came across the graceful elves, brooding dwarves and industrious humans, they met them with anger and then violence. Their hearts were cold and bent toward evil. They enslaved Marans or barbarian humans and used them to build their mighty nation of Cold Stone. Then Igrane came on the scene. Igraine was governor of the northern lands of Khal-Theraxian. In a mine collapse which he barely escaped, his daughter became trapped, and his slave disobeyed his orders of evacuation to save Igraine’s daughter. The slave was put in chains and taken to the royal manor for execution due to his disobedience. Igrane was supposed to slay the human, but instead he learned the concepts of compassion and free will from him, and would eventually flee the ogre nation. He was wiser than all, save the noble dragons, and taught the ogres another way. He taught that violence would inevitably lead to death or enslavement, and he would forge a different path. A path of peace and kindness. He rejected the inherent evil and violence within his race and a clan of ogres followed him. His new philosophy was inspired by humanity, through the power of choice. Igrane chose to try and live in wisdom and faith in the freedom of choice.

With the slave uprising due to Igraine’s Heresy, the ogre nation fell. The ogre race was split, and ‘the evil ones chose to war with Igrane’s clan. Ultimately the goddess Mishakal saw Igrane’s plight and granted them the ability to shapeshift, so they could exist in safety. Igrane’s clan followed him to the sea where they sailed away in a single great canoe through storm and struggle. In Igrane’s absence the ogres would degenerate over the centuries through their corruption. Some may see it as inevitable with Takhisis as their mother, but they would war with each other as much as with the other races on Krynn. Igrane and his clan would finally arrive at a great island. Igrane passed his authority to his daughter and retired into the mountains.

About Magestones Game:

The board is a grid 7 x 9, with columns numbered 3-9, columns representing planes of reality, rows representing schools of magic, though this has no effect on gameplay. The board "wraps" top to bottom, but not for the purposes of diagonal capture.

Players roll 3d3 (six sided dice numbered 1-3 twice), and place their coloured tokens on a space in the column matching the dice total. The exception to this is where the three dice are all different, where the player misses a turn "distracted by events in the prime material plane." When a player rolls all three dice the same, they get another turn after placing their stone.

Capture of opposition stones is in the style of Othello/Reversi, but captured stones are removed from the board and returned to their owner. First player to place all their stones wins.

As a way of a primer, the first Dwarven Kingdom on Ansalon was called Kal-Thax. In truth, there would be many of them along the coast line. Kal-Thax stands for ‘Cold Forge’. The first of these was formed among the natural caverns and sea caves along the coast of Nordmaar. It was seen as a chill prison/fortress, useful only as protection from the tremendous threat of the wandering Graystone. They would delve deep into the natural and living limestone underground to create their new home. This is truly where the dwarven traits as we know them manifest within the race. As they expanded the network of Kal-Thax they would uncover a sealed cavern where water dripped from the rock, falling to the floor in a deep minor musical key. Upon closer inspection the wall bore the face of Reorx himself, and the great debate as to why he wept would begin. Was it a sign to be content with their new home and find peace or to strike out and build even greater homes?

After the fall of Gargath and the further chaos of the newly released Graystone, the dwarves migrated to a newly discovered home of Thorin. An ancient, abandoned, crude ogre lair by dwarven standards. The deep cave was one feature that was outdone in its significance by the pool of magma at its center. They built a great keep of Thorin at the heights of their kingdom  and delved vast caverns beneath the surface. With their endless energy source at the core of their new kingdom, they would invent glass blowing, mirrors to light their vast underground land, and delve a vast Grand Gather where they would have formal meetings and bring honored guests. They also uncovered the Dragon Orbs the elves hid there aeons before. Bringing them to the surface to destroy them in the Lords of Doom, a trio of active volcanoes, they were lost in a great ogre battle. They would trade with the human realms and find peace and prosperity.

The chieftain and over a thousand followers would migrate to a new home, a Kal-Thax in the west. The Hylar were able to best and convince the Thiewar, Daewar, Daergar and Klar that lived there to join them in a new kingdom called Thorbardin. Thorbardin features a massive lake with the Life-Tree at its center. Each dwarven clan has a vast kingdom of their own underneath the mountain. During the Kinslayer Wars, the Theiwar wanted to ally with Humans, but hide it from the elves. The Hylar discovered the treachery and to rectify it came to the aid of Kith-Kanan, and ultimately settled the war. The Silvanesti never forgave the Theiwar,

Welcome to another DragonLance Saga episode. It is Misham, Fierswelt the 8th, my name is Adam and today I am going to give you my Spoiler review The Annotated Chronicles: Dragons of Spring Dawning. I will be spoiling the story, so if you don’t want to know it, stop watching now! This is my perspective only, and if you have any thoughts or disagree with mine, I invite you to share them in YouTube chat.

The beginning of the novel provides the story of Berem Everman, the green gemstone man, and his sister Jasla. He was out hunting with his sister and came across a column with gems in it. He insisted on prying one out to sell, and his sister, out of fear, tried to stop him. He accidentally murdered her, and the gem became embedded magically into his chest, giving him seemingly eternal life. This is the beginning of the temple and the last piece needed for Takhisis to enter into Krynn, so you can imagine her desire to find him.

This sets up Kitiara’s reason for being in Flotsam rather than Solamnia. It also connects Tanis with Kitiara and dooms the companions ultimately as Tanis succumbs to her physically in a wonderful boot scene that is explained by Tracy Hickman in the annotations. He preferred inferring sex scenes rather than describing them, as Captain Kirk had in the Star Treck TV series, by puting on his boots after an ‘alien encounter’. Kit and Tanis, took each other's boots off before their own. Kit is convinced at least marginally of Tanis' switch to the Dark Queens army and ends up leaving town for a bit. Tanis listens to his conscious finally and leaves her to return to his friends. Kit told him about her search of the Everman and his importance. Tanis, realizing he saw him again on the ship he booked passage out of Flotsam on, realized he must leave immediately. 

He convinces his concerned companions to leave and they see his torment from hiding something. They convince MarQuesta to leave and they are chased by Kitiara and Skie into the Blood Sea Maelstrom. Raistlin uses the Dragon Orb to escape, devastating Caramon, and Kit nearly captures Berem before the sinking of the Perechon, their ship.

We travel to Palanthas where Raistlin transported himself to and lies at its steps nearly dead. Bertrem informs Astinus and conveys Raistlin's request to meet with him. They bring Raistlin inside the library for care and Astinus reveals that there is something else within Raistlin's eyes that he recognises. Riaistlin asks to peruse the library as he secretly wants to gain more power. Astinus consents and Raistlin nearly dies in his pursuits. Ultimately he realizes that he is sharing his body with another. He recalls his test and understands that Fistandantilus is sharing his body, causing him the suffering and granting him power in return.

We switch to Laurana who is still mourning Sturm but fulfilling her duty to Lord Gunthar.

The information herein is primarily presented by Chisel Loremaster, the Supreme Historian of Dwarvenhood. Early in his life he was altered by the Greystone, granting him immortality. It is from him this information is presented. It may be racially skewed, but it is Dwarven through and through. It is said that the Smiths are the forerunners of the dwarves and predated all other creatures on Krynn. Gnomes are a degeneration of the Smiths of legend. When Reorx smashed his hammer against chaos to create the universe, sparks settled on Krynn in the form of the Smiths. When dragons and beasts populated Krynn, the Smiths became reclusive.

It wasn’t until the Elves, Ogres and Humans were created on Krynn that the Smiths left their underground lairs and co mingled with them. Ultimately they were cast out from Elven and Ogre societies and dwelt primarily with humans in the hills and plains. When Reorx gathered crafters and transported them to Taladas in the Age of Dreams, it was not from the human population, but rather, from the Smiths that he pulled from. The Smiths were masters of elemental magic that was inherent in Krynn. When the three gods of magic began circling the planet, it began skewing their natural magic. Then Hiddukel and Chislev tricked Reorx into making a miniature image of Krynn in the form of the Greystone, thereby capturing Chaos within, Reorx was bound by the rigid conventions of the gods, and could not reclaim the stone himself, but rather sent the Smiths after it. The Smiths took a generation to make a Great Machine to claim the Greystone from Lunitari. It was the life quest of Milgas Kadwar who was assisted unbeknownst to him by Hiddukel who wanted the Greystone himself. Using the magical net to capture the Greystone he brought it to Krynn and the net dissolved as per the evil gods plan, and the stone was lost to the Smiths.

The Greystone immediately changed Milgas and around 200 Smiths, transforming them into Scions. The Greystone sapped away the elemental magic of the Smiths, replacing it with wild sorcery. With the help of the magical Scions the Smiths created massive ships to escape the human populations and magic wrecked land of Taladas. Only 13 vessels made the voyage successfully and when they landed on Ansalon’s shore, through rage of so many perishing in the crossing, the Smiths turned on the Scions, murderin all but 13 who were chained up and thrown into the sea, banished. The Smiths turned from their histories and became known as the Dwarves.

The dwarves crafted their first home in the mountains that their ships landed nearby. Kal-Thax took 300 years to excavate and it is located along the coast of Nordmaar. They constructed great gates of rock,
