Krynn is a planet as complex and diverse as our own. It contains different continents and climates, cultures and creatures. It consists of landmasses and continents both known and unknown, so let’s explore the true diversity of this amazing planet.
Though the majority of the creatures on Krynn live their lives within 30 miles of their birth, the world is truly a vast and diverse place.
Intro
Welcome to another DragonLance Saga episode. My name is Adam and today we are going to talk about the different regions that make up the planet of Krynn. Don’t forget to like and subscribe to this channel, ring the bell, and you can further help this channel, and pick up Dragonlance Gaming materials, using my affiliate link in the description below. Though the entire geography of Krynn is not possible to convey concisely in one video, I will provide a brief overview of the continents and regions of Krynn, and return in follow up episodes to dive into even more detail. I will no doubt miss some regions so leave a comment if there is more information you would like to see.
Discussion
The most commonly known continent on Krynn is Ansalon. Ansalon sits in the southern hemisphere of Krynn. It is surrounded by the Sirion Sea to the west, the Turbidus ocean to the north, and the Courrain Ocean to the east. It’s southern border meets with the south pole and the continent of Chorane. The continent has changed greatly from the first to the second Cataclysm, so we will be focusing on the current timeline in the Age of Mortals. The continent is divided by the New Sea, Schallsea straits, the Straits of Algoni, Miremier, the Blood Sea, the Bay of Balifor, and the Khurman Sea. It is composed of the following regions.
Abansinia has no official capital. Haven is it’s largest city. It is primarily populated by Humans, Dwarves, Centaurs and Goblins. It is governed by a confederation of several states, or tribes. It is composed primarily of a diversity of grasslands, hills and forests.
Balifor (The Desolation), also has no official capital. It is populated primarily by Humans, Kender, Half-Elves, Half-Ogres and Goblins. It is governed tribally. This region was transformed by the dragon overlord Malystrix from deserts, grasslands and farmlands to barren wastelands.
The Blood Sea Isles capitals are Sea Reach, Lacynos, and Lalpethis. They are populated primarily by Humans, Minotaurs, and Kyrie. They are governed by Republic, Feudal and Empiric governments respectively. Though the First Cataclysm split the isles from the mainland, and caused a never ending storm to ravage the Blood Sea, the second Cataclysm calmed the storm and life is made primarily through fishing and trade.
Estwilde has no capital and is populated by humans, goblins, ogres, giants, centaurs and hill dwarves. It is governed tribally. It consists of dry grasslands, rugged foothills, pine forests, and high mountains. It was populated by three dragons in the early Age of Mortals.
Goodlund (The Desolation) has no capital. It’s population consists of Barbaric humans, kender, ogres, goblins, draconians, and sligs. This region was also teraformed by the great dragon overlord Malystrix from a mild region of forests and plains to a wasteland.
Hylo, has it’s own capital of the same name. It is populated by Kender, Humans, goblins and ogres. It is governed by a democratic oligarchy. Also known as Kenderhome, it is well guarded by the Sentinal mountains to the west and the straits of Algoni to the east.
