- What Makes Us Different? (ISAM PREVIEW 1: Ep. 1)
We have some exciting news to share with our listeners!
We have partnered with our long time ministry colleague and friend Eric Gallagher in forming a ministry apostolate. Phase 1 of this effort, launches on the Feast of Pentecost: May 28, 2023! Much more to come as it is not simply a podcast!
Draw Near listeners may recognize that the name sounds familiar. That's because the three of us drew inspiration from what we have seen and witnessed in our many years of combined ministry experience, in our time forming disciples, and of course in our own seeking to grow in relationship with Christ. We also drew inspiration from this: https://www.drawnear.me/blog/iseeamovement
You will hear more about this in our first two episodes which launch on Pentecost! In the meantime, enjoy these previews!

3 min - By Whose Authority: Catholic teaching on Divine Revelation
Why don't Catholics believe in sola scriptura (Scripture alone) as the authority of faith? This is a common question posed to Catholics, but are we prepared to answer it? In this episode of Draw Near, Fred and Kara take up this question of authority pulling from Scripture itself.
What is Divine Revelation? It is Scripture and Tradition, and the Magisterium of the Church is at the service of what has been divinely revealed. Through God's great love, he did not leave us to lean on our understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). Instead, he gave his authority to leaders in the Church, and that authority has been handed on. He gave us a gift in the Church.Church hierarchy Scripture passages mentioned:
Old Testament: Exodus 24 (there are others not mentioned in the show as well!)New Testament: Lk 22: 31-32; Lk 8:51, 9:28; Lk 9:1, 22:28-30; Lk 10: 1, 17_**Dei Verbum written by Pope Paul VI

About Draw Near
From the publisher's feed
At Draw Near, we explore the beautiful truth that God, out of His deep and personal love for each of us, takes the first step to draw near. But this divine movement calls for a response—a response…
that shapes our lives and transforms our hearts. Together, we embark on this journey of faith, discovering the many ways God's grace and the power of the Holy Spirit work within us. Rooted in the Catholic faith, our podcast is a space where authenticity meets joy. We’re two best friends navigating life, family, and faith with honesty, humility, and a lot of love. Each episode is a heartfelt conversation—sometimes deep, sometimes lighthearted, but always real. We strive to be vulnerable, faithful, and passionate, sharing insights and stories to inspire you on your path toward Christ. This is more than a podcast; it’s a shared journey toward sainthood. So come laugh with us, reflect with us, and grow with us as we Draw Near to God and one another. Let’s set out together on this adventure of faith, friendship, and grace.
