Drawn To The Flame

The depths of Yoth! The depths of Yoth! Join Frank for a first look at the player cards of the fifth mythos pack in The Forgotten Age cycle. His mind is well and truly fed!

Howler warning: I called "I've got a plan" "I've had worse" at about 7minutes. What a dummy! I've definitely not had worse than that!

Join Peter and Frank for our first decktrospective (no idea what that name means - hopefully someone will clear it up for us), in which we take a deck sent in by a patron and take it apart, like the restoration of an antique vase or two petrolheads doing automobile fanboying or whatever it is car-people like doing. This time, it's an Ashcan Pete deck: https://arkhamdb.com/decklist/view/5825/pete-duke-and-yaotl-desperate-synergy-3.0

We're also lucky to appear as guests on Unlucky Frog Gaming's podcast. Check out episode 88: https://unluckyfrog.podbean.com/e/episode-88-independence-day-drawn-to-the-flame-podcast/

Join Peter and Frank for the fourth of Drawn to the Flame's Visions of Futures Past, where we announce a forthcoming player card to the community. We're delighted FFG have asked us to do this again, after Storm of Spirits, Time Warp & Custom Ammunition, and really hugely excited to share this card with everyone. So dive in for a new card that's coming up in The Depths of Yoth!

But that's not all: we're also announcing the results of our competition, where we asked listeners to pair an investigator with a scenario in a thematic way. The entries were all excellent and deeply enjoyable, so tune in as we go through some favourites, and award a copy of Carnevale of Horrors, a live play episode and player tokens and board from Buy the Same Token!

Join Frank for the eighth Think on your Feet, in which Calvin Wright – or his successor – continues investigations into the madness and mystery surrounding the King in Yellow.

In Think on your Feet episodes, a live play series of Arkham Horror: The Card Game, I endeavour not to edit much at all. Sometimes I cut a bit of shuffling sounds or abbreviate some of my longer pauses (a chap's got to think!), but otherwise, it's uncut, unaltered and meant to feel like you're with me at the table. There may be mistakes and misplays, but hopefully some successes too. In light of the Patreon support and because I want to enhance listening to Drawn to the Flame, I've added some atmospheric details too. Hopefully they elevate the experience. Toot toot!

This is the first episode recorded with my new microphone. I hope the sound is crisper and clearer, but I welcome any feedback - not of an audio kind...! If you're not sure about any of my lines of play or otherwise confused, ask away.

Here's the deck before A Phantom of Truth: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/214987.

Here's the deck before The Pallid Mask: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/215018.

During the edit I spotted a misplay I made while playing. At 1hr17 minutes, I believe I spawned a docent at 'any unrevealed location' rather than the nearest unrevealed... I'm not 100% sure on that though.

Will Frank be on his own, a sacrifice to the elder gods, as he tries to fathom the player cards from The Forgotten Age's fourth mythos pack, The City of Archives? Or perhaps this will be his pay day, as he may just have a special guest on the line...

Of note: we talked a smidge about Pay Day + Fence as a post-final action play, and playing events with On Your Own with zero resources. We're not sure if we got the rules right on either and as soon as we know, we'll let you know... STOP PRESS: Matt tells us we got it right on both! Phew.

Join Peter and Frank for a brief Good Question style episode, in which they try out their new microphones (thank you so bloomin' much, patrons!), look at the newly announced Return to the Dunwich Legacy box, and ask each other Good Questions (TM), the answers of which prove... interesting!

Join Frank and Peter for a little slumber party (lol!), as they settle in, after playing The Endless Slumber together, to discuss their investigators and talk about the competition that's still ongoing (entries can be sent in to the details below). This is just a short, spoiler-free episode because we were together in the flesh and didn't want to pass up the opportunity to record!

During the edit I spotted a misplay I made while playing. At 26 minutes, I believe I take a 4 action turn. Little good it did me anyway!

Take heart! Intrepid Frank dives into another first look, this time for Heart of the Elders, the third mythos pack in The Forgotten Age cycle. And he's not doing it alone, joined by a friendly voice (not Olive's, not Lola's) from across the pond. Thank you for taking the time to be on the podcast!

Join Peter and Frank for a bag of Arkham allsorts: we look at Then It Multiplied, the first designer challenge laid down by Matt Newman, then some fantastic tokens and player boards by Buy The Same Token, and finally: a competition! Your chance to win prizes (plural! more than one prize!).

Check out Buy The Same Token on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/BuyTheSameToken#about or Ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/buythesametoken

They very generously gave us player boards to try out, and in return we provide our honest assessment of these accessories to help you decide if they're for you!
