Drawn To The Flame

Join Peter and Frank for a FIRST LOOK at the player cards - especially the Guardian player cards - of The Forgotten Age deluxe expansion. We dive in with a brief overview of the new Guardian investigator, and then look at what new tactics these macho men (and women) can pack. Spoilers, naturally, for The Forgotten Age.

UPDATE: we made a rules error in our Seeker episode: Ursula's reaction ability, because it creates a 'full' action, does also trigger attacks of opportunity should she move into a location with an enemy. Frank will add the full wording from Matt Newman to Arkhamdb soon, but in the meantime, please note we got it slightly wrong 3 episodes ago.

Join Frank for the fifth Think on your Feet, in which Sefina Rousseau finds herself at the base of Sentinel Hill, staring up at the site of the evils of Dunwich. Can she make it to the peak in time to stop Seth Bishop's ritual? Will her Dunwich endeavours be for naught?

In the Think on your Feet series, I endeavour not to edit much at all. Sometimes I cut a bit of shuffling sounds or abbreviate some of my longer pauses (a chap's got to think!), but otherwise, it's uncut, unaltered and meant to feel like you're with me at the table. There are mistakes and misplays a-plenty, but hopefully some successes too. But in this episode, in light of the Patreon support and because I want to take Drawn to the Flame to the next level, I've added some atmospheric details too. Hopefully they elevate the listening experience.

Here's the deck before Where Doom Awaits: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/132444.

**SPOILERS**:

Here's the deck before Lost in Time and Space: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/132476.

Scenario 7 begins at 4 minutes. Scenario 8 begins at 40 minutes and 30 seconds.

During the edit I spotted a couple of misplays I made while playing. After I advanced to agenda 3 in LiTaS I forgot to draw an encounter card - I was too excited! - but that was countered by playing Narrow Escape a few minutes later. I used it to avoid an attack of opportunity from one enemy who in fact doesn't make attacks of opportunity! Whoops! So I could have saved myself a hit from the other enemy engaged with me.... more fool me!

Join Peter and Frank for a quick chat, all about The Chthonian Stone. What is it? What does it do? Should Peter's Mateo Castile run it?

This is a new style of 'quick chat' episode we're trying out - let us know what you think!

Join Peter and Frank as they come face to face once more with the blind idiot god, the daemon sultan itself – Matt Newman, lead designer of Arkham Horror! We're absolutely delighted to have Matt on the podcast once again, and this time we're talking about The Path to Carcosa, including the player cards and how the factions have developed this cycle, designer notes on the eight scenarios of the campaign, and then, a brief look at The Forgotten Age and what we might expect from central American adventures.

Thanks again to Matt and FFG - it's an absolute pleasure to have Matt join us and be so generous with his time!

Join Peter and Frank as they start a new occasional series (we hope!) for Drawn to the Flame: Inquiring Mind. In it, they talk to friend of the show and all-round good guy Benjamin, who's been trying investigators he's never tried before. The purpose of this series is to explore investigators not exactly comprehensively, but in terms of trying them for the first time: why hadn't Ben tried them before? What did he want to get out of the experience? And how did it go? In this episode: everyone's favourite urchin!
