No outbreaks of the current Mpox (clade I) have yet been reported in the United States, and it’s unlikely to be a significant medical issue for Americans. Bites from mosquitoes can transmit a number of serious diseases, one of which is the West Nile virus. Traumatic injuries occur in the tens of millions every year. These don't always (hardly ever) occur right outside of a hospital. You may need to evaluate a wound, stop bleeding and possibly care for the injury until it heals, depending on the type of wound and availability of modern medicine. Frostbite usually occurs in the extremities, but sometimes affects areas like the ears and nose. In superficial frostbite, clear blisters may form in the damaged area as the patient recovers. In deep frostbite, they’ll likely be filled with blood, and skin may appear bruised, blue, or otherwise discolored. Dr. Alton reviews signs, symptoms, treatments and prevention of frostbite and immersion foot (trench foot).
