Be positive! Your outlook on life has everything to do with the quality of your experience. How often are you grumpy, agitated, angry or sad? What happens when you allow yourself to sit in those feelings? When you are able to adopt a positive attitude life gets sweeter no matter what you are facing.
QUOTE:
“Optimism is a happiness magnet. If you stay positive, good things and good people will be drawn to you.” —Mary Lou Retton
In the end what do you want your life to be like? How do you want to spend your day? What energy do you want to permeate your being? Are you okay with being anxious, afraid, angry, frustrated, or sad? What do you want? If you strive to claim peace in each moment you stand a better chance of being calm and content, and even joyous. Doesn't that sound appealing?
QUOTE:
“Do not let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace” —Dalai Lama
How often do you compare yourself to others? How often do you fear you do not measure up? How do you behave when you are around people who have more than you or who seem happier than you? How does this type of comparison affect your being? Rather than striving to be like somebody else, consider focusing on being your best.
QUOTE:
“Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.” —Judy Garland
How do you approach the situations that present themselves to you? Do you whine, complain, sigh? Do you suggest solutions? Do you imagine outcomes? Do you look for a way to illuminate what's before you? What do you do? A leader welcomes solutions and guides others to that creative option.
QUOTE:
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” —John Quincy Adams
How many times have you chosen to believe that something was true when it was not? Think about when you may have wished so hard for something that you were convinced it was real, but it was not. What if you decided to choose what is? What if you got still and turned inside to discover the real truth--that which connects you to the Divine? What then?
QUOTE:
“The golden opportunity you are seeking is in yourself. It is not in your environment; it is not in luck or chance, or the help of others; it is in yourself alone." —Orison Swett Marden
As you go through life do you think about what impact your thoughts, words and deeds have on others? Do your actions matter? Are you making conscious choices about how you live and what your life will mean after you are gone? You should.
QUOTE:
“I want to leave people better than I find them, to leave a mark not a scar...to deposit hope and faith…and some seeds of joy. Life is about loving God and loving people. I want to leave a legacy of love.”
How often do you have an impact on a situation without even realizing it? What happens when you walk away from a person, a job, a community, a moment? Do you ever stop and turn around to see what is left in your wake? I encourage you to do so, because what happens at the end of scenarios is often more impactful than what happened at the beginning.
QUOTE:
“Endings are more important than beginnings. ” ―Harriette Cole
How often do you blame other people or situations for your state? It has got to be somebody else's fault that you find yourself in the predicament you are in, right? Wrong. We are responsible for our state of mind, for our state of being. We have to do the work to fix what's going on inside of us. Otherwise, wherever we go our ways will follow us and we will never find peace.
QUOTE:
“You find peace not by rearranging the circumstances of your life, but by realizing who you are at the deepest level.” ―Eckhart Tolle
What happens when you choose what's best for you? When you pause to consider the right steps to live your life? When you stop doing what others want you to do and stand in your own power, conviction and clarity?
QUOTE:
“If you want to be happy, be.” -Leo Tolstoy
How do you define family? Is it the people with whom you share blood? People you have invited into your heart through love? Both? How do you tend to them? How do you manage conflict with them? How do you connect to them? How do you forgive them? How do you build with them?
QUOTE:
“Family is the compass that guides us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter.” -Brad Henry
